The picture of the elderly woman is his mom. His wife is the woman who's watching him, June Carter Cash, who stayed with him through all of the good and the bad times. That was a beautiful reaction guys, keep up the good work.
Actually a cover of a Nine Inch Nails song, but Cash really made it his own.
Thank you for that!! Your right!
@@enterthecronic Trent Reznor said its Johnny song now
the woman in the photo was his mother. his wife is the one standing in the stairs. this was his last song and the last time he sang. his wife died a little while after this released and he died soon after her. its the most sad song i ever heard and the story behind it makes it sadder. the way he closed the piano was heartbreaking because after this it never opened again, it was like he was saying goodbye😭
Not true. This wasn't his last song and not the last time he sang. He recorded over 30 songs after his wife died. "Like the 309" was his last song recorded.
That Song in combination with that video is a "tear in eyes" guarantee 😮💨
It was already mentioned before, it's a cover song. But when Johnny Cash covered this song, he made it his own. He put new layers on the song, with the arrangement, the instrumentation, his voice and also with this video. There are so many people who think this song was written by Johnny Cash. For me the pouring of the wine is the most heartbreaking scene in this video. It is like he's pouring out his life on the table before the final curtain falls. It is also symbolizing that his fame, the money, the golden records he has gained is worth nothing in the end. And see his shaking hand as he does so. Heartbreaking.
Next song? I would suggest Folsom Prison Blues or Ring of Fire.
This is probably the best song Cash wrote. Many people think nine inch nails wrote it but they just sampled it in the 90’s
I've seen this music video so many times, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I CRY.
He suffered from alcohol and drug addiction when he was younger but his wife dragged him out of it. June Carter Cash help him find his Christianity and "I walked the Line" is about her.
The song is of course a Nine Inch Nails composition, which they ceded to John after hearing his rendition. Adding more pathos…he died shortly after recording.
Depends on your definition of shortly. This was released in November 2002, he died in September 2003.
Heard this hundreds of times, cry every time...
Yes, it is very powerful. Like him, I'm a old man who's carrying regrets and guilt for the screw-ups and bad stuff I've done, so this song really hits home.
You should both watch "Walk the Line" - a really good movie about the life of Johnny Cash. He had a wild ride.
That was his last song. Not long after, his wife died, and shortly thereafter he followed her.
He actually recorded a few more after this. The last song he wrote and recorded was Like the 309, released posthumously in 2006.
It's impossible to watch this and not tear up. It grabs your soul and won't let go. Johnny's life was as American as it gets from the lowest lows to the highest highs. In a way he became part of the conscience our country by his support of the poor and down trodden and those who made bad choices all while dealing with his own demons. There are no words to describe what Johnny Cash brought to music. Through it all, he survived and became of Legend among Legends. If you haven't heard the song "Sunday Mornin' Coming Down" find the version he did on his TV show in the 70s - WOW. Talk about touch your soul.
I just choked up a bit this time. About the 50th time I've seen it.
Johnny guest starred in several tv shows often with his RL wife June Carter. The few things ive seen him in he played some kind of preacher or gospel singer who scams people but ends up regretting his decisions. He was in an episode of Columbo (not with June) where he played a gospel singer who stages the unaliving of his witch wife and stepdaughter. His real life he seemed to be known for illegal substances and bad decisions so it seemed like the roles he played were him in some ways and this song is about everything he’s done the good and bad..and what does it all mean at the end
It’s good to see a genuine reaction for once. Tears from both of ya. That’s what it’s all about. Music touches the deepest parts of the soul!
Great reaction ...... THIS, is tough for all of us. I love Mr Cash, life long fan. This is the last song he did (cover of Trent Raznor's song from NiN) before he passed away, RIP!! You are MISSED! The picture is of his mother, the other woman in the video is June, his wife. Let's just reflect on his great legacy, a TRUE ..... ICON!!
It hits every time i hear this.
This still makes me cry every time. I am the top of my family tree - nobody is around from previous generations, and I'm starting to lose cousins from age-related causes. It doesn't mean younger people can't experience loss, of course - one of our friends who got out of drugs despite everything stacked against him has seen all his old friends disappear, and that can happen at any age. I suspect that's what Trent Reznor was originally writing about, though it also fits old age so well.
Trent Resnor got a call from Johnny Cash asking him to cover the song. Trent's initial reaction was why would Johnny Cash want to cover an industrial metal song about drug use and refused. Cash called back and said he could listen to what he had and if he thought it was good enough, maybe he'd consider letting him do the song. When Trent heard it, he said Cash had taken the song, that it was now his.
That song is the purist form of pain..
I finally got brave enough to watch. Curled up at Grandads to watch. Luv u guys xxoo ❤
This really hurts. 😢
Beautiful reaction you two. I've listened to this song many times and it hits different today. Love you both ❤
Beautiful reaction guys. One of my favourite songs as a man in my mid fifties it hits home more as I count every year as a bonus to this life. To look back as Johnny did and reflect on how his life has turned out and wonder if you did well and live a good life is so sad.
What song should we do next from Johnny Cash?
A Boy named Sue.
Johnny Cash is one of a kind there will never be another Johnny Cash not a big country fan but for some reason I like Johnny Cash I'm not a big country fan. The Highwaymen would be another group to look into had Johnny Cash Kris Kristofferson Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson
I would encourage you to take a look at Toby Keith's "Don't Let The Old Man In" .... People's Choice Awards' performance if possible.
This is so beautiful. But to get the full context of the song you should check out the original by Nine Inch Nails. A total different experience.
Good one.
NiN leader Trent Reznor was not happy with this cover. But the lyrics are perfect for Cash's experience of life,a fervent believer in God in a constant fight against alcohol and drug abuse. An intense, true, exciting life. Thanks Trent Reznor but thanks above all to Johnny Cash
Love your reaction, regret over past bad choices but he was a true Christian but like all of us he was flawed!
noooooo .. that was his mother. His wife is standing behind him on the stairs.
Thank you so much!! 😀
Please react to TOM JONES BEST BITS ON THE VOICE UK. Then TOM JONES NO HOLE IN MY HEAD
React coke studio bangla season 3 " ma lo ma " song please ❤❤
I’m a believer that if you’re going to cover a song then change it up and “make it your own”, otherwise what’s the point? It’s just karaoke. Tommy Johansson is the Karaoke King! He needs to write his own songs or change the covers that he sings.
Nine Inch Nails cover, he didn’t write this
