    Nice set up and yeah washing by hand really cleans the clothes. I had something similar my girlfriend was washing by hand when temperatures started dropping I decided to use our solar for laundry needs and a propane dryer front load washer doesn't use lots of water and we drain it into our little "orchard" XD 4 trees lol we use a RV style 12v pump on a switch so we shut it off when not doing laundry. it has a pressure switch inside so when it's on it does kick itself off at 45 psi I believe

    Probably an idea you already know, but when I was water strapped, I used my rinse water to wash the next load of laundry. It helps cut down on water usage quite a bit. It looks like it would be easy to do with your setup. I also used a breathing washer that kind of looks like a weird plunger.

    I had a top loading washer and filled it by bucket with rainwater. The small load setting didn't use much water. The wash water drained into a large trash can for immediate reuse if I had two loads and it wasn't too dirty. Used a bucket to fill for the rinse cycle. Rinse water drained into another trash can to be used as wash water at a later date. When it was hot outside I had to add a little bleach so that it didn't get stinky because I only did laundry once a week. Dirty water went to the trees. It worked well but a pump for the water would have been better than hauling buckets.I hope your system works well for you. I enjoyed the plastic bag video art and "PSA".

    Be better using a water efficient electric washer and air dry. Use biodegradable soap and make a place to dump the water. For messy clothes just let them soak for 20 minutes the continue the cycle. When you built the house you can move the washer in. Laundry matts have short wash cycles not conducive to clean clothes but making money.

    I think I’d have to find a way to solar power a washing machine, and line dry. If you suspect that your clothes are double the dirty, won’t that mean double the wash to get them clean.
    We do live in the city, but I collect solar panels from old RVs as most around here are being sold cheap (older models) or on their way to junk yards. That also goes for golf cart batteries.
    TFS

    • @ourselfreliantlife
      @ourselfreliantlife  5 років тому

      We have plenty of solar to power a machine. It's the water pressure we don't have. This will do for now, until we have some type of pump set up.

Then onto the linear solar clothes dryer.

      Usually you need water pressure for a machine. We don't have a water pump set up.

    You are going to become a expert in plumbing. At least no digging for you on this project.

      We have been getting a lot of rain. It should be interesting to see what we end up with for the year.

    I've got to ask, is your dialog scripted or are you just a wild and crazy guy? You always have something crazy to say or do. I am always like I should have said or done that, about 10 mnutes after the video is posted. Good video your wife will sure appreciate not having to share the shower with your dirty clothes.

      Good question Eric! I don't think I could script the stuff I say.😆 I just learned to say whatever pops in my head at the moment. I just try to be free and easy on the videos. I just have fun and try not to take things too seriously. So in short, it's just me being me, but a little more free than I would be around people if that makes sense.
