    Really enjoying your videos. The camera person sounds more excited than you.

      Thank you very much, got plenty of videos on the way so please make sure you sub the channel. Your right about the camera guy, a funny mate of mine. The camera work has come a fair way since we recorded this video. It's hard to find a good mate that can stay smooth and quiet whilst recording. LOL

      Good stuff Nathan. It was my first time fishing there and its a great spot. Also nice to fish somewhere local without the snags.

    Brought back a lot of memories for me. I lived in Williamstown as a child in the 1960's (now back in UK) and caught loads of fish off this pier. Collected mussels from the waters edge on the way to the pier and caught loads of leather jackets, flathead and cobblers? What were they? Gem street pier was another favourite of mine, I'd love to fish here again. We used to get a charter from this pier that went over to St Kilda then out into the bay. We caught hundreds of flathead and as a kid it was great fun but when I think about it now it was such irresponsible fishing and I bet fish stocks were depleted. Hope things are better now.

      Thanks for the detailed comment Stephen. Its always great when one of our videos takes people back to their childhoods. Williamstown has been heavily fished for many years but is still fishing OK these days. These days you mainly catch bream, pinkie/snapper, snook and the odd flathead. Dont seem to get to many leather jackets down this way now. Thanks a lof for your comment, lots of other vids on the channel you might enjoy aswell. Cheers

    Hi Alan loved your videos, just wanted to know if hiding or exposed hook what do you preferred or is better?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  5 років тому +2

      Try and keep as much of the hook covered as possible but ensure that the barb and point are fully exposed. If they are covered with bait then your hook up rates drop. I hope this helps. More useful on our website www.fishingmad.com.au

      Thanks Lincoln. My mate had been bugging me to go there for weeks, was a spur of the moment decision that ended up going really really well. The bite was pretty consistent. The session was cut very short so ill be back there in due time. Thanks for your efforts and posts!!

    does chicken work for bream? Or it has to be maggots and worms? also what size does the sinker need to be?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  4 роки тому

      Yep chicken also works fine. I like to use the smallest sinker you can get away with

    Alan, David here. Will take my son there this Saturday.
    What is the bait you used on that day?
    Are the fish ok for consumption?
    Did you attached a small burley pot attached to line?
    Thanks

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  2 роки тому

      Hi David, I was using scrub wroms, and maggots. Used the small berley pot with some home made berley which can help. Im 100% a catch and realse bream fisho but they shoud be fine from there.

    Would squid work for bait there or pipis

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  6 років тому

      Yes both squid and pipis will work. It depends on what your targeting, if your targeting bream then its hard to go past scrub worms and yabbies, if your targeting pinkies and flathead then pipis and squid are great. Hope that helps, best regards Al from FishingMad

    Can you use worms from a backyard garden

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  6 років тому

      Yep, that would work fine. If they are small size ones then just put a few of them on the hook at the same time.

    Nice vid. Anywhere to launch a yak around their? Looks like a fun little spot to flick some lures amongst the boats

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  6 років тому +1

      I reckon there would be some good launcing spots from there or a little further up near the yacht club. I'm keen to take my yak out there aswell. There are big flatties and pinkies in that whole area and the odd Mulloway and drifting around on the yak with soft plastics would probably go great.

      This time of year and for the coming couple of months there should be plenty of pinkies around there. ill try to get onto a few myself. Might see you down there.

      Great video, i really enjoyed that. Where do you get scrub worms from and are they the same worms that you find in the garden? Thanks

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  4 роки тому +1

      I buy the scrub worms from my local tackle store. Hooked on bait and tackle or compleat angler. usually 10 bucks a container. There a bit bigger then your usual garden worms, but garden works will work just as well just hoof a few of them on the hook at once.

    Does fresh squid work with bream and flatties there?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  6 років тому +1

      Squid is an awesome bait for flathead and pinkies, but only ever caught a few bream on squid. For bream your much better using scrub worms, prawns, bread, maggots etc. Have a look at this article i wrote about targeting bream there www.fishingmad.com.au/nong_bream.html regards Al from FishingMad

      fishingmad I came to Ferg pier this morning flicking both 2.5" grubs and squid but not a single bite ☹ Is it best to fish on high tide? It was low tide when I was fishing. You make it look so easy lol

    Nice work, lovely bream. Just wondering what time of year is best for the bream there?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  4 роки тому

      It fishes well all year round. The pinkies/snapper are seasonal between oct and apr, but the flathead and bream seem to be there all year.
