I remember this goal , sensational goal . In my opinion still one of the great goals in English football . This was probably the greatest team in English football history who the European cup 3 times in five years , incredible record which people forget due to the hype of the premier league .
Like you said hype. Sky even after England were dismantled 4-1 by the Germans in the 2010 World Cup were still calling the Premier League the best hahahahahaha
What league were the two teams in last years final from ? And who are the current european champions? Germany played a good game and implemented the counter attack better than anyone in that game, nothing to do with the domestic league , we still had the better players they jusy played better as a team, lampard and gerrard were better than khediara and ozil for gods sake
Celtic fan, that view from behind the goal was a classic, fantastic player in a team of fantastic players.
He’d be worth tens of millions if playing today. Great player..
Absolute stunner, I’ve remembered this goal for over 37 years & have rarely seen a goal to match it, total worldie! 😳👍🏼 take a bow son!
I wasn't there as I was only a kid but I reckon Whelan's in 1985 in the semis is on par.
Macca you were a brilliant Red, sheer quality and a pleasure to watch you play, Franny Mac
That first touch to make it up right in the air to go on and hit it perfection.
Christ almighty I feel old , I remember watching this with my auld fella back in 1980 ,now my son watches it with me 🤔
My favourite all time Liverpool player & one of my favourite Liverpool goals.....spectacular!!😮😮 YNWA.
They won the European cup 3 times in five years , before the hype of the premier league and the Barcelona
The Premier League is all hype,no soul all poxy woke
Terry mac was awesome what a goal what a player he'd be in any team today total class
The talk all day before this match was what Hoddle was going to do to Liverpool. I was on the away terrace with a perfect view and as it went in thought Hoddle can' t do that. Terry Mac what a player
Distant voices and GVMac77 so right. Utter mayhem on the Severn Sisters Road and one Liverpool fan was thrown through a plate glass window. As for the goal itself, I was in a direct line right behind the goal and as Terry Mc drew his foot back, I had this certainty it was going in. It was an Ardilles bad pass ; he did the same in the Milk Cup Final between same sides in 82.
After that experience, there was no chance of me returning for Liverpool's 2-0 defeat in the league there just several weeks later
Just beautiful
So many great Terry Mac goals, but this one and the one at Aberdeen are my joint favourites.
Watched it as a kid. Just as good as I remember, magic times.
One of the best goals I have ever seen lots of trouble outside the ground after the game total chaos
Lived through it to tell the tale. Happy days.
@@123tinhat123 haha yes just about !!!
You don't see goals like that anymore, what a strike what a player.
Spent ages trying to re create this goal at the park when I was a kid.
I was in London that day after watching grimsby, and couldn't wait to get home to watch match of the day and Terry's goal.
What a great player, what would he cost in this game now and the energy level was immense, a true great Macca lad, a magician Red, YNWA son
I was in the shelf side middle tier and had a perfect view of it.
Maddest goal I’ve ever seen.YNWA❤️❤️❤️
Terry Mc Dermott and Graeme Souness often scored goals with long distance strikes!!
Happy birthday Terry
Look how he flicks the ball up then looks up at goal and thinks "right where am i going to put this? i think i'll pop it in the far top corner" GOAT
Here cause of Stevie Nicol
didnt ardillas give the ball away in the corner-i was their never forget that game he had a habit scoring against spurs -i love a mcdermott in our team
lad football is gay
@@JV1080Karma Then why are you here lol
I remember this on MOTD. March 1980. Then we lost to Arsenal in the semis. 2nd year straight we lost semis
The amount of seasons we could have won the Double really grates me..
@@danaldo9193 I've always thought about those 'doubles' that escaped us too. I feel that the two closest misses were in 1988 - when we won the league easily, yet lost to Wimbledon in the cup final. Then a year later when we won the cup, but lost the league to Arsenal - by one goal!
Brian 'Fking' Talbot 😑
Agree with distant voices biggest cockney mob I ever saw pitched battle all the way back to seven sisters
Football doesn't do aways like this anymore. Some games called off for some of London's teams I seem to remember. It was like running the gauntlet getting to Seven Sisters.Wich was more than just a stroll on the best days.
Wouldn't have missed it for the world.
It was almost Hoddle-esque in it's execution.Great goal.
Rather Hoddle's goals were *McDermottesque*.
McDermott one of my all time favourite reds.. but I don't understand.. for years this has been seen as 1980 goal of the season, but so was Justin Fashanu - which is it??
I’m might be wrong, but I think Terry McDermott’s goal was the official FA Goal Of The Season in 1980 & Justin Fashanu’s was the unofficial BBC Goal Of The Season, mainly voted by MOTD viewers.
Terry Mac done this regularly. Should have had umpteen caps.
Then as now, selection for England is never based on merit.
He liked a good goal v Spurs (1977)
Not the original commentary.
I remember the Spurs loon who ran on the pitch waving his fists at us after the goal and was promptly dragged away by the Police. Which we all glad about as he was built like a brick shithouse. Then the fun began at full time, happy days 😂
A crazy day on the seven sisters every London mob must have been out that day for Us ?
On the motd highlights a lot of lads have gone into detail about it.
@r que Tottenham and the council estates by the ground then. ;-)
Cross of the season
Bitter
Who is that in goal for Spurs?
Barry Daines was spurs goalie
@@michaelgrace1298 He was in goal for Spurs when Liverpool stuck 7 past them without reply in 1978. Terry McDermott scored one of the greatest ever team goals in that game too... unusually it was with his head. It started from the back with a sweeping ball to Steve Heighway who crossed and Terry Mac scored with a bullet header
@@superfirmino5785 I think it came from a Spurs corner .
Some goal that lol
His fa cup goal was better
Funny how everyone remember's Henry doing that from the edge of the box, they should put some respect on Terry Mac's name, did it first, from longer, better.
Oops - Ardiles should have launched it in proper english football style
That's just daft
