    You both shared some great books! Horror is my all time favorite comic genre! It was cool to see you both share such different eras of comics.
    Looking forward to Black Friday! 🔥

    Sweeet video, John. I’ve been thinking about reading the creep show comics. In the past, I’ve read a few of the Red Room stories by Ed Piskor but it was too disturbing for me. Anyway, keep the videos coming 👍

      Thank you so much my friend! I really appreciate you! Those classic Horror comics before the comics code Authority were quite edgy lol. No doubt, their graphic nature can be disturbing to people as well. I think comparatively, newer horror stories are far more graphic in orders of magnitude, so I suspect if you end out getting those old classic horror genre comics, you’ll not only be purchasing a great piece of history, I think while a bit graphic, they are far tamer than the graphic violence that can exist in some of todays books. Thanks again for watching and always feel free to drop me a comment!

    Tales From Horror #9 reprints The Purple Claw #1 (including the origin story). The Purple Claw only lasted three issues but has a cult following. The epitome of it is so bad that it is good. Edgar Allen Poe's The Tale-Tell Heart from Yellow Jacket #1 is the first comic book horror story, in my opinion!

      Thank you so much for your comment and feedback! I will show my Yellowjacket collection one day. I do have issue 1 and just want to show them on the right episode! It sounds like you are also a Yellowjacket Comic collector as well?

    So, full-fledged counterfeiting does happen. Not only that, but the folks at CGC don't catch them in their grading processes. That's a big deal. I would assume that that would put a huge brake on the entire industry. How does anyone know if anything they will ever buy...or have ever bought... is real? It should make every collector pretty worried about the authenticity of their collection. Someday I was hoping to buy some books. This is making me much less positive about it.

      You always want to exercise caution, but in the case of graded books being counterfeits, I do not believe CGC missed them…it’s more of a case of a scammer, tampering with a CGC book, carefully opening it, replacing the book with a counterfeit, and then resealing it hiding the fact that the case was tampered with/opened and then they keep the real comic (probably getting it Graded again, and then they sell the hard to detect “tampered” case with a counterfeit inside (knowing most people do not actually remove the comic from the case anyway) so in essence, the counterfeit book in a majority of the time will never even be touched. Clearly even reputable dealers end out getting stuck with counterfeit books sometimes. I do not think this is a huge issue, but no doubt my friend…it does exist and whenever there is an item of value, bad people are going to try to capitalize on other people. All I can say is, when buying big/expensive books, just exercise caution and of course, be careful.

      @@Johnthecomicguy You seem like a nice guy and I'm enjoying your channel. It's always nice to hear the fans talk. The business guys always seem to have an agenda. The fans are just in it for the fun though. I prefer listening to the fans.
      One more question: How can you be careful? If a counterfeit book can find its way into a CGC case, how can you verify that it is what it says it is?

    • @Johnthecomicguy
      @Johnthecomicguy  2 дні тому

      @@JonsDDVlog Thanks my friend for your kind words. In terms of protection from counterfeiting, I truly don’t know. People are getting better and better at tampering with “temper evident” slabs. As quick as subject matter experts in the industry seem to get clues, new sneaky methods of ripping fans off are created. Personally, I never spend big money on comics. Ever. I just don’t know if I’m capable of keeping up with scammers and personally, I’d rather take my entire family on a cruise rather than own a key comic book. I love comics and the hobby, but I’m much more into partying with my kids etc. I’ll do wish you luck with your collecting journey my friend…and generally speaking, assume if you are buying a major key for a price that seems to be too good…at the very least, be suspect of it.

      @@Johnthecomicguy Not to beat a dead horse... But, it seems like CGC may have seen its last sunrise. If it can't detect the fakes or if thieves can abuse them and dupe the public with counterfeit slabs, there may no longer be a good reason to buy CGC. Were I to buy comics now, it would probably end up being lower grade raw books. Their imperfections would be a good way to know if a book is real or not.
      Thanks for your time. I've just been thinking about this a lot lately. Financially I certainly can't afford to buy the books I've always wanted. I'd have to be almost a millionaire to justify that. Still, I was hoping one day to do a little bit of serious collecting. Maybe someday. Until then, I guess I will just watch channels like yours on YT.
      Thanks again.
