I work in publishing and, at the beginning of my career, moved to NYC-at the time it was really difficult to get into publishing unless you lived in NY (the pandemic changed that). I spent a good deal of time exploring bookstores, particularly used book stores! My favorite was Book Off because it was so close to where I worked and has a bunch of $1 books. As far as non-used bookstores, McNally Jackson was always my favorite! They opened the Rockefeller location just before I moved away. ^_^ Thanks for sharing your travel experience! Makes me feel nostalgic for NY but I'll be there later this year to visit my office. And now I'm craving a bagel from Black Seed.
I’ve missed your travel vlogs! 😍 I was in NYC a few times last month and stumbled into a McNally Jackson in the Seaport district - it was so beautiful and I loved the curation of books! We also stopped into Three Lives & Company in Soho which was the perfect corner bookshop! The Greenwich Letterpress was also a darling stationary shop - I bought more cards and pencils than I’ll ever need 😆 Next time I definitely need to check out the Japanese and Korean bookstores!
Ohhh those sound like wonderful stops! There’s a gorgeous French bookstore called the Albertine that I would’ve liked to get to but just didn’t have time. I also wish I’d been able to try the trendy cube croissants from Julien. Always too many things to do in New York!
This is such a fun adventure! Not in NYC but in Santa Rosa Ca there is a Barnes and Noble in a building that used yo be a department store (circa 1920s I think) that is beautiful
Beautiful tour, Miss Emma! My pocketbook would definitely be in trouble with all those adorable cat stationery items haha! Will you be doing a haul of what you got while in NYC?
Haha the stationery was all so dangerous! I was very restrained and only bought two books - a book about Coco Chanel and Death Comes for the Archbishop. Other than that it was just some pens and cards and a notepad, I should gather them up at some point to film a quick haul!
These stores are so beautiful!! I would end up buying everything!!! Thank you for showing all these stores and their displays. (Especially the BTS displays) I really liked seeing the Nintendo Store. Did you take a look at the statues in there?
Yes, they had a bunch of fun displays for the new Zelda game and the Mario figures are so fun! We were hoping for more Pikmin merch or displays because the new Pikmin game just came out, but I guess that’s not one of their more popular brands. 😆
@@BookishPrincess There was pictures floating around online of new Pikmin merch that was just released. If I find the store selling it I'll post the link in Discord.
Thanks! It seemed serendipitous to open that Dorothy Parker poetry volume and come across the book shop poem, so I thought it’d be fun to include. 😄 I’ve read some of her short stories in the past and enjoyed them, although they’re a bit sharp-edged lol. I should check out more of her works!
The McNally Jackson at Southstreet Seaport is gorgeous! Love McNally Jackson -- they are my fave.
Gotta love the relaxing atmosphere of book shopping! 🛍️📚🌈🍨🥤🪁
I’ve always loved your aesthetic and narration!
Thank you so much! 😊

What wonderful memories! $1 books would be so dangerous, lol!
Those book shops are stunning!
So gorgeous! 😍
I'm glad you showed a bookstore in Koreatown. Everyone focuses on the restaurants.
Thanks for showing these. I will look for them next time I visit. You have a beautiful calming way you film and present.
Thank you so much! 💕
I'm surprised we didn't bump into each other. 😎📚👍
So much fun! Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching! 💕
Nothing better than browsing in a bookstore! 📚The Morgan in particular looked swoon-worthy--can't wait to see your video about the library and museum!
The Morgan was so gorgeous, I can’t wait to share the other vlogs!

Definitely agree that Becky should have been there with you and your brother. Great video 😊
I wish she could’ve been there, traveling with Becky is always so fun! ❤️ Thanks!
Love it! Looks like it was great fun. 😊
Wow!!
This looks SO fun, Emma! Swoon! 😅♥️ The stationary 😳😆😍♥️ I love the word ‘esoteric’, btw. 😅
Cool! Thank you for the tour 😁

Thanks! 😄

Finally, a video that shows "actually" beautiful bookstores in NYC.

We could have done as well without the music.
Yeah, or maybe YOU could make your own video?
Instead of criticize someone else's work?
The music is perfect. Fits very well.
What a splendid virtual visit to NYC bookshops! Looking forward to the rest of your NYC videos. Would live to hear your thiughts 😅n Dorothy Parker😉
