Drag raced for years at local level before getting into rally. The game has some discrepancies for sure. That being said, it's something different, which is a good thing!
That’s true I just hope they make another one in the future and learn from the mistakes of just patch this one up a bit (ability to change camera angles, have elevation and weather affect times for example I can run the same time in Arizona as I can in Indy , etc). Overall it’s not too bad.
You mean like warming the tires up halfway down the track? 😂
@@michaelhardy5654 or funny cars reving?
@@codytroyer9474 they still don’t go that far?
@@codytroyer9474 grew up on the track in Atlanta I’ve seen everything I feel like I’d have a good gauge of it… I’ve seen everything from snowmobiles to hayabusa swapped smart cars
Jeff, thanks for playing this and thanks for plugging the NHRA. This means a lot to us hardcore fans who are trying to get the word out about how awesome that our motorsport is. This game far from perfect but it's a nice base to return to after not having a NHRA game for 15 years. Hopefully this will lead to more in depth development with the game and more interest in the sport of drag racing. 🙏🏾
Yea I absolutely love drag racing! Nothing like the smell of burnt rubber in the evening! But I agree with you! I’ve been wanting a drag racing game since NHRA on PS2!
As someone who grew up at the drag strip, and playing NHRA games on my PS2, this game is a welcome addition to my collection, after so many years without a new NHRA game.
its a trashcan amirite
Ps2 countdown to the championship 🔥🔥🔥
I remember playing the older version of their games back I'm my early teen years. The graphics look amazing on this new game. I'm glad you did this video. I never knew this they had a new game so I'll have to get it.
It launched august 26, quite new. I would like to see more content on the game, like actual complete drag racing events.
As someone who grew up near there, they did a great job recreating Pomona Raceway...hell even the mountains are accurate. great vid Jeff!
Yes, I grew just 6 miles away from there in Fontana for the 10 out of 18 years I’ve lived in California
I love the content you put out. Keep it up! I would like to see more NHRA.
mannnnn wouldnt it be insane to have a drag racing game online like iRacing, but i know everyones net connection is different soo there may be a delay for some and wouldnt be fair to someone to loose, but would be cool to see lobbies with like 8 to 16 people, in a tournament.. and while u are waiting to race in your matchup u can watch the others lol
I have said this and said this. Id probably play I more than late model dirt racing if you could play online. Ththis would be a killer money making game if they would do it
Apparently there used to be up to 32- and 64-player fields for Bethesda's old drag racing games of the 90s, over the Internet connections of the time. Based on that, I have hope for a return to sim drag racing's former glory lol
@@cport1991 so lazy you can’t even look it up to see if your claims are true
@@TheMinnesnowtan Lol. I've confirmed since but the websites that the old multiplayer leagues used are long gone from the Internet, so I had to search through the Internet Archive's saved copies from the late 90s and early 2000s. The game was advertised to support up to 64 players in multiplayer, and I was able to confirm that the old leagues did at least 32-player tournaments by looking at their race results pages. Look up the Simulated Hot Rod Association, World Hot Rod Association, and Online National Street Car Association websites from about 1999 to 2002 on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. It was all quite interesting stuff, seeing how folks organized online drag racing over 20 years ago.
@@cport1991 I stand corrected, sir
I went to my local track and remember seeing top fuel dragsters for the first time and they were so loud and quick from the start to finish
I can’t wait to go to the nationals Sunday. It’s my first ever drag related event. Been to the 500 stuff like that but never seen cars that are made to go fast in a straight line. I CANT WAIT TO GO. I’m so exited
Yea, haven't seen a recent drag race in person but did when I was a kid. Even back then they were awesome to watch and hear.
This is really cool to watch Jeff. Keep up the great work and have a great weekend!
Another 1st look! Jeff you're killin' it with all these new game vods!
Forget what everyone else thinks your 1st looks are great!
Thanks!!
The first looks are great, but the games itself... not so much.
@@driftspecs13 bro the man is trying to please everyone so just chill
@@dylanpodges393 I'm not knocking Jeff, buddy. I wouldn't watch his channel if I didn't enjoy his content. It's not his fault this game is so bad. The game studio behind it is horrible and puts out nothing but stinkers.
Forget what everyone thinks as long as you enjoy doing it that's all that matters. I watch every video you put out and I've been subscribed to your page since 2020 first video I saw was the tornado video and I've been here ever since watched a lot of your old videos as well. You got great content dude and better to see the games like this so I know if I want to buy it or not.
Burnout advice: shift into 2nd then release brake.
Staging advice: stop when the staged light is first on and don’t roll to 1 inch…better et’s
Love the videos you been putting out
Gotta love Jeff's brutal honesty 😂 "And absolute death with...no fire...in the replay system at all.. 😐"
This game is a great time killer and im actually enjoying what's there so far; hope they add more as time goes on
I have literally been thrown to the left or right in the burnout frequently. With no steering adjustment, I don't know what to do to fix it lol
Games like this will never be like real life no matter how many people wish . That said I'm happy you played this game I too am I NHRA fan I grew up with those beautiful cars and sounds and my only issue with the game as I see it is the crash physics it's looks pretty bad like it was rush in that part and not finished
Yes!! I was hoping you would play this game!
