I was not happy about this at all! It couldn't have come at a worse time either. After a few days of work though, I think I was able to get the problem addressed. Hopefully for years to come. 🤞 Either way, I love the progress on this enclosure and can't wait to show you what else I have planned for it. More on that in a few months though. Have a great weekend SerpaSquad!

Couldn't you get some pond tarp and put it at the bottom and going up the edges? If you can have all the seams above the water level it seems safer to me.

Earlier this week one of my tanks leaked and the water dripped all the way down stairs through the walls and everything. My parents called and had me leave work early so I could figure out my fish. I ended up giving almost all of them except my betta (it was a community tank and my betta did good in there) and luckily my one friend was able to take them because he has like 20 fish tanks and now the betta that was in that tank is in a 5 gallon. Now I just have 3 bettas along with some shrimp and snails but I miss my other fish and I’ve had them for more than 2 years but thankfully my friend was able to take them.

FWIW I hope the epoxy works. If the plywood is wet, the epoxy may come loose. I had that happen in an old boat I restored. An alternative for future large scale builds might be to use the roll plastic system they use to build shower pans. You do wondrous things. Thank you.

It would be amazing to do some small arboreal geckos like mourning geckos along with dart frogs along the bottom! Sure a large inhabitant would be cool, but it would just be so amazing to just see a population of smaller creatures scurrying around and interacting and behaving naturally in the vivarium!

Random plant question! How did you get the Sansevierias (Snake Plants) to live in a humid/wet vivarium? From everything I've learned, aren't they supposed to be super prone to root rot if they get watered too often? I'd love to know how you did it!

If u throw a snake plant from a dry-footed life into a wet-footed life it will rot, but if acclimated right or previously coming from a humid environment they will do just fine. U can even grow snake plants in water! I have a 55 gal tropical set up and have 2 dif types of snake plants in there.

My 575 gallon vivarium began leaking roughly the same time yours did, although it had been in dutiful commission since April of 2017, so I can''t complain. I originally used 3 quarts of Pond Armor in converting a ThermoFischer Bio-Growth Chamber into a tropical vivarium. Interestingly enough, I purchased the unit on CL for $100, which was a steal in light of the $6500 price tag new units typically sport in the academia/laboratory sector. Your video was incredibly timely as it was a major factor in alleviating most of the stress that confronted me in initially tacking the repair work. After removing the substrate and ascertaining the location of the leak (rear seam), I was confronted with a structural barrier that resulted in trying out some new materials. My viv is home to a large faux oak tree that was constructed out of PVC, styrofoam, DryLock and acrylic paint. Unfortunately, the tree was directly above the location of the leak which all but prevented the proper application of Pond Armor. So, I returned the 1.5 Quarts and decided that I would try L-R Liquid Rubber, as it would allow me to use a syringe and tubing (Julian's Thingy) so as to inject the sealant deep under the base of the tree where the false bottom met the rear wall. After applying a quart and still not getting the leak resolved, I picked up a second quart and laid it on thick. I used some shade cloth as makeshift geotextile and used almost the entire two quarts. After three weeks of sporadic work, I finally have the viv water tight and ready for planting.
If you don't get a trio of L. smaragdina in yours soon, I may beat you to the punch...

I install rain gutters for a living so sealant is one of my main tools . Every now and then you just get an air bubble or a dodgy mixture in the sealant itself ... Even in the biggest name brands from the biggest store there's always a chance of error in the chemistry ....

Thankfully most of it made it! I bought a small glass house and thought it was terrarium ready because the ad showed it planted and called it a terrarium. I started with leca false bottom, window mesh and then dragon stone and your substrate mix. I planted it with jewel orchids and selaginella and called it good. It wasn't good! I pulled it apart and resealed it several times and ways attempting to keep the glass open but seal all the seams and eventually lost all the plants between tries so I gave up. Now it has dried moss and diorama tricks to make a fairy garden.

I have built aquariums, greenhouses and terrariums for decades and there is no way on earth I would have built that without a tub or pond liner in the bottom of it in which the inner walls then rest. Anything else needs to be considered as a planned leak. The epoxy at the seams may actually work and last the functional lifespan of the display IF it is just flexible enough. Good luck. It's a beautiful display.

It's always at the worst times the problems occur. 😅 That is a piece of art and a dream vivarium though!

Why not use shower pan liner? With a bit of heat you can form them to make nice 90° angles and you could use some sort of glue/screws to install. I'm a noob with plants so I don't know if you could do it.

i feel your pain, i built a 180 gallon plywood paludarium and the water fall causes droplets to run down the door and onto the front. not looking forward to tearing it apart to fix it at all

Tanner!!! If you still have the 150 cube, PLEASE do something with saltwater! It would add so much variety to the animal room with its location and you definitely have the ability to pull off something beautiful!! Challenge yourself! Make a salt tank

At 9:15 the leaf litter on the left makes a face with its reflection. It looks bear like. The tank looks great. You make it all look so easy. Love your videos!

Have you ever considered using a ultrasonic foggerponics set up? Might be great for a rainforest setup.

I got 3 ispods in a jar bc I didn't have a bigger container for them.
But I changed to a cookie plastic box and they will get more to explore and lil more space.
They're so small😩 I cringe when I almost dropped on of them

I commented on the first video that I was glad you did a huge paladerium cuz I did the same and I’m glad I’m not the only one that had a leak (I’ve had 3) I’m going to put in the new tank tomorrow… kinda nervous to see how everything holds up

Just curious, could you have used a pond liner for the bottom? They work for ponds and they are waterproof.
