Many people only see Freddy on the stage but don't realise how much work he has done behind the stage to get where he is today. I think his greatest contribution to Taiwan has actually been encouraging young people to find their voice and become more engaged in politics.
As a tibetan, i'd say taiwan has right for self determination and independence. I support freedom, justice, human rights and free speech. H.H. the Dalai Lama is not only the spiritual leader, also leader of peace and justice.
John Oliver's HBO show got me interested in Freddy Lim and what he's trying to do for Taiwan. He reminds me of Serj Tankian and System of a Down for what they're trying to achieve for the Armenians.

Seediq Bale was very clearly a black metal record. Everything else by them is imo more akin to Melodic/Blackened Death Metal. Especially Mirror of Retribution and Takasago Army are Death Metal records. I think it's not wrong to call them either a Black or a Death metal band^^

From all I've read and heard he's just a guy who loves his country and his people. He expresses that in both his music and his politics. He's a nationalist who's pro lgbt and feminist (not in the crazy blue-haired authoritarian style, actually just pro equal rights) and generally more on the left-liberal side. He puts much value on the cultural identity and history of the Taiwanese people, both indigenious and ethnically chinese. Overall he seems like a reasonable and admirable person. That's my opinion^^

Back in 2016, he got his "congress seat" (representing his own party, "time power"), actually GIVEN by DPP (pro-independence party, where the current president is from. Both parties had very close relationship). Later on, these two friend parties break up, because his party founder exposed the current president (from DPP) smuggling more than 10 000 cartons of cigarettes in her plane when she visiting other countries... Because he desperately needs the support from DPP to continue his congress seat in next year (2020), and his rival is much stronger than him, who is from KMT (pro-China) So he conflicted with his own party founder and left the party (time power) in this month. BTW, his mother is doing business in mainland China (earning a lot, and well, to support his career), ye, the country he claims to "hate" so much. All in all, he is very speculative...
Smuggling cigarettes was wrong .. but don’t ignore the point that it has been like that for over 20 years, it was not just her AND we don’t even know if she knows anything about it. AND she is trying to take the responsibility and find out the truth and punish them , yet you DPP haters oppose that as well for whatever reasons, as though nothing she has done is right. But this kind of conflicts also exist in Australia ( liberal and Labour Party ) and in the US... in our issue, which side to support for the president election, I have the same view as Freddy as he said “ he will support Tsai Yin Wen win the president election, as we can not trust KMT to protect our democracy and right. But within Taiwan, our internal issues, we should supervise DPP by elect smaller parties”. I will not support KMT as they don’t care about environmental issues, for example, all of the KMT county councillors in MiaoLi rejected to protect our endangered Leopard cat, instead they want to build more highways and destroy their habitat to build an ironic “environment saving” concrete park just for show.
