When your hometown is recommended on UA-cam 😂 didn’t expect that.
Right, I was watching anime and this was recommended lol. Next week we look at Modesto historic taco trucks and the never ending war on which is the best one
My thoughts exactly!!
@@JCsFluffyTail Salida taco trucks are the best!!
Honestly!
Modesto here 👍
Didn't expect to see my town pop up on recommended videos
Thank you very much! This growing channel always appreciate the support!
Watching this from Modesto.
Produced from Modesto! LOL

All the years I lived in Modesto I never looked up the history and also I have some of those bricks when that building had gotten torn down, and my brother is resting in Acacia cemetery ty for the history lesson 🙂
My mother is buried there and other family members I was born and raised in ModestoI'm a Modesto native which is kind of rare these days since most people commute here and come from out of town I was born and raised in this town
I love how you really put the time and effort in giving us a history lesson. I wish more reporters were like you and just gave us the facts. I've been watching your old videos for awhile now and I can't get enough of our local history.
Thank you for the glowing feedback! I love it!
Thanks Jeff, I’ve lived in Modesto since I was three years old, I am now 58. I used to ride my bike with my buddies to the graveyard at night and I remember that headstone that stated” I told you I was sick”… LOL those facts about Mr. McHenry or should I say Brewster I had never heard before. Interesting… I was one of the fortunate few who used to cruise McHenry back in the day. Graduated from Downey high. Thanks again Jeff, you did a great job with the history lesson.
I heard a docent at the Mansion mention the Brewster name once.
They wanted to name the town after him but he "was too modest" so they named it Modesto. He was probably trying to avoid detection.
@@richdiddens4059 I believe it was Mr. Ralston who was too modest.
You Made That Old Cemetery Come Back To Life -Great History 🤠🇺🇸👍🏻
I thank you for your compliment! I am happy to know you are watching!