Looks so amazing! Used to love playing the NRHA games growing up! The graphics have come a long way! Haha
Good to see more racing games lately.
HI jeff i love supporting ur vids keep it up brother.
Cool. I grew up 5 miles from the big time drag strip Raceway Park and watched the races all the time until it closed a few years ago because of the NIMBYs. I’ll definitely check this game out. Thanks for the preview
Yea I used to go to Raceway Park every year with my dad for the races....Stupid locals crying about the nose when the track was built before most of the houses there....
You have to see it live and feel every moment of the races
Outside of the clipping in the burnouts, the audio is immaculate.
I remember watching Kenny Bernstein (Budweiser) be the first top fuel racer to break 300 mph. I believe he topped out at 315 mph that day, and it was amazing. That's basically going to from 0 ludicrous speed (aka plaid) LOL.
301.70 was his run. At Gainesville track in 1992 I think.
@@simtruckingwithmelon Hmmm. I remember seeing the time clock as it lit up and it said 315, but it's possible it was a different race he had done. Either way, KB was the first 🙂
What a coincidence, I was literally just listening to your “Throwing out the caution” cover song of Blake Shelton’s NASCAR song! 😂
I love going to the 4 lane zMax Dragway in Concord, NC. If you’ve never been you have to make the trip one day Jeff!!
I was super excited for the game..... But i feel like NHRA dropped the ball by not having wheel support. Also, i was told that you cannot run off the end of the track into the sand trap? It force stops you
Well; you aren't supposed to be in the sand trap in the first place unless its a brake or parachute failure
@@Duvstep910 And thats literally the point. You should have to stop the car by yourself. In this game, you can literally stay floored and it will stop you
Make it a series
You can’t do anything on your own.. play3d it for a couple hours and got refunded
If they fix some of the sounds, and get rid of the pre race notifications, it could be a little better
This game seems pretty cool and I agree with you there's alot there to it but it is pretty cool I would play it and I would definitely like to see more of this. Keep up the great work much love to ya Jeff have a good one take care God bless and I will see you on the next one later
love the content keep it up
Bro looks great. You are putting out great content brother. I like it because u put out content for everyone’s likes. Keep being you
I went to race back in May in VA. The crew actually starts the car on the track by dumping regular 87 octane gasoline into the engine. after that the nitro methane kicks in. Its a smell you'll never for get and neither will your sinuses. I think it would be cool to add that feature in future games to make it more realistic.
I made the mistake once of standing downwind of a top fuel during warm-up in the pits in the mid 90's as a teen, and I still vividly remember how much it wrecked my throat and sinuses. When you see the crew putting on the gas masks, you know it's time to check your location.
Haters are going to hate... They are just doing their job. Love you as a content creator, Jeff; thus, I will enjoy whatever content you put out! Thank you for the entertainment as well as the background company as I am out here grinding for the mighty $! 😀
I'm super excited to try out this game Jeff have a great day and enjoy yourself
Man I remember back in the day playing the Ihra drag racing game I believe it was on the original Xbox. You could build your own motors and cars and change timing and just everything. It was an awesome game.
Hope to see more of this
The audio drop out is weird. I know in Firefighting Simulator: The Squad it does that often as well. It could be the game engine isn't as optimized in NHRA as it should be. It isn't bad of of a game, but it really needs improvements. The on screen hand holding is definitely needing an off switch.
It drove me nuts watching you not hit your shifts, you gotta pay attention to that light...looks like a fun game though
I was hoping you would cover this!!
God this made me wanna go back to the track. I used to go with my fam all the time to see the top fuel dragster and WOW nothing can quite capture the feeling in your chest when they take off. Also keep up doing different kinda of video, better to see something different that you enjoy versus forcing content you don't every really like.
Jeff, I love watching any game you play because your content is always fun. Who agrees? 😏
for sure i agree
I'd love to see more of this.
Just went to their website. Had no idea it was already out. Definitely gonna have to pick this up next time I'm at Walmart.
I don’t know what “those people” are talking about I love seeing new games whether they perform well or not 👍🏻
obviously you arent buying them because your comment makes zero sense
Jeff is 100% correct, if you haven't been to an NHRA race in person, do yourself a favor and get to one!
Thanks Jeff for the "first look" videos lately, I truly feel that STEAM reviews are as toxic as some of the game are nowadays, and I really rely on these types of videos to make a real decision on what games to try or not try...
I’ve always wanted to go to the races in Norwalk since that is just a few hours from where I live. I have never been able to make it up there. I kinda lost interest after my dad passed away 10 years ago.
well you could always use "torrenting" as a "try-out" system.. torrent the game first, and if you like it, and its something you will play, THEN support the devs and buy the game... i think this is an ethical use "pirating" ...
