Man I was looking all over for how to get the slide lock back into place!! You solved that with your video! Excellent! Great video! Straight forward and to the point. Loved it!

I was confused as hell by that spring guide. Thanks!

Thank you very much. I do NOT fire this gun a whole lot art all because I absolutely LOVE my Springfield. I have a Glock 45, 9mm. That is what I always carry. I bought my wife a Glock 19, 9 mm and she loves it. I can never remember how to take my Springfield apart. Thank you again.

Thanks for the video. I just bought a Springfield 1911 Emissary, which doesn't have a barrel bushing, but this video helped me a lot with my first cleaning!

Great video. I like how you stop between disassembly, cleaning, and re-assembling.

Thank you! We try to keep everything as simple as possible, so if there are any new gun owners watching, it's easy to follow.

Thank you for this! I was having a hard time getting it back together and all the other videos on UA-cam didn’t have the exact same 1911

Man I picked one up about 3 years ago. Didn't really care for the two piece full length guide rod so went with standard GI and flat wire recoil spring bumped up a notch from Wilson Combat. I have no real problem with the full length but was looking for something a little easier in the field break down. I absolutely love this pistol. Flawless.

I'll be doing the same. Needing tools just to field strip a gun is ridiculous. I've owned other full size 1911s. They were far easier to field strip.

@@Lexicologist1971glock is king for field strips lol.

      @@BenStolen-fn5kq, I think H&K's are easier.

I did the same thing. I'm not a fan of full-length guide rods. I dislike needing a tool even more.

The barrel doesn't lock back into place. It kinda does but it easily falls back out.

I hated this experience. My second time doing it and it wasn't any easier. I'm never doing this again. My other guns are easier.

Very nice video, especially for newbies or inexperienced 1911 owners. However you should mention the use of medical or neoprene gloves because cleaning solvents and solutions can be harmful to exposed skin. Also safety glasses to protect your eyes in case the recoil spring, guide rod, or barrel bushing comes flying out.

Anyone lose the recoil spring plug while shooting. I think there was one that an allen rench would screw in and out... but first cleaning it was not there.

I'm right there with you! I haven't even shot the thing and it is scratched. I own two Sig 1911s. Neither are scratched. I just brought it home and I already hate it. FU Springfield.

Is the spring directional on an A1? I know with one of my firearms it is.

I just field stripped mine. That was ridiculous! Springfield should be ashamed of themselves.
