The fact that Filoni and Favreau have Mark Hamill in these shows tells a lot about never forgetting where it all started. Respect…….
I was about to write its really cool that they did that. Because its something I would have done as a star wars fan, seeing Luke return was one of the greatest moments in modern star wars. But actually having Mark Hamill around for the fun, this is why i trust Filoni and Favreau.
They put up with the corporate bull just so they can have fun making these stories.

@Joël For real. You could tell he was really disappointed with his character in Last Jedi, and now to see him smiling and happily talking about the parallels to him being trained by Yoda just... it really just makes me happy.

@@Wills-Corner Well, according to the interview he had with Entertainment Tonight, he didn't "change his mind." He showed regret over publically voicing his complaints since it was unprofessional, not because he liked the direction they took his character in. Mark respects the arts and regretted stirring up feelings about the movie.

That line alone, from Filoni, is what does it for me. Even though it wasn't Mark on our screens, in the final product, the character, the performance, the background for Luke 'was' all Mark on set. They had him there, reciting, performing, and constantly chiming in with Graham, with the crew, and the team, to coach and cultivate the Luke we eventually saw. The key was having him there, I couldn't put it better myself.
Yeah, I didn’t know that they brought Mark on location. Obviously he was the vocal performer, but I guess the physical performance has to match the vocal one.
It's just that extra layer, that speaks to the level of care, and responsibility, they feel toward these characters and creations. And to the people who played them. Feels like such a change, from the direction of the last movies.
They did an incredible job. It's as if they just plucked old school Luke out of the OT.

Mark was so excited to do it he shaved his beard and styled his hair like a younger Luke. I'm so happy he got the opportunity to do this. You can tell he really loves the care and respect Jon, Graham and Dave are giving his character.
... I'm pretty sure that's necessary for the special effects experts to do their jobs easier and cheaper

What they use is photo of the other actor and then use deepfake tech on it.
I hope they can let Mark reprise the role in a What If type show to let him bring Grand Master Luke to life at least once. They can keep the sequel trilogy but let Mark have a proper farewell to the character that launched his career and inspired millions
While part of still doesn't know how to feel about the going back to the jedi code thing with the you can't see your friends thing in training as a jedi but it's only a minor thing and I'd much prefer this than what we got in Last JeDIE and Rise of SKinwalker. I do respect him for giving Grogu the training he received and that he at least gave Grogu a choice. Just seeing Mark feel like Luke again is the biggest treat.

Really can't imagine why, it's not like it'd have taken creativity to make something new or something based off the EU rather than just copy paste the Jedi code as is.

I think it was because they knew what was done to Luke in those SW movies we dislike, was so unfair, we need to correct it. We need to do Lukes character justice!

@@NormalExploiter it is amazing how people wich actually participated in the process of making starwars through the years don't have this level of selfimportance. Only fans seem to believe that someone owes them something. It is alright to debate about this like if it was a religion for a while, but if you can't understand that they're just movies, then you have some mental problem. It is not some kind of structure wich is sacred and MUST be respected so that it is perfectly coherent. It just WON't happen. This movies are incredibly expensive to make, so you need people to put their money in them, and since they put the money they will expect to have some level of decision on the matter. Only George Lucas could do whatever he wanted to do, because Starwars was his baby, and he had the money to do it, but then Starwars fans turned against him, because they (forty something years old people) think they knew better.

I couldn't really tell back in the Mandalorian lol. The only potential giveaway I saw was that Luke looked way too much like a young Mark Hamill. Even then I was wondering if they simply found an actor who looked like him and put some makeup on him.
@@djmarsone5209 I think I must have an oversensitive eye for "The uncanny valley", both Luke's seemed unnatural to me. I haven't seen any CGI human that doesn't set it off. I couldn't watch "Puss in Boots" because the humans were creeping me out so much.

Seeing actual footage of Mark Hamill on set in costume talking to grogu is awesome they didn't have to do this they could've done it without Mark but the fact they actually brought him in to do the scenes shows how much they care

I’ll always argue in defense of Luke in TLJ. If you’ve seen the original trilogy, Luke in TLJ is the perfect evolution of where he would go next. By the way, there’s been no official statement from Mark saying he hated how they used him in that movie or anything, it’d just be assuming at that point.

