As PM Narendra Modi asks Mohd Yunus, the head of the Interim government in Bangladesh to "ensure protection of Hindus and other religious minorities" Anam says he is "almost ashamed" at the violence that has been targeted at minorities since the fall of the government. But he says "this does not capture the essence of the people of Bangladesh .. just like when attacks take places on muslims in India it does not capture the essence of India or her people." There is nothing wrong with the Indian PM asking for the safety of minorities in Bangladesh.
Definitely nothing wrong. Its absolutely what is required. But what is required more is to set an example at home by the way the minorities are treated back in his home country, and the way he himself treates the minorities. There is a huge irony & hypocrisy in his ways.

Under Hasina’s rule the per capita income of people doubled and all socioeconomic indicators showed impressive growth beating India . Of course there will be some corruption somewhere which is normal in any developing country. Throwing away Hasina’s government through mob violence, looting her personal property from furniture to undergarments is despicable and indicative of utter foolishness of Bangladeshi people. Your country will sink just like Pakistan. Rabid anti India sentiments with whom Bangladesh shares 95% of it border is self destructing. Bangladesh owes its existence to India who saved Bangladesh from genocide rape and political subjugation. Hate for India which has its roots in Islamic jihadi mentality will prove suicidal for Bangladesh. Thankless people only go down the drain.

Please don’t compare the status of Muslims in India with Hindus in Bangladesh. Firstly, The number of Bangladeshi Hindus wanting to take asylum way more than Indian Muslims wanting asylum in Bangladesh or Pakistan. Secondly, compare the crime statistics for each of the communities. Per capita crime among Indian Muslim community is much higher. Thirdly, during riots many Hindus are killed by Muslims in India, I am yet to hear if Hindus in Bangladesh have killed Muslims during riots. Hindus in Bangladesh are a much more vulnerable community.
As an Indian, I respect Mr Anam. He is the Ramnath Goenka of Bangladesh in many ways. And in our case it was Indian Express, and in their case it is the Daily Star. Thank you sir for coming occasionally to enlighten us. For fellow Indians, this man is nothing short of a legend. And has been one of the vociferous supporter for improving relations with India. He is a consistent friend of our country. You might disagree with him but respect him and his views.

But during that same period of time, Muslim population grew to 240% compared to 1974. Naturally... Hindus fell behind in the percentage game! I'm still not sure though that you get the math...

Hasina regime has also taken advantage by showing extremist tendencies in Bangladesh but peaceful Bangladeshi people are very secular. This is the most secular country, we have been enjoying public holidays on every religious events. Islam talks about tolerance and compassion to all communities.
