O'Carolan's music, originally written for the harp, sounds wonderful on any plucked string instrument. This solo mandolin arrangement could also be played on mandola, tenor guitar or any other instrument tuned in 5ths.

Really well arranged and played!
Many thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Beautifully played Hugh. I like the mix of dbl stops and chords worked into the melody with some cross picking - excellent arrangement.
Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much!
What should a beginner work on first to play this piece?? I play it on the piano but now I’m learning the mandolin & want to play it on that!
I'm glad you liked it. I think the first step for a beginner mandolinist would be to just play the bare melody, without the harmony notes - perhaps accompanied by guitar? Playing both melody and harmony at the same time on the mandolin can be quite tricky and involves a lot of complex moves with both hands. It might be a good idea to try some similar but simpler pieces first, which have melody accompanied with mostly open strings. I've got a playlist based on a book called First Images which has some ideas that you might like and which might help you get started studio.ua-cam.com/users/playlistPLLBhcMKpJn7FV0061VkoCcroadU0SqYdn/edit
Okay! Great! I will check out your playlist… Can’t wait to get started!
