You have the knife blocks in taekwondo but they are not effective at all. It depends on your reflexes instead of the constant turtle shell guard boxers do. I will never understand the TKD doctrine of bouncing up and down with hands down leaving the head open to head hunters. Hope the blue competitor is okay after that kick.
@Codex I’m on the Taekwondo Australian team, but have no experience in a kick like this. It was a miss-kick at first, which made him fall closely into a closed stance, but red kicked blues head (because they scored 3 points if we look at the score), which caused blue to be forced down, and the fight was brutally concluded with a roundhouse to the chin, which blew off the helmet, and would’ve caused a partial knockout
I feel bad for the guy who got the deduction and then knocked out. That slight deduction probably influenced him to drop his guard and not be as aggressive or motivated. And because it seemed that red had an advantage. All because of some momentary pain that seemed to easily be brushed off and be capable of performing a finishing kick. Makes it feel like his victory was not something to cheer over as excessivley as he did. Especially after the opponent was knocked out for so long (obvious a more serious injury).
