Fiancée of Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb's son dies after last week's crash in Gilbert

- Caroline Patten, the fiancee of Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb's son Cooper, has died after a car crash that killed Cooper and Sheriff Lamb's grandchild. In a video posted to Facebook, Mark confirmed that Patten died Friday night. Visitation and service will be held for Patten on December 29 and 30, respectively. Both are open to the public.

Dear God. If any consolation, how heartbreaking she would’ve been without him & their precious baby…may they all rest in heavenly peace together.
Didn't Mark Lamb's son also wreck a cyclist causing serious injuries that caused life long impact for that cyclist. Lamb's son was charged with driving while being impaired with substance? So sad for that cyclist as well.

She was the one making the left turn. Sounds to me like they might be covering up her mistakes by saying the truck driver was impaired. That is horrifying.
This is what I came to ask. Was the other driver found impaired? I read the person was driving the speed limit. Unfortunately she was making a left and oftentimes, people making left turns are at fault in most situations.

I believe he never stopped his drinking and driving... And I know she was hanging with hi during his hit and run in town and at the mall. I always wondered what happened to him and hoped he got the help he needed
The man's BAC was only .03. Some THC in his system. Most reports I read said he was driving a normal speed. Wonder if tox reports were done on her. Obviously a terrible tragedy but you wonder if the son was locked up as he should have been for running over a man, the whole family could still be alive.

I'm sorry about your son I know what it's like to lose someone it really hurts and I lost my mom in 1998 and took me a long time to get over it you know I don't think you ever get over losing your mom but I hope that it gets better with you and losing your family like this God bless you and God watch over you

You cannot impede the flow of traffic by making a left hand turn in front of someone. In Az everyday I’m driving straight down the road. Almost everyone seems to want to turn in front of me. They will start to edge out. It’s nerve wracking driving here. Sorry for this horrific loss but we need to fix this problem of knowing the driving rules.
Yes, a lot of un answered questions. Why are they charging someone who has someone turn in front of them? And also why are they 'investigating' if he was impaired, wouldn't they have checked/ known when they made the police report after the wreck?

What is "possible impairment"?? Any test results backing this charge? Red car made a left turn and got hit. She obviously pulled out in front of pickup, what am I missing here? Did the pickup run a light or stop sign??
Nope. And it doesn't take this long to get back lab results. The guy passed the breathalyzer. LE are grasping for straws, so are keeping him in jail until they decide to release the lab results to the guy's attorney. Also, this accident happened mid-afternoon, so the guy likely wasn't intoxicated. But binge drinkers and tweakers like Cooper and Caroline are at it all day long. That explains why she turned into oncoming traffic. Meanwhile, the Lamb family, and their Good Old Boy Club cronies, once again destroy another innocent life due to their incompetence as parents and corrupt mortal center.

@@bluemoon2675 I'm not sure about that. The last update I had on him was a week ago, and he was still in jail. There's a reason why Gilbert PD is being tight lipped about him. If his lab results came back showing he was intoxicated, they would have released it to the press, and we'd be hearing and reading about it by now.
I actually wonder how many breathalyzers they tried on him, saying that they must be broken. I hope the guy is smart enough to sue them. He'd make a killing off punitive damages alone, as the entire LE community is trying to cover this up.

It's sad that the people died but to be honest if she made a left turn in front of a truck she was in the wrong whether the driver of the truck was impaired or not
Not entirely true, it depends on the speed at which the truck was going. It was after dark as well.
If a car is doing double the speed limit from the opposite direction at night it's difficult at best to accurately judge the closing speed. No judgements made here, I'm just sayin..
Not necessarily. If he was speeding and she thought she had enough time then he hit her, then he’s at fault. And if there was alcohol in his system then how can you say it wasn’t a huge factor? If you’re driving while drunk and you’re in an accident, especially where someone dies, you’re definitely going to get the shitty end of that deal. Unless you’re drunk and someone rear ends you, they assume the alcohol is to blame. And rightly so. But with all that, the things I’ve read about the BAC results not being publicized right away is concerning.

Doesn’t matter who you thinks at fault. They should know to take precautions as nobody drives the limit in az and you have your baby in the car… she was responsible for the child’s death. Due to impatience or lack of skill. Whatever the cause. She turned unsafely in front of a truck with the possibility that it was not enough time…
When my kids are in the vehicle with me I drive extra careful.
Not gamble and lose someone is sober and driving the speed limit and will stop if they see me..
Whatever her thoughts were is irrelevant and shame on anyone trying to pass the responsibility for their deaths when it lies with the left turn driver.

Thank you guys for the kind words. We all fight amongst each other and bring sorrow into each other's lives when we are more connected then we believe. I lost my mom, dad, both sets of grandparents and 4 siblings all from alcohol and opiates all within 5 years when I turned 15. I am now 35 and alone in the world besides the family I have created. I wanted to die I felt so alone for so long. Just wanting somewhere to feel I belonged. But I found it. I found it when I turned 30 and opened my eyes to the people I did have. I know what loss is and I know the grief that comes with it. Any help even not in the form of money can really change a moment. I wish everyone though that way. We would have a lot more love and a lot less sadness

They turned a terrible tragedy into another terrible tragedy by arrested the guy not at fault.
And still no public release of his lab results, that typically take less than a week to receive. So, he wasn't drunk, but the Good Old Boy Club decided to lock him up while purposefully delaying the release of the lab results. He probably lost his job, too. I hope he sues the f'k out of the Gilbert PD and the Lamb family.

@@martiwinkler4498 I know. Those BAC test results only take about five days to process. It's not a blood toxicology test, and even those come back in about two weeks. And keep in mind since the MVA involved a sheriff's son being killed, those tests were run as STAT.
If they don't publish that guy's BAC results writing within the next two weeks, we can all rest assured that he wasn't intoxicated, and assume Caroline was.

How about the guy in the truck, that is being held even tho he passed the breathalyzer test? Think about this: the car made a left turn and was tboned by the truck. Truck did not run a light or stop sign, nor was he speeding. Who is at fault here? The car. Is the truck driver in jail because the victim was the son of the sheriff? Sure sounds like it. That's a crime.

Karma, is real, but the other driver was never charged with a DUI, only picked up on suspicion. I can't find where the driver was actually charged. She also in made a left turn, that's failure to yield, oncoming traffic. Technically she's at fault, if the other driver wasn't drunk. If he was, they are both at fault. She failed to trolls oncoming traffic. I am saddened about this, but get the facts straight.

I can distinctly remember Cooper having several DUIs and Moving Violations but yet always seemed to get away with making bad decisions due to his fathers position as Sheriff. Cooper was responsible for a DUI accident that severely injured an innocent person. Im not saying anybody deserves this but nobody really seemed to care when he permanently ruined other peoples lives. Prayers to Sheriff Lamb and the family.

I think the Lambs are a wonderful family. Too think they lost three very precious people to them and say their faith in God is bringing them through their grief.
