    I had the same experience, when i had a problem with the v2 machine, Franco himself called me back and picked my brain for nearly an hour. Made me a loyal bishop customer for life.

    Glad you did a review on the fantom, I just bought one a couple weeks ago, have not gotten to use it much on any big pieces but have liked it, seems to be slower doing lines than i like but seeing your video makes me think maybe i need to crank up the voltage a little more, I tried running lines at around 9 volts and they seemed to take forever or need 2 passes

    • @anthonyjenkins3335
      @anthonyjenkins3335  6 років тому +1

      James Johnson thanks man! Yea I’d for sure crank it up, I’ve done a couple pieces with it lately with a bunch of linework and I’ve been running 10.2, at that even with a thick white I can get consistent lines pretty effortlessly, so I’d say crank it up a bit!

    Great review! I was wondering if you could review the Marksman Tattoo machine. I read that it’s a gear driven machine as opposed to a cam. Any opinions on this? Thanks man, your stuff is very informative and thorough

    Mad how we all work different hey.. for colour, you like to crank it up.. as where i slow it down.. yet in slowing it down, ironically, it speeds me up.. lil longer in the skin and saturated better.. but for blends I would run a lil faster.
    Great video Anthony.. as always..

    Hi!! I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, I own 2 of the older bishop models v5 and a v6, I also use bishop disposable tubes and cartridges, I recently bought a stainless steel bishop cartridge tube, cause I think the cartridges fit better, my question is! How do artist sanitize their cartridge tubes at conventions, also with the hawk and xion grips,, cold sterilization? If so what do they use? Saniwipes?

    can we change the cam ? or i have to buy 2 machines with different stroke lenght ? my usual preferences vary from project to project. i use all stroke cam depending on a project/ customer etc. Would like to try the 2 offered stroke - is it possible with only one machine ? i think not on their site the fantom doesnt offer seperate cam, but only cam selection on the machine ... ????? this to me is a biggggg downerrrrr

    • @anthonyjenkins3335
      @anthonyjenkins3335  5 років тому

      I’m almost certain the cam can be changed, everything on the fantom is really straightforward I’m just not sure if they’re selling the cams separately, if I remember correctly it was a 3.5 and a 4.2mm you may have to contact them to find out for sure

    Love your videos, very informative and detailed! I’ve heard that the Bishop Wand Shader is, essentially, a Fantom in pen format. I am considering to switch from a Hawk Thunder to a Bishop Wand Shader or a Cheyenne Sol Nova. In terms of lining and black & gray stuff, do you prefer the Sol Nova over the Fantom or the other way around? Do you think they are a step up from a Hawk Thunder? Thank you so much in advance!

    • @anthonyjenkins3335
      @anthonyjenkins3335  3 роки тому +1

      Hey thanks! I prefer the sol Nova (entire sol series) to any other machine right now, I never liked lining with the fantom although it was great for black and grey the lack of speed makes it lose some versatility in my opinion. That goes for all Bishop machines, they lack the speed you get from Cheyenne, Inkjecta or even the new machine from Neuma. That said if you’re running your Cheyenne slow (less than 10v) a wand shader will probably meet your needs but if you’re faster handed or are looking for a machine to do more than one thing well I’d still recommend something from Cheyenne, even a hawkpen is going to be a great choice.
      Hope that helps

  • @jtcart4110

    Great Review! Im looking to pick up another rotary. Between the Phantom, Xion, Inkjecta what would your go to for lining? 5 to 9 rl.

    • @anthonyjenkins3335
      @anthonyjenkins3335  6 років тому +2

      Thanks! All three are good options, the inkjecta is nice and zippy but having to fiddle with all the bars and stuff is a pain, phantom is the most comfortable of the three to me and is certainly fast enough to line beautifully but just based on versatility I’d go with the Xion, I’ve lined from a single all the way up to a loose 18rd shader with it and of course is also does everything else without the need to mess with an auxiliary grip. Xion all day if you’re only buying one of those 3

    • @anthonyjenkins3335
      @anthonyjenkins3335  6 років тому +2

      Jimmy Blanton hey, the Fantom does line really well, most of the line work I do is detail work but just by feel I know for me it’s got the right hit and speed to line perfectly, the biggest round I’ve run with it is a loose 11 and had no issues at all. I don’t change voltage when switching because I’m already running as fast as possible for most machines Fantom is no exception!

    What would you suggest for a pen that could do everything. I only have enough to get one machine like a Xion, Bishop, or Cheyenne. I want a pen style that would be good for color, black and grey and lining so I don’t have to have multiple machines. I really like the Xion however what would you recommend?

