I understand your point that he should have had it in writing. The question is is every institution providing guidance education in contract handling now that the NIL is in place? Part of the reason there is a player's association in professional sports is that they provide that additional education so that a player can determine on their own if they are being misled by their representation or agent, or if the organization is trying to take advantage of them. Let's face it we don't teach kids in school how to balance a checkbook anymore because writing checks have gone away due to electronic banking. Is this type of stuff covered at WVU in the 5th quarter program? If we still believe there is any tie-in to a student athlete, the university bears some responsibility to ensure that that athlete is educated on best practices, common concerns, etc.

There were media personnel national media personnel that were accusing the basketball player on WVU's team, Raquan Battle? They were inferring that he was not being totally truthful about his mental state that was a big part of why he appealed. They were accusations essentially that he could be and is likely lying just to try to get an additional year. Did he lie? I do not think so. This is the reason we need to have a player's organization and a mediator in the room during all negotiations. And they need to be on paper documented
