    at 0:55 you said you don't mind the way the car shifts on it's own. I agree BUT .... when I coming to a stop light (or slowing down, I LOVE downshifting with the Auto Stick so I can hear the 'Gurgle sound' coming out of the tail pipes. I just love hearing that, especially when I down shift to 2nd Gear. That's the best sound of all. And the cars along side me love the sound too. I just bought my '99 Prowler a few months ago here in Arizona, and drive almost every day.

    I was told by a designer that the Prowler wasn't intended for the driver, or profits or any of that. (he actually works for GM) He said that the problem with designing automotive vehicles is that when they make the original body design they have tons of people who for various reasons tell them how they have to change and alter their design. Apparently and this is just what I am told so it could be wrong, this car was created as a nod to the companies designers. They let them create a car that instead of people going to them and saying make it work they would go to the guys like those who made the interior and the drive train and say make it work. This Car was from what I understand made for designers to put out a car if only in limited quantity for just a few years to be able to make something that people could buy that was the real-life production of the designer's vision. That would also explain why it could only be made for a few years. He also said the only real comprimise on style ended up having to be the bumpers as it wasn't legal to make a car without them.

    In your video with the ball joint replacement you showed a silver Prowler on the side of the road with a failed ball joint, I'm looking for the bumper delete covers that were on that car, there the nicest I've seen. do you know where to find those? Thanks.

      If you check out my video # 20, at 5:55, I ask Steve Clark about the bumper deletes on his car, which I believe are the same ones you are referring to. They were made by a company called TGF, who also made some of the updates on Steve's other Prowler. They are no longer in production so you'll to find a used example.

    This is one of the most unique cars of our generations. People give that title to the PT Cruiser, but comparatively speaking the latter was very "normal". It was also intended to sell a lot and wear many hats, where as the Prowler was an experiment on wheels that happened to be available to the public for its brief time and got to be as eccentric possible. I've always liked them, and they're one of my favourite cars to see at shows.

      Seriously, when was the last time a production car approached the Prowler's looks? I think you'd have to back to the '30s.

    I can’t count the number of times that people have nearly crashed into me while on the highway staring at my Prowler

    Very well put. I love the looks of the car and consider mine more of a sports car. If i was any taller or bigger i would own something else?

    I bought a '99 Plymouth Prowler 2 months ago here in Phoenix Arizona for $26,000 and it only had 5700 miles on it. Like yourself, I've always wanted one of these cars ever since I saw the concept Prowler at the Minneapolis Auto Show back in 1993. I love this thing!!! And I have a LOT of questions (although your videos have covered a lot of them), can you recommend how to take care of the convertible top? What kind of treatment should i be applying to etc. I've had may Prowler for 2 months now and I drive it "every day" and want to keep my original black convertible top looking great, prevent rotting etc in the Arizona heat. Thanks. :)

      Hi Dennis, in my episode 9, I did a Zoom call with Jeff, a Prowler owner from Arizona who bought his car in 2017. He may be able to help you with your question better than I can, since I haven't had much issue with year-round hot sun in Michigan. Have you joined the POA yet? If so, Jeff's screen name is maddawg06. There are also several other POA members that live in Arizona that likely have suggestions for you. If you have not yet joined the POA, I can post the question for you. Usually will get replies same day or next.

      @@patrickomeara9420 Yes I joined Prowlers Owners Group almost immediately after buying my Prowler. Thanks for passing on Jeff's screen name (maddawg06) for me. I'll be looking him up. I hope you're out enjoying driving your Prowler at this time of year. I lived in Minnesota for 20 years and the weather is about the same as Michigan. I hated driving any of my Toys out and getting Bugs and/or Rain on them. Now that I'm in Arizona I don't have to deal with any of that. (been here 20 year now) And if I see any water on the street here, I steer around it. I'm so glad you started this Prowler Channel :)

    Can you tell me where your wind deflector came from

    • @patrickomeara9420
      @patrickomeara9420  2 роки тому

      It was officially called the WindSuppreSSR (the SSR referring to the Chevy SSR which the maker also offered, but this one was built for the Prowler). I bought it from another Prowler owner who decided not to install it on their car because they needed the driver's seat all the way back, although the deflector took away maybe only another inch. It has been out of production for a few years now so likely the only way to get one is a used example for sale. I admittedly was lucky as the one I got was still new in box. If you are a member of the POA (prowleronline.com) you can submit a request to see if anyone has one for sale.

    I don't mind the V6. I've got an '06 300SRT, so I guess I get my V8itis out of my system with that.
    -Pat, what shape do you think the transmissions would be in today if they had been produced with stick?

    • @patrickomeara9420
      @patrickomeara9420  4 роки тому

      I'm no mechanic so not sure if manual or auto would have been better long term. But I'm glad they picked an engine and transmission that was in a million other cars and has proven reliable long term. Yes, its a transaxle in the Prowler but essentially the same design as many other front drive Chrysler models.

    I always hate that they say it wasn’t a hot rod because it was made in a factory. Well if a hot rodder was in charge at Plymouth at the time and they designed it does that mean it isn’t one? No if It was designed by hot rod fans then it is a hot rod. Muscle cars were modded and un-modded look at Mustangs. They have 6 cylinder pony cars. The Hudson Hornet won several NASCAR races in the early 1950’s. It has an inline 6 cylinder.
