I'm lovin' the wagon series so far! The wagon has come a LONG way and I'm glad you bought it. Had you not bought it, we'll probably see it in a salvage yard for parts. Can't wait to see more!
I've spent the last 24 hours battling on my wife's Evoque, replacing Disc (rotors in the US) and pads. With the parts company giving me the wrong items necessitating 3 visits back, and battling putting the parking brake in maintenance mode (following rubbish videos), it's now complete. What better way to relax than watch someone else spin the spanners :)
All your projects are great and you're a pretty good mechanic. Everyone loves a save. Esp something that was very expensive that you can now get super cheap and can make to work.
Loving the work you've done so far Mike, I would have a go at tidying up the front door cards. Looks like those cup holders were screwed in, maybe a recover.
Hey Mike, keep the faith. You have done "wonders" already with your wonder wagon and it's worth whatever else it needs as it gets closer to completion. By the way, nice painting job on the tailgate !
Love ❤️ your videos ! You are becoming a great artist and technician on UA-cam !!! Always think of you and Randy when passing through OKC and Tulsa trucking
Love your enthusiasm and tenacity Mike. I'm a BMW and Lexus guy and have a tuned M140i. Hoping to move from the U.K. to the US soon and if I were your neighbour we'd be forever hanging out wrenching and laughing and I'm a big animal lover too. Love to Lola and the ducks.
@@MonkeyWrenchMike Hopefully doing another big road trip through the US. Done a few. Love You folks. Never met nicer people anywhere as an English dude into cars and bikes. Looking for property in rural TN or maybe the FL panhandle. But might swing through OK and east TX. Going to rent me a decent camaro zl1 or dodge charger and blast my way down from NY. Anyway enough of my plans. Good luck with the Merc. But my Favourite is the BMW 750i. Lots of them rotten over here..😀
@@burntnougat5341 yeah tell me about it. This net zero crap was the last straw for me.. Lots to do and think about and its a big life change but I love the US so much it's just a matter of my visa and then hopefully my green card. Hopefully you guys and some states can stay free of the net zero blob and we can left alone to enjoy our cars and bikes in peace. Regards from the peoples republic of England. A beautiful green and pleasant land hijacked by weirdo enviro invaders.
I love it that you are working out of your home garage. Just the same way Derek from VGG started. I like you way better. More down home working man type.
The wagon was an effort of appreciation for the kid-mobile. My M-B of the same vintage required sourcing parts for Lithuania because they were no longer available in the U.S. for a decent price.
Mike, more great progress! I love the 124's and the wagons in particular. An idea for a video or series would be how you find and source all your parts. How to search junkyard sites, ebay, ... Thanks again, I always look forward to your videos.
The wagon (estate) is coming along great Mike. That's awesome you found the spare tire cover and fixed the right side cover. I would inspect ALL the vacuum lines going to and from the transmission vacuum modulator or whatever components MB uses on their transmissions. Hopefully the clutches are not slipping, maybe a band(s) adjustment can be done? The MB wagons can hold a lot of stuff -- only the Peugeot wagon was a bit larger.
So glad the estate is slowly coming together for you Mike, is it going to be a keeper old chap ? Had to smile for the food endorsement 😊 you could see the years of working in TV paying off and fair play to you, i still think youve got what it takes to be on the box 😊. Anyway laters chuckles Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Mike i must say what a fantastic and lovely job that you're doing on that beautiful wagon/estate I'm really enjoying all the content on the Mercedes 19:42
I have an idea for how you can fix your bumper using some plastic repair products I’ve used on my Fieros in the past. An epoxy called Epoxo 88, some screen for backing, and a piece of a bumper from a junkyard. Dremel the hole in yours into a rectangle, cut a piece from the scrap bumper, and follow the epoxy instructions from there. Saved me a lot on an expensive nose cone for my car.
The reason for the ABS light can be. A lower battery voltage rusty brakes which can be cleaned with a few times hard breaking or dirty abs sensors that sits at the axle.
I’m not too sure about your year W124 but check if your transmission is equipped with a B2 piston that will cause many transmission issues, including catastrophic failure, if not taken care of thanks and keep putting out the awesome videos!
Fabulous video Mikey, you managed to pack so much in to this one. Loved the drive out with all the different camera angles. You're such a natural orator with your fun running commentaries. This baby is looking classier and classier by the day, can't wait for another drive around with the new muffler installed. She starts well and idles rock steady too, the old girl has plenty of life left in her, the bargain of the century I'd say. Perhaps the transmission oil filter could do with changing and some fresh fluid too. I always thought the later 320 was a 5 speed transmission not a 4, but I could be wrong. Personally I think you look healthy and handsome already but hell if you wanna turn yourself into an Adonis well so be it. 😎👍
Mike progress has been made on this day and the wagon is starting to shape right up. One thing I did notice on your drive around was the lack of tint on the widows, so either put on some light window tint or keep a pair of sunglasses in the car at all times. Keep up the good work and I'll be watching. 😀✌❤
I had 2 w124 E320 both the transmission fail at around 180000 miles they have some weak points like wire harness and ac other than that they are bulletproof
Wonder Wagon, that’s it! the perfect name. I continue to wonder what u see in it.😀(I will say it was nice of those fine folks to send u those parts👍🏽).
hello Mike, the tail gate has a electric motor on the cacth if you rest the door on the cacth it should close it self just like the soft close door on a s class, as for the dash light theres a dimer switch just above the warning lights one is for the setting the time the other is the dimmer. try turning it left and right. plus check all the fuses first for the lights ect there knowing for having a bit of crud on them
Love these video about the wagon. Does it has the engine harness problem? Or it has the updated version? Lots of w124 got updated upper harness but forgot about the lower harness. You might wanna double check that if it has the updated lower harness too. Keep up the good work. 😊
Use code MWMIKE50 to get 50% off your first Factor box at bit.ly/44LDOyH

Mike, I love the fact that you are literally saving a wagon. #savethewagons
What can go wrong for $ 125 ? You got a running and driving Mercedes , Mike .
In this episode, Mike covers his spare tire, cant find his nuts, and decides its time to lose weight.
Well those kind of things happen when you hit the age of 39 Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
All we know is... hes not the stig. hes called monkey wrench mike
Welcome to Bottom Gear!

The "way back" camera location was a cool idea! Every kid sat in the way back!!!! even the VW Beetle!!
The saran wrap's cost was worth it in entertainment value getting to see Mike unravel the taillight.
I really enjoyed the commercial. Keep that quality up!! Excellent executed.

Thanks!

2-3 flare install the k1 piston repair kit, the modulator will cause more firm shifts in all the shifts

Yep, There are screw holes everywhere
Good job Mike on restoring the Mercedes. You stole that car 😎😎👍👍
Great job Mike!

Aww thanks!
I was OCDing about that taillight. Thank you for replacing it.
Mike, for $125 you've really got a solid car. We've used Factor, their meals have kick but they're good.

I am inspired and impressed. Look at the car now.
Loving the Mercedes’ test drive! Thanks!!!
Your E320 is looking awesome indeed. Nice job on getting the parts for it. Keep up the great work.

Mike you have done such a great job at restoring that car, and the barbie car.. Next do the mechanicals next.

Old Mercs are fun to work on.
I like the wagon. Maybe you can change the oil and transmission fluid and see if that helps the 2nd to 3rd shift.
If the transmission flares, check the fluid level. These transmissions flare when they are low on ATF.
