REST IN PEACE, POWER AND LOVE!
Here is just a tiny glimpse into UNCLE D's final 5 years. All clips were filmed in the last 5 years. You can see he was living life to the fullest till the very end!
This man was/is an INCREDIBLE Father, Brother, Uncle, Husband & Friend. Always inspiring people around him and BLOWING MINDS in the water or on land. The first ever Hawaiian World Champion. A scientist of FUN! 100% one of the Kings of Pipeline and was blown out of the barrel more than most will know. We will forever carry on your energy and passion for life and surfing.

ALOHA UNCLE DEREK HO - Спорт
Cool clips, I lived a few houses away from Derek in nalo when we were little, he use to come over and play with me and my brother and two older sisters, he was only a year older than me so we went to kailua intermediate and kailua high together. He always was so cool and that smile never left his face.
We shared some sic sessions together at Rabbits, V- land, Sandy's,pipelittles,Bowls, and other spots, no matter where, D- man always was DA man to watch.
His backside grab rail was so awesome to see, he would angle his front foot on its side letting him contort into the sickest A'ama crab grab in V- Land pits that blew everyone's minds!💥 He helped me to learn it and every time I make it out of a backside barrel I yell " thank you D!😆
Love you and miss you brother, R.I.P my friend, I'll see you again when the Lord calls on me.🍻🕊
Awesome words. I bet he’s glad to know that.
R.I.P legend. I still can’t believe what has happened and I’m really sorry for your loss. Stay safe and strong 💪
RIP uncle, you tamed mother nature, brought smiles to those who loved you, and showed the aloha spirit everyday. Keep shredding forever and always 🤙
Sending love! Rip in paradise, uncle!
Growing up in Hawaii in the 90's surfing it was always Derek Ho who inspired me to charge pipe... We are all going to miss your style and grace Uncle. RIP
I was about 16 years old and all my friends was from Papakolea, and one of those friends was Pocho Ahina..
Pocho did pretty good with pro surfing and I was invited to a Gotcha Pro Party in town... So I show up to his hotel room and when I get inside Derek and Michael are sitting in the living room talking story checking out a bunch of new boards and I got to hang out with The Ho brothers that night & I had one of the greatest nights of my Grom years growing up. I'll never forget it🤙

His smile says everything, pure Aloha. R.I.P. DHo
Yes it does!
Rest in peace, my deepest condolences to his family and friends.
he is a legend. His mark will forever be left in all surfing communities
I'll never forget being a grom watching him win the triple crown in '86. He touched more lives than he would ever know! A king!
RIP uncle Derek. I watch this video every couple months just to pay respects and remember how raw uncle Derek surfed. He lived such a beautiful life though wow! May you rest in peace uncle Derek!
This bradda has a unique style of surfing! Badass! From when we was hana butta days! Bradda, you went pave da way for so many younger generation surfers! Love & Aloha Always my bradda!
That first barrel/balancing act at pipe says it all; Derek was a legend. What a great family. RIP Derek.
Yeah, anyone else would’ve got swatted. Shows what kind of relationship he had with Pipeline. All love.
Difficult to not shed a tear watching this, what a legend of style and grace in the water, a true hero. Rest in peace and condolences to the Ho family and friends.
Crazy watching him in these Pipeline vids. He doesn't fight the wave just hits his bottom turn and eases into a barrel like he's walking into a 7-11. So smooth
Don’t forget his lip drops. No one does that today.
I never met Derek Ho, but he and his surfing was always very important to me. I'm goofy footed and I really took notice of his style. God bless him and God bless your whole family. I'm sorry for your loss.
I named my son after him 1994, my favorite surfer he just looked so natural and free how I wanted my son to live.
the first time I met Derek Ho. 87 or 88 summer during the O.P. Pro I was working behind the counter at Chuck Dent's. He comes walking in and ask me where Fig is, it took me what seem like forever to answer him. I was star struck, he was my surfing hero. R.I.P. (rip in paradise) Derek
@All Time Productions Mike Ho? Noah Budroe?
I live around the corner from what used to be chuck dent. Now it’s something called the “blow bar” where girls get their hair blow dried. Silly times
@@KC-dw9ky haven't been downtown in awhile, are the men's services in the back of this bar?
Ha. Place is def a washing machine for drug money. They have been open a year and there’s never anyone in there. Rent has to be at least 15k right there.
