No, it does sound a lot like the features Electronic Gems uploads,
subjectively, it does sound like synthwave, and not retrowave.
Screw retrowave. Its aesthetic always consumes the prejudgemental minds of the naive, and it becomes a blanket term for aesthetics and genres which ultimately desire to be separated from one another by their artists and communities. Because in reality, synthwave is a subgenre of retrowave, and is not retrowave. I would even go as far to say that it has become its own genre, appealing to lovers of music now instead of retrowave's lovers of aestheticism.
