wow can't believe that highlights were so long back in the day....I remember them being longer then nowadays but not this long. Favourite from this year was the win at Anfield.
84/85. Both Chelsea Tottenham games was all ticket both well below capacity. Chelsea held 44k Tottenham 48k. This game all ticket Spurs poor turnout. At Spurs Chelsea had the whole park lane end 8.500 corner flag to corner flag what they was given 11.30 kickoff. The empty bit between the Shelf and Park Lane is only the away bit if given to the away team. It a home section when Spurs had half of the Park lane End. Paxton 9.500 cos it had more seats. Shelf 23.000 Main stand 7.000. How could the ground hold 48.000 if the Park Lane End held 6.000.1987 Venables first game in charge. Spurs got 47.000 v Liverpool
Was it? I know Chelsea were Alan Green's boyhood club. Looking back, Motson did get very excited during the 6-0 against Newcastle in 1980, and he called the Everton match in the 2017 championship season the best premier league performance he'd ever commentated on. Seemed a bit excessive even then.
We sold out on what chelsea gave us, this was police advice as this was down as high risk, what a shit stadium, remember going there in 1997 and seeing stewards outside carrying buckets with ‘help save the bridge’ on them, 4,5 years later they win the lottery, how things have changed, it’s not football anymore, thanks to sky sports it’s now a business
Yes if I remember rightly it was all ticket and an early kick off on police advice in case of big trouble with rival fans. Spurs had a restricted allocation.
The only 2 teams which filled out Stamford Bridge away end was west ham and Millwall , even man United or Liverpool only filled half of the north stand
stamford bridge was a big arena then compared to the crap one now. roman should rebuild SB as big as the TH stadium now and dont forget reinstate the oval shape like the old SB.
@@duckjive1 The old SB could hold over 80K - 82K against Arsenal in 1935 so was a big ground. Plenty of capacity for away fans as well. If they came light like Spurs here that always made it look half empty ;)
COME ON TOYTENHAM! JUST GET EVERY MAN BACK TWO FEET IN FRONT OF GOAL AND WHENEVER IT COMES TO YOU JUST KICK THAT ROUND THING AWAY OR BELT IT FORWARD.WHICHEVER ONE LOOKS MORE SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE!
Hod making it look easy, even on a paddy field. Imagine some of the modern day players on such a surface.
Class wasn't he? Had the pleasure of meeting him around this time,I was 10 and a photo was taken of us which I've since lost(twat)..

Notice the exclaimed "Yes!!" from Motson when Nevin scores. Chelsea being his boyhood club.

@@Spectrescup I've heard him talking on the radio about being taken to watch Chelsea by his dad in the late 50s and early 60s