Im a history bluff i enjoyed this video of Modestos oldest cemetery ive been there a couple of times i.like old cemeteries
@@stabbincabbincowbboy3770 amen !
This was really awesome to watch. I was raised in Modesto and my grandpa is buried in this cemetery, in front of the little building in the background where the flag is. My mom was a professional seamstress and though I'm not sure how she met the woman that was living in that little building, she began sewing for her when I was a little girl. I'm thinking this was a caretaker. On one occasion the woman asked my mom is she would like to go in the room where they kept coffins, and try one out. I believe that was the last my mom sewed any clothes for her lol I think she was just a very friendly woman. There's a lot of history there. I really enjoy your videos!!
Lol ur mom made a good call.. but in all seriousness, most of the people from "Modest"-o are realitively friendly 😁
Your videos are so well researched and presented, they are a pleasure to watch. You make the seemingly boring subject of history to some, very interesting viewing for all.
When it's finally something positive to come out to Modesto...
Loved this video! Was in the recommended section and glad it was. I can't wait to watch more of your videos!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Jeff, You missed the grave of Joseph Sr and Assunta Gallo, parents of Ernest and Julio Gallo, they're buried in the Catholic section. Joe Sr shot and killed Assunta because he believed that she was involved with another man, interesting story..
My aunt, Elva Lucia Villafan sadly passed, and now rests in the Catholic section of the cemetery. She was a Catholic sister living based at the Stanislaus parish, any if you want to talk trash about Nuns, now's the time. 😞
Part two!
Love how these stories intertwine with other stories like the one with wyatt earp and the lusitania...fascinating jeff!
Hi Randy
My grand dad lost his arm in a farming accident. Must be a terrifying experience. I love the episodes featuring cemeteries.....a lot of history and for the most part beautifully landscaped. Top notch video and I appreciate this excellent channel!!!
Thanks again for your nice compliment! My grandfather was picking fruit on one of those fruit ladders when it gave way and he came crashing to the ground and shattered his leg bone to where it was sticking out of his skin and bone marrow was outside of his pants. I cringe to think about what he went through.
Geez. Born and raised here in Modesto and didn't know any of this other than the story of Robert McHenry. I think everyone from Modesto knows about him. This was great!! Thanks!
I enjoy learning about the people and regional history of Northern California. Keep up the great work. Thanks
Thank you very much!!!
My Girlfriend lived in a house with the back fence facing the Cemetery ... I would venture over there to see the who was at rest .. There were three young boys who passed away at same time if I remember right caught my interest two brothers and another boy .. all buried together .. What happened? .. A head stone that read "I told you I was sick" ....
Wow! That's crazy!
What year did they die? Back in the early 2000s i believe there was 3 siblings that drowned in the tuolumne river in empire
frogy beatz my family knew that family and I’m really good friends with one of the younger brothers brother , every time I pass that bridge on Santa Fe I hold my breath (:
where's that grave located?
Around the corner from my house. Man, this is fascinating
Thank you for watching! Glad you learned something from it and liked it!
Love your video!
I was born and raised in Modesto and heard a lot of stories from my dad. One in particular was about a shooting that took place at a burger joint called "Burgess Drive-In". Identified as "Mel's" in the movie "American Graffiti".
Jeff, I really enjoyed this video. Learned a lot about our local history.
I thank you for your compliment! I am happy to know you are watching!
Ditto. New sub. Love history. Awesome video.
Pat Sinner Dickey me too I just subscribed! Thank you sir for taking the time to make these videos. Is the long very busy McHenry road named after the army deserter?
I use to work right across the street. Always curious about the old cemetery. Thanks for your visit and excellent commentary .
Is this located at Scenic?
@@e.salinas6553 yes
Very interesting video, thank you for doing one on the Modesto area. It's actually a quite haunted cemetery, as are Wood Colony, Burwood and Lakewood Cemeteries among some others in the 209 and the old hospital across the street from Acacia is too.
I've lived in Calif. all of my life and never been to Modesto. Your videos make it look so interesting. I definitely have to visit. Thanks for another interesting and educational episode, Jeff!
You've never been up toward the center of your Golden State? Modesto is about 90 miles east of San Francisco and 90 miles southeast of Sacramento ... the center of it all! Actually you wouldn't find it all that interesting! LOL. But thanks, Steve, for the compliment once again! I appreciate you, of all popular UA-camrs, watching my videos!
Yeah I was raised in Modesto my whole life, and there's not much to do in terms of exciting, one of a kind experiences.
Memory Lane Trips With Steve don’t come to methdesto there’s nothing here but crime
Don't bother to come here. Its a very drug addicted town. When the sun goes down, the zombies come out.
Ive lived in Cali. All my life originally im from Southern Calif grew up.in Wilmington Ca harbor area Wilmington has a lot of early california history part of an old Spanish rancho called rancho new san Pedro around 1840 then phineas banning arrived to set up the los angeles harbor 1858 fort drumm 1864
I now live in the Modesto area. Your series gives context to what would normally be background that I normally ignore. It provides continuity., which really enhances my appreciation of the area.
And your encyclopedic knowledge is amazing. I'm really glad go to the effort of sharing and educating us.
Thank you!
Wow, thank you!
I've lived in Modesto my entire life and even I didn't know some of these facts, fascinating show ❤😊 I look forward to your other videos
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you for the time and effort you put in on these wonderful vids. Jeff.
My pleasure! Glad you like them!
Never thought Modesto would ever be recommended to me. My dad lives in Patterson lol
I find the cemetery histories very interesting thank you for this, I dont understand why someone would give this a thumbs down
I don't get it either. If you don't like a video or a channel, move on, right? Don't squash the work of somebody who labors over them for hours. Thanks for your support!
Wouldn’t have the good without the bad!
Great video very very well done. Being a big history buff and also being a native of Modesto I appreciate your time making this video and all the research you did to acquire the back stories once again great job and good luck to you and your career!
Jeff I grew up in Modesto many years ago ! Thank you for your research and digging deep into the history of Modesto ! I love history and am a new fan of your videos ! Greetings from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho !
Glad you enjoyed it, Dana! We love your comment and glad to hear you are a new fan of History Hunters!
Another Excellent Video!!! I'm viewing you older videos. I've actually wondered why I haven't seen your older ones before. So much history! Thanks!
WOW! I have lived here my whole life with a lot of family buried in this cemetery yet, I never knew any of this. Thank you for sharing this! It was so interesting. Now I will have to take a stroll and see this for myself.
Very interesting to hear local history. My grandfather was a tile and marble contractor in Motown in the late 1940's and my dad as well. Growing up there my family knew the local building contractors. A tidbit of history also is that many of the local older streets are not just named for status but for local contractors and their families, many of the sub contractors as well including my grandfather Coston Trent and the streets connect so the signs say Coston on one and Trent the other.
Great video. I subscribed, I hope there's more!
Great video...Thank You!
Morning Jeff! A great video, I always enjoy your graveyard walks. The research you do makes your videos so much different from the rest, stay safe and well

Thanks for the awesome videos. There’s always a story to tell and not just a grave, even though some are so cool looking.
Glad you like them! Somebody has to make history interesting! I know my high school teachers did not! LOL
Very interesting video thank you for sharing
That was a real nice video thank you friend for the history
You are always so informing excellent research.
Thank you for watching! Glad you learned something from it and liked it!
Good thing you didn’t have a car crash into the brick wall while you were there. Cars come around that corner real fast and crash into that wall at the corner scenic cemetery taking out the sign and wall. I’ve lived in Modesto since 2000 and my husband was born and raised here but I never knew the history of Modesto. I loved the video you made. It was very interesting and informative.
Yes I've seen the horrible condition of the rock wall which serves as evidence that drivers aren't paying attention!
Theres a good meme of a mpd cruiser that crashed right there lol ah good stuff
That was enjoyable to watch we look forward to your videos

Wow that was just really a surprise it just popped up on my feed on UA-cam to hear about so much history out of Modesto going back to the 1800s I used to walk my dog there so often and I have seen all the graves that you spoke of now I got to go back and take along this video as I look at each one you spoke of thank you for digging into all the history of our cemetery here in Modesto! I’ve shared this with several people.

I appreciate that, Gennie! Any relation to Thomas? LOL