My son's name is Derek... as in Ho. I decided that in the 80's. He is 23 now.
My prayers go for da ohana. God bless.
I grew up in the 80s n 90s, dis Hawaiian is a Legend....🤙🏾Rip Braddah...🤙🏾🙏
As a goofy grom, Derek Ho was one of my heroes, and my bedroom walls were plastered with posters of him at pipe...
A part of my youth died with him for sure... So sad...
Loads of love for his family & friends.
I was on the Kailua high surf team with him. We where all out at rocky point, I think it was one of our first contests. I remember taking off on a wave and seeing Derek coming down the line. If I remember right I dropped in on him totally by accident. I paddled back out and got destroyed by a breaking wave and broke my leash and my board went into the rocks. Until we meet again much respect and sadness.
Derrick Ho,the Ho family, class act begining to end.Mahalo!
How many people get to share a barrel with their uncle? Such an epic family
Hard to believe that such a fit and agile cat is no longer here. Looks like he should have lived forever. As for Mason and Coco, having dad and uncle to teach them probably didn't hurt!

Love the tribute guys! He was such an amazing man! Gone way too soon! Sometimes God just needs the good ones sooner than we’d like! RIP Uncle D. Ps… I saw a picture the other day of him, probably late 20’s and wow how him and Mason looked identical!
🏄♂️ 🌊 🤙
Damn truly one of the greatest surfers ever and inspired me to surf as a kid. RIP to one of the Greatest
I had a heat with Derek, Michael and Brock little in 1989 at the Gotcha pro chun's Reef. Needless to say I was very intimidated as a 18 year old Florida boy. Derek must have saw that in me because he was very cool and encouraged me during the heat. I was blown away by how cool he was to me and I will never forget it. RIP Derek and Brock!!!!
growing up landlocked, GOTCHA was the clothing at the mall, was into it, tho I never was driven to surf myself. Happy boogie boarding. Yeah Derek rules, finally seeing all this footage of him. He & Island Classics have been burned in my brain since 89.
The take off on the red board, it shows he is the dude!!!!
WOW WOW WOW - what an absolute priveladge and honor watching this about him.. well done for putting this beautiful piece together - what an incredible way to honor this man and show his legacy!!! He chardeg hard and led the way for many!! RESPECT!!!
Got something in my eye at 3:14 .. RIP to a LEGEND. Staying up late at night watching H30 on some random cable sports channel in the 90s as a kid I got to see so much of him. Never been to the islands but the Ho family has been a big part of my surfing life.
Derek Ho is the true essence of Soul Surfing, A Soul Surfer in every way, shape and form. Something that gravitates naturally to those who are in touch spiritually with everyone and everything around them..this world could not offer you anymore than it could give to someone so deserving, so see you in paradise where the waves go forever just like the memories you have left with us from around the world 🌎 H♾ !
Best surf video I’ve seen in a long , long time! Thank You Derek Ho! Aloha My Braddah!!!👑
Rest in Peace Uncle D. He will forever leave a print on the community. Such pure stoke and energy right until the end, man will continue to inspire for time to come. All the love to the Ho family and friends
Thank you guys. Grew up watching your Uncle and Pop surf in Surfer, Surfing, videos, and contests on tv. This video gave me a more personal look. I'm grateful.
I was lucky enough to know and surf with him when we were kids- still can't believe he's gone-such a force of nature and super talented person.Miss u D-man and I'm sure your making heaven a better place.👑🎇🎆
I landed on you guys from Ben Gravy, good souls draw good people, I’m from Oklahoma and don’t see very many waves but I do ride bulls...and I don’t have the balls to ride a wave like you boys. Cheers and aloha. Much respect to Derek, rest easy good sir.
Dis guy... i cant hang w him at pipe, but everytime Im surfing and he paddles out is like the ocean answers, the waves go exactly where he sits and vice versa. Few people are like that. Rest in peace uncle D.... Aloha.
Mean video
love & prayers from the japan:::::R.I.P
He was and will always be the essence of the aloha spirit , being few years younger has made me realize to live and little better and love little harder Rest In Peace legend 😎🌞
My godson in Brasil Derek Fernandez is named after him. He is on his mid 20's now. We grew up watching him in Pipeline through surfing magazines. A true legend. Unique style. God bless him and his family. Amen.
