Great video! I really appreciate that you showed us the difficulty you were having in getting the fan out. Too many UA-cam mechanics don't show us the part where they get stymied getting parts off. Yet, that's usually the most helpful part. So, great job on this! I'm about ready to tackle this myself.
THANKS, AWESOME VIDEO. What I struggle was putting inside. Taking it out was easy just have to push down on padding on the floor. To put back in had to watch the video again. I noticed putting down the carpet help a lot and angle it 45 degree and rotate the bottom of the motor because the metal bolt holes get stuck while doing that you must push down floor padding.
I had a plastic piece in my blower. Then I clean it and tested it work fine. I decided to stick my hand inside the blower hole and noticed a plastic piece loose, so I pushed it towards my ac vent. Also noticed my blower connector were broken and cable wire exposed. So I tape it. It work better than before.
The 1999 Lincoln navigator is the same as the expedition. I found the only way to get that damn thing out was to pull the carpet back and cut out the black rubber insulated layer and expose the metal underneath it. Even having done that, it was a major pain in the butt to get out. In my particular case a small mouse got up in there and died in it and threw out the balance. As bad as this was it doesn't come close to how bad a Volvo is.
Yes this will work for your 2002 ford expedition. Have you checked the fuses for the fan motor first? Just to make sure it’s not something simple like a blown fuse?
Driving my 97 expedition today and all of a sudden smoke came through the vents and the blower pretty much died. You think it’s the blower motor that went? Or the resistor?
First I would check the fan blower motor plug I have seen so many of these where the plug melts. More than likely its the fan motor though. If the resistor goes bad the fan motor will usually still work but only on the highest setting.
Do yourself a favor and cut the black sound deadener ( I cut a square out directly under the blower motor )the motor has enough clearance then .. pull the r rocker cover off then the r kick panel pull the carpet back .
right from the shop manual. Blower Motor Removal and Installation Remove the LH quarter trim panel access cover. Wait!? Left hand quarter trim? Thanks for confirming my suspicions.
Why did you change the blower motor.?? My 2003 the Ac ll be blowing nice and strong then it stops for few seconds stops completely and then it blows again..
Motor ended up being bad on this one. Have you checked the fan motor plug? It was common on these for the fan motor plug to actually melt and not get a good connection you should be able to just look up under the passenger floor board and see the plug. I would start there because sounds like it may not be getting a good connection. If not then the blower motor resistor might be on its way out.
@@santiagodavila1426 should be up there by the blower motor to the left. A lot of times when this goes bad the blower motor will only work on the highway setting.
What I'm having is when you turn the A/C on thete is a humming noise coming from what sounds like is the firewall, only when the A/C is on and goes away when you yarn it off. And the humming noise goes up and down with the RPM's
Question for anyone, I keep changing the blower fan relay in my 2002 Expy (fan only blowing 1 speed) but every time I put a replacement relay it just burns right out, last one actually started smoking close to the carpet so I disconnected the relay and have not had any a/c. I rarely use the Expy these days, but would like to show it some love. Any idea of what could be causing the relays to burn right out of the box?
@@KiloKevin i apologize, I meant to say the resistor. Every time I have replaced it burns right away. I realized my blower fan was seized so I replaced that as well. Haven’t tested it yet as I am in the middle of doing a cooling system flush (waiting for the motorcraft vc1 to arrive in the mail) and today while doing a heater core flush the hose connector to the heater core broke off (it was really brittle) so now i gotta fix all of that before I turn on the car and test out the fan, fan speeds and if the resistor doesn’t burn right off this time. 👌🏻
Just take off the step guard panel fold carpet and rubber over p.s there is an air filter compartment ford didn't put one in you can do it yourself by cutting with razor

Thanks so much- this was exactly right & worked great for the 1999 Ford Expedition
Mam, I'm watching you and I'm feeling the frustration!! 😂😂😂

I’m sure that dead mouse smelled great coming though your vents 😂
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE That rat had been in there for years before I inherited the car from my mother. It was well and truly mummified, no smell at all.
Thank you
I have a 2002 ford expedition and my fan doesn’t turn on. Will this fan do the job for my truck? Someone is charging 300 bills.

Good video but one year later it's not 20 to 30 bucks on Amazon anymore but 80 bucks
I guess that’s the inflation thanks to good ole Joe
