- I had given up on playing stealth-style torpedoboats for a while, because the aggressive gunboats were just more successful in many ways. But with the arrival of the Italian ships, especially those carrying large-calibre SAP shells, playing destroyer out in the open has become more challenging.
So, I'm out in the Kagero, trying, and mostly succeeding, not to be seen.
Of course you didn’t have the true nemesis of stealth DDs in this battle, the CV.
Yep, CV battles are different strategically. I'll see if I can get one recorded with a stealthy DD. Other examples that can get sketchy - epicentre against French DDs, radars, ...
But I find overall that stealth works better than it used to for me. Or maybe rather non-stealth doesn't work as well.
excellent example what a stealth destroyer can do .....they can't hit you when they cant see you ...keep up the good work Terry, greetings from Greece
It doesn't always work - carriers, radars, that all can mess you up quite a bit. But I find that it's become more viable to stay hidden, now that the Italians can pretty much one-shot you with SAP.

Almost to Shima lol. YUGUMO just can't win battles with 5 enemy destroyers.
@@ju-yuanchueh8444 what I do is get their attention then bring them closer to a friendly ship preferably a cruiser, then watch them run........ If they can ;P
Shima is pure hell with the ocational good game due to the maltas and mid-ways
@@VC007 it really depends on the CV player. If they prioritize dd's you are in for a bad game if they don't it's playtime ;)
I'm really curious to see how T9 and 10 are playing, especially with CVs around.
Nice video Terry and it is nice to see you are enjoying the ijn torpedo dds. But may I ask do you also get it when the enemy uses sonar you can see the pulses of the sonar even when they are undetected and what are your thoughts on it
It's the same problem as with fires. Your _ship_ might not be detected, but the effects you're causing / suffering are. Which is a bit silly, really - I would even call it a bug. But I generally wouldn't be running sonar if I was on a stealth attack run, that's something for either detecting torps early or dislodging smoked up DDs, both in situations where I'm in combat & spotted anyway.

I will do reviews for the T9 and 10, I'm especially curious how CV battles will work beyond T8.

I'm already complete for next week, didn't have much time due to work. The week after, I'm thinking of doing a "request" week, I've got a huge list of things people were asking.

I actually find it less rare than it used to be, especially when they're engaged. It's about target selection - if they don't know you're there, and are actively engaging another target, your chance of landing hits are much, much better.
Why stealth destroyers?? Better name is rats division with never ending Shima upgrades. 😂
