BIG LOTS CLOSING - Niles, Ohio

- I’m documenting the Niles, Ohio Big Lots before it closes. Supposedly, some of the stores will return after they close. Hopefully, this will be one that stays! Not much from the store is gone.
I noticed your channel is doing pretty good and that's pretty awesome🎉👍
Great video, as always Lyd!
I searched here in UA-cam 'stores closing 2025' and saw several different videos naming Big Lots, all 960 stores, closing this year, so yeah, looks like they're done. 😢
They closed my Big Lots (SoCal) 6 months ago. I don't miss it at all. They stopped selling the smaller, cheaper items a while back, but hey, I can buy all I want of that at Dollar Tree. I almost bought a BBQ at Big Lots, but I found one at Walmart, on clearance, for much less. The trick is, if you ask very nicely, they will give a discount on almost anything. So be nice (and persistent)
Nice evening! Looks like you can find some bargains! One thing about a store closing is that those former employees have to find another job... Thank you Ms Lyd ❤ 👏🌞👸☕💕😍😜🌹🥰💐 looks like that store will still be open for a while, judging by how much mdse is still on shelves...
It sucks! I have 4 throw blankets that I got from Big Lots almost 10 years ago and still use them.
Its always sad to see things go that were around for a lot of years.
That’s crazy!! Epic video bro!! Maybe they’ll turn it into Kmart
There's two Big Lots stores here, both currently closing. One is just a mile down the street, and I go there pretty often. We'll maintained and stocked store, but the crowds just aren't there anymore. Sorry to see it go, and I feel for those employees losing their jobs. What a way to start off the year huh
Lyd, there's an abandoned old mansard roof styled McDonald's building that is across the street from Northfield Park Race Track. This McDonald's is not just any McDonald's it was an Original 1960s Golden Arch McDonald's at one time! You may ask how I know well another UA-cam filmed it but didn't realize this but caught it in his video, the inside portion where the kitchen to the rear of the building inside was once the old building can see the Red/White tiled part. Very historic and interesting as in the 70s they didn't do a complete tear down and often built around the old buildings and made them expanded. If you have Facebook search Original Northfield Villiage McDonald's and a Pic of what it originally looked like will show up. You should film this before it's torn down to document it. You may be able to get inside never know it's been closed awhile from what it says. Was last used as some kind of bakery. Figured you'd find this interesting 🤔
Thank you😊
Brick and mortar stores and fast food joints are closing due to high operating costs…sad
Thanks!
Thank you so much! 😊
As a native Ohioan, I really miss ODDLOTS being the go to Friday night activity for my broke ass.
have fun at big lots
What angers me is what is gonna take Big Lots' place? My area of LI NY has crap shopping, and I had to try to get new curtains rods for a new home yesterday and Target had nothing
affordable, really. I ended up having to drive to Walmart to get anything cheap and reasonable to put up temp. shades or curtains at my new place next month. I'm not sure if Big
Lots even carried shades but still, it sucks that cheaper options are closing. Target wanted $35 a curtain rod (a good one) and $20 for a half curtain! Nahhhhhh I already
bought half the stuff I needed on Amazon so far. I may actually go join CostCo soon, because if all these places go under, where am I gonna get bulk or discount cheap stuff,
for the home but not pay absurd prices like at Kohls which is kind of high?
Big Lots lost their way over the years focusing on furniture at a time when traditional furniture stores were and are failing everywhere. Their prices weren’t all that much better than competitors.
as always in tacoma washington....looking foward to the next......
Were you in Washington when Mount St Helens erupted?
@@j.lietka9406 YES IM IN TACOMA,,, I THOUGHT it was a big cloud, yup it was a big cloud of ash, we had ash on all of our cars and everyone made ash baby dolls....
As far as I know, most of the grocery stuff isn't being discounted till the last minute maybe. I also heard some of the stores will re-open after the closeout of all mechandise so the new owners can w/o all the products as a loss for tax purposes. Some were bought by Ollie's though. I got my new mattress there last fall. I just hope the one in Elyria stays and reopens. we'll see I guess.
I also was pissed off that Bed Bath and Beyond all shut down here on LI two years ago or more. When I last moved in 2020, I found tons of cheap stuff there, besides a new
stick vacuum and other things, I found a fantastic small kitchen table (folding) for maybe $35 max that was on clearance. Was the perfect size for a cramped kitchen.
I loved our big lots in Anderson and it just closed. Sad.
The toy area is hot or miss, but I have found some great Star Wars pieces there figures, and also a Star Wars 1978 reissue board game! For cheap.
AWESOME!!!! Now this is some INTENSE CONTENT
WOW thank you to the King of Store Tours!
