Hi Frank H, thank you very much, the owners at the RS club put in an incredible amount of work on their mk1 Escorts. I have two mk2 Escorts and really wanted a mk1, but the prices are getting out of reach. The RS owners club is hosting their annual Small Ford Sunday car show on 3 February 2020 at the Deaf Children Australia Melbourne grounds, located on St Kilda Rd in a weeks time. Some people start leaving at around 2:00pm. Its their biggest annual event. I made a video last year, but just can't find the SD card.
You are very welcome Carl Eastwood. The mk1's are very nice cars and quite a few model variants were produced. The RS 1600 would be nice to have in the garage.
I'm pretty sure that if they bought out these models now, escort/cortina/, with up to date specs, would sell well. The older fords had character, not like today.
Hi Tony, I always thought that Ford might one day especially with todays engines and magically retain the original weight of the vehicle such as the Mk1 Escort in its day. They did it with the Lancia Stratos in small numbers.
@@wallyandellen5099 To be honest, i think they look fantastic when done up. I was lucky enough to own a mk1 cortina, ans mk2 escort in my younger days, both nice cars. All these cars in the video look awesome, and obviously so many hours of hard work gone into them. But what fantastic results.
@@ant2756 The cars are from the club I belong to and yes, the owners put in many years of love into their vehicles. I own two mk2 Escorts, one being the RS 2000 and the other a 1977 Rallye pack GS van....I'll get that van restored soon...well, its been 34 years, but I'll get there.
That's one monster 4 into one manifold and the pinto next to it love the air filters as exhaust brilliant idea that I haven't seen over here it's just good to see them for future shows that my son will appreciate,that white with orange stripes is different..well done there all amazing in there own way..👋🏻👌🏼
Thanks HBoo RIZZA, I'm amazed in the detail the owners do on their engine bays. Yes, I noticed the colours in Australia some were quite different from what was offered in England, like we never got that lime green on the mk2 RS 2000. One model we didn't get here in Australia was the estate version.

@@hboorizza6439 On the mk2's there was a light green metallic paint available and a dark green metallic. I think you had that fluoro light green on the mk2 RS 2000...that colour looked really cool. The Sundowner Van, being that yellow and blue one, that was a factory car from 1978 onwards, available as a 1.6ltr and a 2.0ltr pinto.

Hello Jeancharles, the Cosworth powered ones can make lots of horse power, something like 400hp+. In a light body and with a great rigid chassis would be fun driving around mountain roads.
Mr Morrison, sometimes the owners do sell their cars, that is how and where I bought my mk2 RS 2000, but often then not unfortunately the owners have such an enjoyment and passion owning their classics that they won't sell even until their last breathe. Another event coming up in October, I'll film it with my new cameras.

Some of these cars were fakes the front wings were flared arches with quarter front bumpers.I traded in my escort mexico for a new rs2000 back 1n 1974 and I sold it in 1980.Oh what memories at the age of 24 did I have.
Hi Malcolm Morrison, yes a few are replicas or fakes, but they did quite an exceptional job. There are two original mk1 Escort RS 2000 in the club, one is orange and the other is blue. The Mexico on the video I'm told is a replica, but not 100% sure. Oh! you had a Mexico and a RS 2000...I would love those two, but I do have a mk2 RS2000 and a mk2 GS rallye pack van, the van is being restored. Thanks for the reply.

Back in 1980 I sold my mk1 and bought a mk2.That was the biggest mistake of my life apart from meeting my ex fiance.I sold the car as fast as I could and bought a golf GTI and I loved the car to pieces. Now I am69 years young Ihave no car and onlly my bus pass but Iam happy.

The mk2 RS 2000 all ok, just have an issue with the left side dash lights. GTi golf, drove the first ones, really nice.
Driver churchyard that would be something. I think I would stay with the pinto and kent engines as the BDA, BDG and Lotus engines are really expensive to rebuild.

Hello Jeancharles, same here I like the mk1 and mk2 Ford Escorts and the Capri from the 1970's. The club I belong to in Melbourne will have their big once a year show next week, so I'll get some new filming done. The club displays small fords, so there will be early Capri's, Cortina, Anglia, Escort mk1, Escort mk2, some later Cosworth Escort, Fiesta and many more. True, many people say the Capri was a smaller version of the Mustang. I know England, Spain, Portugal Germany had the Escorts mk1 and mk2, did France also have these Escorts? Also, I've seen them in Thailand, Philippines and South Africa, but they never released them in the USA. Australia had some very unique models from the factory, like the GS Rallye Packs..Like the RS in mk2 form , but a flat nose and standard front seats. Australia also had a special Sundowner van in mk2 and a factory 4 door mk2 RS 2000 which had a different model number stamped on the id plate as compared to the 2 door version. Thank you Jeancharles.
Recorded the RS 1600, but wasn't on the SD card? It was a yellow one with factory flares, club sport with these two fixed high side lumber seats. It was left hand drive.
Jeancharles, the ones I see that are for sale in Australia vary in prices depending on condition. A 1970 Lotus twin cam can sell between $40,000 to $50,000 AUD. A mk1 RS 2000 between $50,000 to $70,000 AUD a mk1 2 door in normal trim about $7,000 to $20,000 AUD. I would love to have a RS 1600, but maybe a Lotus twin cam in the future is more in my budget.

Why do the mk1 ‘s down under look so good I know the twincam come in diffrent colours when in England we just got white but their trim is from better
We did get various colours in Australia, orange seems very popular, always wanted that combination, but the prices have risen so much.
The Green cosworth belongs(ed) to my mate Pete. Genuine TC I believe prior to much modification.