Every and each one of my friends grew up idolizing this guys since the early 1980's brah. Hard to pass up that ledgend. Who would want to even try anyway. Go uncle all the way
yesterday morning at around 7:30 am my dad was surfing and his board hit his head killing him. he was an amazing man and surfer. every morning wed surf and watch your videos all day. i just wanted to say thank you to the ho family for making these amazing videos it really made my dad happy
We are sooo sorry to hear that about your amazing pops! I’m sure him and uncle derek are surfing a special secret spot right now. Sending you positive vibes from Hawaii.
Ho & Pringle Productions may they both rest in peace❤️🌊🙏🕊
I can’t even believe he’s gone. I loved watching him charge pipe! So OG but like his brother still so so good!!
some sweet 12 minutes
thank u for posting this video. Derek on an Island Classics board has been my idea of surfing since I saw his perfect 10 pipeline.
So it’s been a thing in mind since 89. Never thought to surf, I boogie board. An ic board was placed in my path, needs tlc. I’m going to see if I can ride it. Venice CA is a place to learn.
Seeing Derek take off on top is inspiring.
Legend. His brother Michael used to date my Mom's best friend. Kathy Knight. She always said how great the Ho family was.
Legends are LEGENDS. I never met him personally but just by the look in the pics and videos of him, I can tell he is one of those legends and who stand humble, truthful and honest. Enjoy surfing for an eternity!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Backside leg drags...legendary.
Always thought the shots in the mag from Pipe and Ala Moana were the sickest ever.
I been following the Ho family for 50 years I am now 71 RIP Derek
I was driving out to a secret spot...seen Uncle Derek was behind me on the way... Bird chirped 3 times thought to myself today is going to be a good day! The way he had bowls dialed was as amazing as his Pipe riding he inspired me and countless others! He was one of the most humble low key guys in and out the water you will ever meet. He let his surfing speak for itself. While we will all die. Very few of us will actually get to live. Derek Ho lived!💚💛❤️
One of my favorite surfers of all time. R.I.P. Bradda
Looking at that timeless vision of the last 5 years, really shows how really great he still was. Gone way too soon, but probably had one of the best lives that we all could aspire to. Surrounded by Family, Friends, Surfing, Incredible waves and to be blessed to wake up each morning with the sun shining on your face in Hawaii, he truely was a very fortunate man and will be missed by all that knew him personally, and for the rest of us who only knew him through the camera or video lens. RIP🙏🌴🏄
I'm a year older than this legend , i haven't surfed in 10 years but still love it . Respect to you and yours x
Sending love to all the Ho Family, Even here in the UK there were posters of Derek Ho charging pipe in so many Surf shops & on kids walls.
Awesome tribute to an awesome human being.
RIP Derek Ho 🌺
Uncle Derek was a beautiful soul and an absolute charger, truely the best of both worlds and he will forever be remember as such. Much love to our Hawaiian brothers and sisters from Australia ❤️🤙
There's actually 30 total assholes alive that gave this clip a thumbs down?! Do they even surf?
Derek Ho you legend and all the rest of the family are legendary too. These videos always put a smile on my face, so thank you. Aloha x
I am about the same age as Derek and I met him at a contest. He was great and I still perplexed at his speed and flow for a video on Wave Watch, our connection here in OC in the age before anything internet. I also think he was the pioneer of the direct drop in at pipe without a stall, which everyone does today. Credit where credit is due. RIP legendary man.
RIP Uncle Derek, you're a legend and i wish i got to see you surf one more time at Pipe
Rest in peace to the Legend Mr. Ho prayer go out to the entire Ho family thank you for all the memories surf stories that I had the pleasure of reading and all the video clips I have seen of the Sensei of of the North Shore.

Rip..., the Ho's have a unique style, love that
Wow..Just pure Legend..all around.. He did it all. Mahalo Derek Ho..
Never forget paddling out big Lani’s and going for the inside sets and only one other guy doing this Derek, and he remembered my name which was super cool for me, and was like hey what’s up. He wasn’t super vocal in lineup. We both got a couple and were sitting waiting and a massive cleanup set came and we both got caught inside and just before going under i looked over at him and said “we’re getting too old for this shit”. See him laughing as he’s going under a ten footer. Favorite Derek Memory. RIP to one of the great people ever from the north shore.
Dang we lost one the best of the best! You will be missed and never forgotten you legend! Rest In Peace buddy! North Shore legend!
Mahalo for showing .... a legend.....master waves & aloha spirit