    • @anthonyjenkins3335
      @anthonyjenkins3335  6 років тому

      HS Juggernaut all of those will do everything but the one I consistently come back to and am most comfortable with is the Cheyenne, it’s got a better range of speed than the other two, the hit is more suited to all types of tattooing without any adjustments. There is a ton of hype around the xion still, but at the end of the day it certainly has its faults and I wouldn’t personally want to tattoo exclusively with it. As an all around daily workhorse the Cheyenne is the best choice of the three in my opinion.

    Hi there...Would you reckoned this machine for say dot working and stippling lines? I have the Xion myself but not too impressed with it to be honest. For the work i do I am not sure if it would suit it but definitely intrigued!

    • @anthonyjenkins3335
      @anthonyjenkins3335  6 років тому +1

      Darren Luke McDonald I would think just based on speed the Fantom would be a little more efficient for dotwork and you’ll like the weight of it a lot for repetitive stippling

      Thanks man! i am gonna follow you on instagram now (nice work by the way bro) I am Wolfpocky on there if you are wondering , I use mainly Kubin's as my daily machines especially loving the Swingliner although that hits a bit on the heavy side for smaller stipple shades etc if you see my work you will know what i mean. And the Xion I can imagine is a dream for grey shaders I like something with a more whippy hit especially to stipple bigger sized liner like 7-9rl's. Maybe I will sell the Xion and get me a Fantom. Would love to hear more in terms of companions of the two. Best wishes, D

    I found this on the bishop site,
    has anyone tried it? what you think about it?? thanks!…….." If you'd like to run a shorter stroke, such as 2 mm, simply adjust your tube to allow the needles to barely hang out. There's nothing better than running a 3.5 mm stroke machine but bringing down the tube to expose either 1.7 mm or 2.5 mm of the needle. This way you can have that short stroke that you desire but the ink delivery of a 3.5 mm stroke machine. This is the better option."

      Aiden Karel M. If you’re interested in posting a smooth non red Instagram photo that’s the way to do it, if you’re more concerned with giving your client a tattoo that will hold up for more than a year then I would suggest you apply tattoos to the correct depth and into the correct layer of skin. 2mm stroke is pointless

      First.. sorry my google traductor, and thanks for your opinion... If the duration of the tattoo is definitely important for me, I found it interesting to be able to lower the stroke since if according to bishop it can be lowered to 2mm it means that without problems it can be lowered to 3 or 3.2mm if one wishes, but what I did not understand was what following.. "This way you can have that short stroke that you desire but the ink delivery of a 3.5 mm stroke machine" whats mean that??

    Sir, I am from India, I do tattoo mainly by coil machines. I am one of your fan and follower because of your lmportant tips , honest and practical suggestions to the benefit of the tattoo artists. Sometimes I have trouble setting mag needles while making grey-wash tattoos or solid black tribal tattoos, and, sometimes I need to re-adjust the needle during tattooing. Recently I am thinking to switch over to a good rotary cartridge tattoo machine and specially thinking about buying either Cheyenne pen or Bishop Fantom . I do respect your opinion and that's why I would like to know which one I should buy? I am supposed to operate the machine around 5 to 8 hours a day typically by critical power supply. My operating voltage will be around 5.5 to 9 volt max to max. I am interested to purchase for only colour packing and shading. I need my machine to be durable, quite, powerful, zero maintenance and balanced. Sir, I will be thankful if you suggest me an appropriate machine within these two?

      The Golden Altar from what I understand the fantom is more versatile thank any of the wands but that fully depends on you as an artist and the way you tattoo ie. hand speed, preferred style. Bishop isn’t known for producing versatile machines. Franco is a strictly b&g artists and so is everyone doing the testing on the machines so they are well suited for that but not the best choice for other styles

    thanx for this awesome review. can you recomend the bishop fantom for lining (9 needles) and dotwork? in comparsion to spectra halo2 or inkjecta Flite nano elite, which one oft these 3 would you prefer for all kinds oft work(including lines)?

      Helmer Alberti I have used it for lining for sure and it works well but if I had to pick the best all around machine on your list is would be the Inkjecta, it’s much more versatile than the others, I did a review on the nano Titan, might be worth while for you to check out to help decide

    Fantom or Microangelo?

      Trick question, they’re basically the same machine as far as speed and feel, just in a different configuration. Comes down to preference for which one you like more visually and the difference in setting up for cartridges vs conventional needles, the fantom is a cart only machine microangelo will run both
