Since I first heard about this round, I've felt in love with the concept! Unfortunately, I doubt I would find it at any shooting range in Europe to try it.
Thank-you for your comments! It definitely attracts a lot of attention when I take it out shooting. Yes, it probably would be difficult to find in Europe since it is proprietary. It seems it is not easy to find here either - I was very fortunate!
Yeah I really like the idea of subsonic cartridges, especially a big chunky one like this. They're inheriently a bit more accurate than supersonic loadings because when they exit the sound barrier the bullet rams into it's own pressure wave and it can knock itself off trajectory too it's target. Subsonic munitions don't encounter that issue.
How wonderful. I think the 338 Lapua case can also be used. And, I believe rebating the Lapua case rim to a 308 case head size, is also very viable, as a low pressure round.
I sometimes shoot a 950 grain slug I cast from a Cast Bullet Engineering (Australia); gives me about 2300 ft-lbs. At 4 moa, it is not very accurate though.
I Love 300 Blackout so much and this is like 300 blackout x10. This is sick Can u even buy this ammo? I never see it This is the first day I have ever even heard of it
Thanks for your comments! Yes, this is a fantastic cartridge. No, unfortunately you can't buy the ammo, it has to be made from 338 Lapua. They have to be shortened and the neck and shoulder have to be turned etc, etc
That is amazing! If you don’t mind me asking, what powder, primers, and COAL do you use? Also, how many reloads can you get on a case running only subs? I plan on converting a Savage 110 Tactical LA into 510 Whisper this year. I’ll use the 300WM AICS magazines because 338 Lapua fits perfectly in them and has adequate length inside the mag. I greatly appreciate the video and information!
Thanks for your comments and questions! I'm loading 700gr bullets over 27.5gr H110 with Winchester Match Grade standard LR primers. COAL: 3.338. Velocity approx. 1,050 fps. I have a 27" barrel which can drag the velocity down. I see quite a few guys are using 16 -18" barrels.
Thanks for the quick response! I’ll definitely remember this when I begin reloading again. I forgot to ask what twist yours is. I’m leaning towards a McGowan barrel, but the fastest twist they offer is 1:10. I’m not sure if that’ll be adequate for the 700-800gr projectiles I plan to shoot.
@@jaymoore4696 My TC Encore has a 1-10 twist. It is a 2 moa gun with Amax, 3moa with M33. I use about 27 grains of WC820 which meters and looks like H110.
I haven't had this rifle very long. I've currently only shot at 100 yards and my last 5 shot group was 1.1" - that's better than 12" plus when I first got the rifle. I am still working up loads, but this caliber really shines at 200-600 yards and I need to find a location where I can try out a longer distance. Thanks for your interest!
Thanks for your questions! I have read much about the most potential for this caliber being achieved with shorter barrels than mine. When I acquired the rifle, this was the length of the barrel. What I found, was that this rifle shot extremely well after making some tweaks, and I was getting great groups. I really haven't felt the need to change anything, since it already seems to work so well.
Thanks for your comments. Yes, the barrel could be shorter. As for the suppressor - illegal in my country (sadly). I am very happy with the gun and the cartridge - I bought it for me, not you! As for the magazine, I have several single shot rifles and personally have no need for a quick follow-up shot. It's unfortunate that you felt you had to be so negative in your response.
Very interresting video!
Thanks for your comment! Glad you liked it. It's a great cartridge!

Thanks for your comments! 338 Lapua brass is what I have used.
Probably the strongest subsonic ammunition out there 1837 ft lbf with a 750 Grain AMax @ 1050 ft/s thats a lot of energy !
Thanks for your comments! You're absolutely right, it is an impressive cartridge and actually comfortable to shoot.
@The Caliber Corner what kinda speed r u getting ? If you knew.

Looks like a really fun cartridge! I bet it's even more fun with a suppressor, if .50 caliber suppressors were common at all
It absolutely is a fun cartridge. Unfortunately, where I live suppressors are illegal, so no experience with that. Thanks for your comment!
@@thecalibercorner9614 But the sole purpose of this thing is to shoot it suppressed obviously, otherwise every .308 already has more energy...

Very cool 👍
Thanks! Definitely one of my favorite calibers.
This is what I keep talking about in every video about 8.6blk. Skip all the little stuff and get to the 12.7blk
Thanks for your comments!

Forgot to mention the case life. After 5-6 loadings I occassionally lose one due to cracks at the case neck mouth.

This would be cool to see in a compact semi-auto.
Thanks for your comment! Interesting idea.
If you are only shooting subs, couldn’t you get away with a 16 in barrel? Why such a long barrel?

Cartridge 👌👌👌👍👍👍
Rifle BS !!!👎👎👎
Barrel too long, not tread for suppressor and not magazine fed ..

And I'm not negative...
Just my opinion mate... All the best 👍👍👍
