To answer a common question not addressed in the video: Why the fructose contained in the fruit is not toxic like the fructose contained in U.S. Coke. The answer is that the fruits, in conjunction with the fructose, do also contain a lot of fiber. The fiber accelerate greatly the transit of fructose in the digestive system, denying all the negative consequences (the formation of low molecular weight tryglicerids) of standalone fructose. Thank you once more to Infographic for this excellent video...
Yeah and that is why most fruit drinks aren't actually much better than sodas. They juice a fruit, then remove all the pulp so the only thing left is the sugar water, then think it is better. Water is best

I stopped drinking soda a few months ago after being a pretty regular drinker(although not every day) for a lot of my life. Ever since my skin looks a lot better, my teeth look and feel better, and I just overall feel better. If I need flavor in my drink I’ll just get some flavored water or unsweet tea and it helps. I don’t even like the taste of soda anymore, it just tastes too sweet now
I used to work with someone who was in their 60s and only drank Dr. Pepper at work, in addition to always eating fast food. He was always having issues with his health and I used to try and persuade him to drink more water. He said he hated the taste of water and would only drink soda.
I gave up drinking soda 17 years ago and don’t miss it. The downfall a year after stopping l, I noticed how sweet everything else is. I had to start cutting sweets out. Glad I stopped and won’t look back.
My mom worked with a lady who would only consume Coke. Didn't eat, didn't drink anything else. Eating disorder involved. She was in her upper 40s, but looked like she was in her 90s. Everyone soda is a desert and not a beverage.
Used to do this with Mtn Dew. Now I'm down to 180 from 250 and actually take my body seriously and what I'm consuming. WFPB and healthy drinking has helped immensely.

You should do a video about diet coke! I drink way too much diet coke, I'm cutting back now to only drinking it when I am eating out but it would be cool to see the effects my diet coke habit has had on my body! I know it messed up my teeth a bunch, that and a few other factors let to me needing partial dentures in my 20s. It also definitely raised my blood pressure a bit, but I have POTS and low blood pressure so it actually helped me in that regard.
Okay lets be serious: I drink on average a 0.33 bottle of extra coffeine containing coke and I can confirm some symptoms! The dehydration in the morning is a big issue and pickles are probanly not getting better drinking coke. On the other hand there is a very interesting phenomenon happening: I can drink as much coke as I want and I can sleep well.(5-10 min of getting in sleep state) The most interesting fact is, this phenomenon of losing its effect of shugar push and sleep deprevation depends on the coke brand, so some some cokes are not having a big effect, others have!
One man here in the Philippines was interviewed because he only drinks sodas for 15 years.. no water just sodas.. He mentioned that he didn’t feel any ailment. However, when he tried to stop drinking sodas since his kids were concerned of him.. he went into withdrawal.. soooo it was a good reason for him not to stop consuming sodas….
I actually forced myself to stop drinking any sodas and it worked very well! The only liquid that I put in my body is Milk, and Water. And some Fruit Juice.
I have a mother who's drank only RC Cola since graduating highschool. She did end up obese, has diabetes, has fatigue for the half of the day she's awake, eats primarily fried fatty foods, and is on dialysis. I thank my father and my active lifestyle for keeping me active and fit growing up.
I switched from soda to sparkling water a long time ago because I mostly drank soda due to liking the carbonation. However I will have the occasional can of soda, at most once a week.
I once had to babysit on the neighbours kids and had nothing to drink for them except water, milk and tea. After playing with them in the garden they wanted to drink something so I offered them some water and one of them was 5 and told me he thinks water tastes bad and never drinks it, his little sister of 3 also didn’t want water or anything else. So I asked them what they normally drink and they told me they basically only drink soda, I was shocked man. Only drinks with sugar in it at that age is definitely not good for them and knowing I can do nothing about it kinda makes me sad. They’re lovely kids but already overweight and it’s a pain to see their eating patterns.