You can see the excitement in his eyes, maybe not everyone will love his scenes in this series, but there's something undeniable: they've made the character justice and there's hope still for the fans
I can not imagine how happy and reliefed Mark must have been about being part of the Show and having people around him, working with him, who truly respect and love Luke Skywalker as a character after the mistreat he endured during the last Trilogy.
They made him once again selfless and heroic sacrificing all to save his sister, and the Resistance by performing the ultimate most powerful and difficult jedi power and jedi mind trick on Kylo on Crait. No jedi had been so powerful as to project himself to save them, buying them time escape. Without the legend of the great Luke getting back with the force and doing this , his sister and C3P0 and the Resistance surely would have died. He also learned one last lesson from Yoda about we are what we leave behind. Luke not only was the ultimate hero, he found true peace within and like Qui Gon, Obi wan, and Yoda, and Anakin among others ....Luke looking out over the dual suns , Luke too became one with the Force. How is that story disrespecting Luke??? We end learning that children celebrate and play amongst themselves entralled of the legend of Luke Skywalker!!!
I have never been one to get emotional when celebrities pass, even when we have lost some of the true greats like Carrie Fisher, but the day we lose Mark Hamill I'll have to take a day off work to cry in peace. He's such a treasure, on screen and behind the scenes.
The actor definitely has Mark Hamill’s cool and calm demeanor like we see in ROTJ. Just a more mature version.

So happy to see that this was very much a collaborative thing with Mark and the crew and not just ''Mark, do this" like it was on the sequel trilogy. You can see Mark offering insights and ideas and they are very much open to it. On the set of the 'other' movies, when Mark offered a suggestion or an idea, he was basically told ''shut up and just do it" which is one of many reasons why they sucked.
I think that the mandelorian and the book of boba fett is the true direction i want star wars to follow, the cinematography and music i love it!!!

I would take this any day over Sebastian Stan. Makes my heart soar like an eagle to see Mark and Graham bringing this character together.
Unfortunately, the day when Mark passes, is when you roll out Sebastian Stan. But don't ever take this away from Mark. He has been waiting 40+ years for this.

It’s just so wholesome and incredibly satisfying seeing him doing so well. And I also love the fact they shot him in every single scene and he is even wearing the iconic black return of the Jedi outfit and he slides right back into it. He must have never thought this day would come bless him!

@@OtinadProductions I actually really like that idea! Having a show to properly develop Luke's path to becoming the cynical hermit we see in Last Jedi. I don't like that version in general, but I feel like it's possible to make it feel natural if we explored the events that led to that point.

the sad part is that no one lasts forever and we wont always have Mark Hamill but I'm so happy to see the interaction and teaching of how to be Luke to Graham so Luke Skywalker can continue past Mark.

It makes my heart so happy seeing Mark being involved in Star Wars in an environment where his input is valued. In Last Jedi he said every time he'd make a suggestion Rian would pat him on the head and send him on his way and even in the 15 min making-of documentary you can tell he was just miserable..and sad. Seeing him with the script making suggestions with a bright smile on his face while everyone around him is like "yeah great let's do that" just makes me beyond happy this is what Mark deserves.

I saw "Star Wars" when I was 14 way back in 1977. I saw it 14 times. I no idea how emotional I'd get seeing Luke/Mark Hamill young again. I just cried at the sheer nostalgia I felt and even more tears at seeing R2D2 again.
Mrk Hamill has byfar the most soothing voice and at the same time the scariest voice in all film history for playing two iconic characters; Luke SKywalker and the Joker.
This made me emotional ♡. It is so beautiful that they are working with Mark. Hope we see him in Mandalorian season 3 too :)

Judging from the final scene of the series, I think Grogu is an adrenaline junky and loves the drama of travelling with Din. Meditating in a beautiful peaceful bamboo forest isn’t for everyone.

Mark deserved this redemption for his character... They did him and all of the older cast and really the entire fandom really dirty with the sequel trilogy.

Not something that's likely to happen whilst KK is in control, but Mark's affinity with the roots of the franchise, and obvious love for the characters, would give him every chance of delivering something special.

Mark Hamill deserves all the accolades and praise for this new series. He really is Luke and no one can take his place. Thank you so much, Mark, for being involved in this event with Boba Fett and the Mandalorian. I hope to see much more of you in the future. You bring new life to an old soul who had become disillusioned with Star Wars after the Disney trilogy. I was beginning to sell off my collection and move away, but you have restored my faith in the saga for ever.
I am so proud that in 1984 I ran the Mark Hamill Society UK. I could see your potential and you have fully lived up to it and exceeded my greatest hopes.

I binged watched Bobo Fett on Disney+ and was just as excited about it as Mandalorian. But there’s only ONE SEASON? I’m crushed! Bring it back!!!
I've watched the video, read through some comments and I still have tears in my eyes. I'm so happy for Mark. He really deserves to be there and you can see how excited and devoted he is. And the fact that at the age of 70 he can still sit in lotus pose! He is a legend!
I love that they involved Mark in this show - They didn't really need him - but they DID need him.

I am so glad for Mark that he could have had this experience playing or at least taking part in creating the Luke Skywalker he always wanted him to be. And no, i did not hate the last Jedi. But we so much needed some mighty Luke between Episode VI and TLJ. And so did Mark.
Mark cares so much for this. I noticed he sometimes says "I" when talking about Luke. "Grogu does this, and I notice it and turn around..."
