I've been getting back into playing and pushing myself to get back into being a trombone player. Thank you for this awesome encouragement. I had to take a 3-4 year break and got back into playing last year. Again thanks for the encouragement. Mic sounds great! Very clear.
On my syllabus at the University of Wyoming, I have listed: “Own your success. - Toby Oft” Thank you for talking about personal responsibility; forwarding this video to my performance majors. ... and yes, absolutely create a podcast!
Yes, please, do a podcast. I have gotten so much from your Rochut videos, so please do more of them. You have inspired me to memorize the Rochut Etudes. Do you have any advice for memorizing them? I wish I would have had these videos fifty years ago when I was in college. Thanks Toby, I watch your videos so often I feel as if I know you.
Ok so you are like the best trombone player I've heard, and I've been wanting to get a bass trombone and I've been thinking about getting the Holton Tr-181 (do you have experience with it? and or would you recommend it?) , and I want to know if you can help me in my bass trombone search
Holtons are nice trombones. I encourage you to Own your sound. There is a sound in your mind that is unique and extremely special. Chase that sound with hours of practice and whatever equipment gets you the closest with the least amount of effort. Advice is good, but Do not “farm out” your equipment decisions to someone else. Own your success.
Merry Christmas and thanks for the inspiration all year.

You made my whole night with this comment - THANK YOU!!
Dear Toby, thank you for your inspirational story that I received as I was just about to start practicing (in Hong Kong, with tuner and metronome). :)

Stream is over but the audio was great! Also, a podcast would be amazing. I’m a trumpet player but a huge trombone lover.
good morning and thanks for the work