I replaced coke with squash and sparkling water. It’s the fizzy part I crave. But I still have coke now and then as a treat 😋 and I never have diet drinks, they’re bad in a different way.
Mentioning squash, you made me comment... I was looking for that word :D I never drank awful lots (like 1.5 - 2 + litres a day) of coke or similar beverages in the first place, but I still drink like ~half a litre a day which mostly is squash and sparkling water, but sometimes also stuff like Cola + Orange (+ Lemon) mixes (PepsiCo's Schwip Schwap which I think is a German thing only or Spezi, don't like Mezzo Mix), but I rarely increase the amount of that when I have to quench my thirst on a hot day or after some activity and if I do, not by much. I usually just drink a lot of tap water in that case and just get a small amount of something with a sweet taste afterwards. The good thing about squash is that you can just take less of it so it's not absurdly sweet where you can feel something like a carpet on your teeth after drinking a glass of it (Coke is pretty good at that). I can't even drink Fanta and Sprite anymore, they're just utter sugar bombs. If you really want to have the light way with some taste, just put a bit of lemon juice (or concentrate of that) into sparling water. I do make my sparkling water with a Sodastream and tap water (which is actually top notch where I live), so I don't even have to carry that stuff home and it's always fresh. I also don't like the diet drinks, can't stand the taste of Aspartame, acesulfame-K and natrium cyclamate, it's horribly bitter and that's the typical mix of artificial sweeteners here. I tried drinks with stevia instead, but the EU didn't allow the refined variant that you would get in the US or South American countries where it originates from which doesn't taste bitter, but only unrefined Stevia which does have a bitter taste to it. Was hoping for it becoming a real alternative, but well, it didn't end up being that.
I've been drinking Coke Zero for 15+ years, no issues, however back when I used to drink regular soda, oh man, it was awful, now I can't stand drinking sugary drinks or I get nausea and headaches.
I was that guy for over a decade. Even with regular dental checkups and brushing, I still did major damage to my teeth. At first I couldn’t even tell, because above the gum line, my teeth looked fine. Below, on the other hand... Had to eventually get 2 implants, 2 root canals + crowns, and a bunch of fillings. I’ve always been very active, and other than the Coke, had a pretty healthy diet too. So luckily the damage was more or less limited to my teeth. Nowadays I can’t even stand drinking carbonated beverages. Aside from beer😂
Coming from a person who basically grew up with a sippy cup full of juice to put me to sleep every night and grew up 98% drinking either sodas or sweet tea, don’t do this. As an argentine we have coke with every meal, yet we outlive and are healthier than most americans. Could it be a recipe or a combination of other products? We also have a lot of meat and vegetables but never really have health issues related to coke, its like water to most of us.
My dad Just tuned 80 yesterday and has been drinking Pepsi only for well over 40 years little to zero water on any given day and so far it has given him a fatty liver, arthritis in his hands and very limited mobility. He is also skin and bones and refuses to stop drinking soda. I love him but the stubbornness is very frustrating. If this has taught me anything is to drink plenty of water or else.
I’m 20, and have probably consumed 6-10 glasses of soda a day for the past 5 years, however I am actually underweight, do not have diabetes, my blood work is perfectly good, but the problems I do attribute to soda consumption would be having literally no enamel left on my teeth, and acne.
I drink waaaay to much sugar (not daily for cans, but definitely for sugar). I also drink a TON of water, and brush my teeth minimum 2 or more times per day... Hopefully even out?
Hmm … In my OPINION (you don’t have to do what I say), I suggest you minimize the amount of sugars you are taking because like you said, you are saying that you drink “waaaay” too much. Also, that MIGHT eventually cause tooth decay and so on even though you’re drinking tons of water.
I do drink coke around 1.5 liters per day, until today, I'm going out to buy more now. The coke for night and not being able to sleep until 6:00 AM is pretty accurate.

This video is on point. I user to drink 9 coke cans a day. In the process I got 6 cavities within just a few years. Not long after a tooth rotted. It's not worth it.
I'm gonna have to call BS on this... I drink about 6+ cans a day and have for nearly 30 years. I will only drink water if there is nothing else available wherever I am. I probably don't even drink a glass of water a week. I've only had one cavity that came before I started drinking coke when I was a kid. None of the other effects have occurred; not even a little bit. I'm 5'7", 155 lbs, and have perfect cholesterol and blood glucose levels... I love the Infographics Show, but this episode is misleading.
literally NONE of this is true, LOL. i literally drink coke every day, and except for the OCCASIONAL cup of coffee, its ALL i drink. i drink about 2L a day, if not more. i only eat one meal a day, dinner, and if i can manage to eat about half as much as a normal person, im FULL. its called brush your teeth, take a bath, and get up and go outside every once in a while, eat healthy, and EVERY one of these wont happen. also coke and salad are a GREAT combo. the sweetness and acidity, pair well with a nice spicy arugula salad.
I had a friend somenyears ago; I knew him for about 6 years or so, but for as long as I knew him, I never seen him drink anything other than Pepsi. We would stop at a gas station and he would buy 2L every time, most of the time he would buy two of them. His recycle bin was full of Pepsi cans. This guy would also continuously chain smoke. I haven't talked to the guy in about 7 years now, but I was always astonished how he never had any health issues other than cavities and he was in his mid to late 40s.

It absolutely is hard to quit you get so used to something your body goes through withdrawals drinking sugar free drinks is actually worse because it contains aspartame which causes cancer best thing to do is enjoy a drink in moderation once in awhile it's a treat problem is it's so readily available and cheap that you just go crazy with it like everybody else does I do my kids do. And a lot of times the problem is once you quit it's already too late all the damages done my dad's got brain damage diabetes holes in his legs and that's from drinking too much alcohol but all the alcohol turns into sugars that's why alcohol causes diabetes but once again too much of anything is bad even too many vegetables is bad for you it's all about moderation
Who keeps drinking sugar sodas when there is so sweetened options? Not that they are perfect, sweeteners also have their risks if they are abused, but way way lower than anything portrayed here with sugary pops

