Air New Zealand ✈ Boeing 737 Final Flight (NZ557) - 6/9/15

Flight NZ557 on the 6th of September 2015 was the final ever flight of an Air New Zealand 737 after 47 years. I was fortunate enough to be on board this special flight operated by the airline and documented the celebrations conducted. Operated by ZK-NGI, the second to last Boeing 737-300 off the production line on the commonly served Auckland-Christchurch flight.
Sadly the service was scheduled in the night so the outside footage is not spectacular.

I've flown on the AIr NZ 733 tons of times from WLG-SYD and back and most likely have been on NGI. Its a gorgeous plane with a lot of history! Very sad shes gone!

These are the only 737s i've ever flown on, i've done the CHC-AKL sector a few times each way with them. Back in Nov 2014 I witnessed a really spectacular 737 landing at CHC into a 55-knot crosswind; the plane seemed almost to stand in the sky on finals across the city. The actual touchdown was perfect and the pilot clearly was a skilled old-hand at coping with the vagaries of the NZ weather.
I'll miss these old birds - its all A320s now......

The 737 was my first Air NZ flight to the Gold Coast 10 years ago even though that flight was operated by Freedom Air. Still a great flight.

Cheeky Kent they replaced the 737 because of the new led approach mode on the a320 which helps them fly into airports such as Quenstown and Wellington

I've flown on a 737-300 before when air vanuatu used to have them.

+covoflyingace I unfortunately never got to fly on one with Air Vanuatu. I've flown at least 30 times on them with Air New Zealand, a couple of times with Qantas, and once with EasyJet. Not much of a variety there but I've certainly had my fair share flying them.