@@Lydwetzel You're getting noticed by the "big boys" 🥰👍 Keep up the great work.
Very cool!
Thank you!
The Big Lots near me is closing up too. It seems like every month there is another brick and mortor business that has been around for decades closing up. I never thought i would be so sad over and over with each of these stores closing. It's probably because these stores were a part of my life and i can remember a time when EVERYONE shopped there. Now, it's a ghost town.
Yes very well put!
Big Lots got lost in their business model, tried to go upscale and away from discounted goods like we use to get there. They were trying to compete with the other upper scale stores. Dang it.
@ I agree. Even when the stores are going out of business, they only mark their merchadise down 10-40 %??? I remember a time when things would be marked down 75% minimum when stores were closing. It's crazy what these businesses are doing to themselves.
I hope they don't close the Big Lots near me on LI. I don't go there all the time, but they are worth it for smaller stuff everytime I do go. Good for cheap throw blankets and stuff like that.
Furniture is good too if you have a big truck which I don't. Their home drug bath stuff is pretty cheap, too. I was there a few years ago they even sold a bunch of those multi 80s
arcade mini cabinets with like 50 games built in or whatever it was. Very cool. I didn't buy one but I wanted to.
Big Lots closed in my area as well.
We’ll see how long Ollie’s lasts???!!!
Big lots used to be affordable, they upped the prices and lost customers, although they did bring in higher quality merchandising, some of us just like to shop the cheaper stores
In my head I keep comparing the Warren, Youngstown, Howland, Niles area with the way I remember it growing up decades ago, like back in the 60s. I haven't been back there in a while, but the last time I was in Warren it felt like an empty shell of its former self, the old Republic Steel and even Copperweld long gone, businesses closed, and what remained looked run-down and dated. Sounds like Niles is going the same way now (or maybe has been for a long time). The steel industry was big back in the day, employed a lot of people and brought in a lot of money throughout that whole region. Now the production industries are dead or dying.
🆒 Video Lydia...Big Lots In Peru Illinois Iz ...Also Closin '
Thank you! And that sux
@Lydwetzel Welcome...It Doesn't Sux..2 ..Me ..Cuz.. I Don't..Care..!!!!
i felt like I was shopping with Lydia.
2:25 I miss Kmart too.
The Big Lots in Champion is not totally closing a company called Gordon Brothers bought the Big Lots brand. The stores in Niles, Hermitage, and Youngstown on Kirk Rd. are permanently closing though.
So is austintown, Ohio 😢
Lyd, have you ever been to Roses? Roses is operated by Variety Wholesalers, which has acquired Big Lots. It is my understanding that Variety Wholesalers will keep around 200 Big Lots stores open. Expect to see lower quality merchandise in the Big Lots stores operated by Variety Wholesalers.
Yes I have. Maybe the new Big Lots model will be successful
It makes me sad because I love Big Lots! :(
I bet lyd went right back in and bought that cheeseburger. Lol
Oh btw great vids Lyd!!!
Thay closed the ones here in west Jefferson n c and the one in boone n c two thay are putting a oldeis inthe one in Boone n c i have no idea whates going in the one in west Jefferson n c
Great video Lydia and I'm first. You are awesome
Thank you!
Hey what’s up that stores open hahaha
I still call it That Odd Lots
Niles must becoming a ghost town! We had a big lots close in Warsaw In just a few weeks ago, only lasted for about a year after opening. Replaced by an Ollie’s as yet not open!
Wow that’s a short lived big lots!
You got that right, maybe take the “ES” off the end and rename it, Nil, Ohio, which means, nothing left or, zero, it’s sad.
@@1954shadow 🤣
@@LydwetzelClewistion, FL had a Big Lots that only lasted for a year too
I don't have the leases for sale list handy but seeing the fixture box there early in the video means it's not coming back, sorry.
Yup, it's been added to the for-lease list.
that sucks wonder if champion closing too?
I think they are
I think you and walli b 26 should film together sometime both channels are Similar
Both in or at least around Ohio, too!
The Boardman store in closing also, I was told.
I don’t see a future with Big Lots. The stuff they’re selling is low quality compared to 10 and 15 years ago. It was better back then, compared to now. I prefer going to Ollie’s.
was the former Toys R US store Big lots moved in
If you are looking for a cool vintage abandoned mcdonalds to film you need to check out the one in northfield oh
Heck yeah thanks for the suggestion!
@Lydwetzel it was previously a bakery so it might not show up as a mcdonalds it was called sweetheart usa
Grab me a diet coke please😊❤🎉
BIG LOSS....