Seems like a lot of downtime for only a few seconds of action. Also, I was friends with Shawn Langdon in elementary school, and it’s cool to see him in a video game now. Thanks as always for the info Jeff!
Just imagine spending millions and having to work on the car for hours irl.
Thats what she said!
Hey Jeff…in super, pro mod and pro stock. Once you are staged hold brake and throttle before green…you’ll get a launch and start winning.
Jeff. First off great video. Secondly I have some drag racing tips for ya.
1. Launch when you see the amber light. Your reaction times are what’s losing you races
2. Don’t stage till it says 1 inch. As soon as the bottom half of the blue stage light turns on stop the car and get ready to race
Love the video's you do.
Looks good,hope to see more...
Game looks so sick and fun! As someone who drag races a lot
Not the game for me, but I'm glad it exists! I think every racing fan should have a game to play if they can't afford to do the real thing!
I don’t think the game is as bad as the Steam reviews make it seem, but it’s very underwhelming, plus $50 for the standard edition (complete is $70!) is an insult to its consumer base.
If it was $19.99 standard and $29.99 complete, I think it’d be a respectable low-budget game with a few oversights and some tweaks needed.
I think we need more of this game.
Bought this for Xbox a couple of days ago and am really enjoying it.
they need to add the car brands. like toyota,Dodge,Ford etc
Exactly, getting bad nascar 09 vibes
I will be buying this. Some Drag Racing would be quite nice. Awesome!!
Just so you know you want to stop immediately when you light up both staging lights. Not when your close to breaking the beam.
depends, if you know what youre doing it can help to stage further
He was also burning out wayyy too late
More .Please, Thank you.
I watch for the commentary, never know what sound Jeff is going to make. Game doesn't matter I watch for the different things Jeff does lol
Ive been to the atlanta well commerce dragway and unfortunetly when I went was the last year they had the property
My uncle used to sponsor this dude named Tim Goff and his drag bike. So, we'd make our way down to Maple Grove every now and then. Which is a little under 2hrs away.
Admittedly, it's not the kind of racing I'd go out of my way to watch but it was always a fun time regardless.
The game itself looks okay. Maybe I'll give it a shot at some point down the line.
You would benefit from using the break and gas before launching. Works like having a trans break
Hey Jeff! I live near Bandimere! Thats sweet they have it in the game
I had the opportunity to be in the pits with the mac tools car and the dhl cars in epping. So much fun
I would love to see more
Great video bro
(You probably won't see this) my grandpa was a drag racer in the NHRA and we still have the car... seeing this game makes me wish more and more that I was around for his racing days
You need to burnout to get tire heat, the tire color in bottom left indicates it.
more of this game jeff. seems very indepth.
Jeff, the reason the steam reviews are contradicting your opinion is because they focus on finding all the negatives and thats it, they cannot see the good things. Personally I love theAngler, it has its issues but you gotta treat it as a beta release. Not a full release (even though it technically was).
Whether we find the games interesting, your videos and presentations are always appreciated.
I’ve been at the races two times in California Sonoma raceway
I drag race and I am only 15 the weather and how hot or cold it is does matter because it effects the way your car moves if it is to cold you won’t get a good pass if it is too hot you won’t get a good pass you want to go out to the drag strip on a good day where it isn’t too hot or too cold
Super Awesome!!
the game is cool would like to see more of it
My biggest problem and I just got the game today is keeping the temperature in the tires at the lower classes
It would have been cool if the game company could have gotten the licenses for the vehicles
Thank you Jeff for the video.. I seen the game on the Xbox store and was wondering if it was worth the money.. I think if it was cheaper it would be worth getting for sure. Love all your videos..
would genuinely want to see you play through the career more.
I looooooooooooove this game keep playin fun stuff
my buddy Brian did all the voice over commentary in the game, I will be sure to pass this to him to let him know your thoughts on the game
I got this game last and I absolutely love it
not a bad looking game hopefully it improves up
I went to the us National Friday and I loved it it was my first time
If they update the sounds an no cutting off of sounds, like make it more louder like in person I'd buy it
I mean it has potential. I pretty much agree with your review.
Sad thing is the Atlanta Dragway is closed down. Good to see it made it into the game.
Looks like it has potential, but they need to fix that audio issue sooner than later. That'll throw you off!
I’d be willing to give this a shot
If someone makes a modded server of this with street class and what not with cars rendered in I could see it being huge like a FiveM/1320video collab type of thing
If they let this game be modded it will take off in certain communities 100%
have you played F122 yet? if not i do recommend giving it a look! super fun game and keeps you on your toes 100% of the time!
The graphics look amazing
Just to give you a tip ,wait for the shifting light to turn green before shifting 💚💚♥️😂😂
NHRA is awesome Jeff
A funny car is top fuel technically, it is just sometimes separated because they are slightly faster with better aerodynamics
Would love to see you and the boys race each other in a career if possible.
hope they fix it up, cutting sound common, plus more depth
NHRA dropped the ball so hard on this one. I really wish this game was as good as it looked
