OOPS! ALL WHEELS! Wheel of Misfortune + Intervention Pact - MTG Legacy Storm | Magic: The Gathering

TonyScapone plays Wheelmaster in a Legacy League on Magic: The Gathering Online! These matches were played on: 06/04/24.
Killabee is a good friend of mine and has been co-host on my podcast since it's inception. You can always count on him to whip up something both WILD and powerful and you'll usually see him put up some serious results as well. Today we get to enjoy one of his masterpieces:
Killabee's "Wheelmaster" from his Legacy Qualifier 2nd place finish! This list was very similar to the list that he took to a Challenge WIN the week before! Wheelmaster is within the Gamble Storm archetype and is essentially a Belcher deck that is capable of killing the opponent fairly easily on turn one. We employ some tools to allow us to remain relevant and threatening in the mid and even late game so that we aren't as all in as most Belcher decks of old. Urza's Saga and such a high density of draw sevens are easy ways to keep the punches rolling. Eventually, Wheelmaster is going to kill you with either a Grapeshot, Tendrils of Agony, or maybe some Goblin Tokens from Empty the Warrens. Lion's Eye Diamond and Echo of Eons is the combination that is at the heart of these decks and Wheelmaster is no exception to leveraging them effectively.
Wheelmaster is a deck that can be defined by the core of Lion's Eye Diamond, Echo of Eons, Gamble, and Burning Wish.

24:10 why wouldn't you pay 19? you have defense grid in play and its your only way to win this turn. unless I'm missing something obvious going to 1 doesnt matter when in all likelyhood you hit grapeshot or burning wish and just win

same thing at 43:50 I feel like paying more life is worth the high chance you have of winning, especially with defense grid in play. like sure they may be low from paying that much life but you're out of gas and storm count resets.

I mean if we both pick 19, noone gets cards. Their deck plays a million creatures and if we fizzle, we are in rough shape.

Defense grid is pretty irrelevant vs them.

No way, not with a bwish in our hand and 0 mana floating and a grid in play. They are welcome to take a million damage. Also, not everyone is going to bid a million vs grapeshot so youll often be wasting a bunch of life total for no reason. 1 life can make the game a lot harder.​@billybobjoesnow1717