Have unbearably painful arthritis, I only have a few minor cavities, tho that easily taken care of if you brush

Honestly I think I’m recognizing warning signs of certain things now…😰I’ve been trying so hard to drink more water but like most bad habits it unfortunately becomes an addiction…
When I was 19 I drank 24 cans of Coca cola in a row.
@@HOLLASOUNDS wow that’s insane! I only drink one bottle a day but I’m trying to cut back

I had a dad who drank coke consistantly, and he developed issues such as gout. Though he later died of heart issues (maybe exacerbated by his habit), my mom, who was a nurse, taught him to love water and prolonged his life for a bit.
I needed to hear this truth! I totally became addicted to Coke..lol that sounds bad but you know what I mean, and I have seen all these bad things start to come true! Time for some much needed lifestyle changes! Thank you for sharing.

I work with a guy who drinks at least two 2 litre bottles of Irn Bru (Scottish fizzy drink) every day. I've no idea how anyone can drink so much of something like that.
im scottish we have an unmatched sweet tooth, thats why we've all got bad teeth.
Which is ironic because the best dentristry in europe is in Glasgow.
@@samx4830 "We've", you're probably right about most of us though haha, some of the things you see walking about Glasgow... Oof. My teeth are pretty good because I take good care of them, but I also rarely drink fizzy drinks.
because it tastes good.
I don’t even like the taste of soda anymore, it just tastes too sweet now
Watching while drinking a can of coke.. 🤣
Also, sodas dehydrate you, which makes you not have a bowel movement, and the excess gas, puffs your stomach out like a balloon, causing fat bellies
What bothers me the most is how this stuff can still be legal (like many extremely harmful products) because of GIANT POWERFUL companies that get away with mass harmful stuff, yet some other silly stuff can be illegal and put you in jail
Infographics Animation Department 🏬 are top notch as usual. I totally expected a slightly different story!
I’ve been drinking 3/4 cans for almost 17 years and my teeth are fine my weight is fine so idk 🤷🏻♂️
I have pots also.
Okay lets be serious:
I drink on average a 0.33 bottle of extra coffeine containing coke and I can confirm some symptoms!
The dehydration in the morning is a big issue and pickles are probanly not getting better drinking coke.
On the other hand there is a very interesting phenomenon happening:
I can drink as much coke as I want and I can sleep well.(5-10 min of getting in sleep state)
The most interesting fact is, this phenomenon of losing its effect of shugar push and sleep deprevation depends on the coke brand, so some some cokes are not having a big effect, others have!

I know of a guy that has been drinking Coke (at least 2L a day) for decades! It's like water for him!
Yup I’m the same.
I switched from soda to sparkling water a long time ago because I mostly drank soda due to liking the carbonation. However I will have the occasional can of soda, at most once a week.
Last year I probably drank like 1/8th of a gallon of soda so that makes me feel pretty good looking at the averages 😂

I went through a Coca-Cola addiction for awhile. I quit cold turkey and lost about 25 pounds in about 6 weeks. I still have a Coca-Cola about twice a month.
Any tips on quitting like alternatives and cravings? I tend to get headaches without it (I assume the caffeine) tried quitting many times longest I went was a month. Haven’t found an alternative that’s satisfying and healthy. At one point I thought I could drink vitamin water instead but it got old quickly
@@sigmodus Cold turkey, and started working out more, I did get headaches too, for about a month or so.
@@sigmodus in my case i would always drink a cup of coke every day, in order to stop this addiction i replaced coke with an orange juice. I havemt drank any coke in 4 months
I replaced coke with squash and sparkling water. It’s the fizzy part I crave. But I still have coke now and then as a treat 😋 and I never have diet drinks, they’re bad in a different way.
Mentioning squash, you made me comment... I was looking for that word :D
I never drank awful lots (like 1.5 - 2 + litres a day) of coke or similar beverages in the first place, but I still drink like ~half a litre a day which mostly is squash and sparkling water, but sometimes also stuff like Cola + Orange (+ Lemon) mixes (PepsiCo's Schwip Schwap which I think is a German thing only or Spezi, don't like Mezzo Mix), but I rarely increase the amount of that when I have to quench my thirst on a hot day or after some activity and if I do, not by much.
Odd, for me I had sparkling water/coke a few times and every time I hated it for that very specific fizzy part, for me it just tastes nastier
05:30 Beware the low hanging belly! 😂😂 🥤
Okay but what if I only did Coke everyday?
I've been drinking Coke Zero for 15+ years, no issues, however back when I used to drink regular soda, oh man, it was awful, now I can't stand drinking sugary drinks or I get nausea and headaches.
Can you do a video on if tap water is safe to drink?
It’s not.
@@codygames5415 lol thanks, I think having a video from infographics on it would be cool and practical

It isn’t worth half of the things on the list, and I’m only 23. I unfortunately have a lot to look forward to for my future (medically speaking) 🙃
Note: Despite the certainty in which it was stated, there is no clear consensus that telomeres are the cause of aging.
