I’m crying. This video uploaded midst a mental breakdown. I remember listening to this song for the first time as a junior in college, dancing in my room, feeling great with my mental health, I was losing weight and gaining strength, growing & learning so much as a human - physically, mentally, spiritually.

I was a spring 2020 graduate, and I’ve been in a hard place the past year financially without finding stable work, sinking into an unhealthy body, an unhealthy mind, and the stress is sometimes unbearable.

This song fills me with different emotions as now a 22 year old dealing with all these adult stresses.
It feels as if my younger self is calling out to my current self.

The original gives you a certain sense of sadness, still in shock that the person who was your eternal everything is no longer with you. They’re off living life without you and you’re hoping they remember the good times y’all had, to possibly rekindle and try again.
The acoustic version gives a different tone. One of acceptance and appreciation. Accepting of the harsh reality that I would never see you again. But with the same speed, appreciating every memory we ever created. Happy that I was apart of your journey through life.

I'm 50+ and the vocals.and instrumental are soft and sweet, but there's something hidden in the song that's been evoking very strong feelings, and catalyzing some deep meditation. This morning I realized that what's striking me so deeply is that it's as if the song is being sung by my life's nostalgia itself,...to me. All of the beautiful , heartfelt moments, caught up in a swirl of emotion, combined with the whisper of GOD, "remember ME".
So for as grueling as life can sometimes be , FATHER I thank you for all of the quiet, sweet, funny, enjoyable, and tender moments, and I do remember YOU.

Then I listened to all of UMI’s music like “happy again” and felt like I was finally gonna be happy again!! So glad I didn’t go back to that toxic relationship. This is my song. I remember the first time I click this song. The begging sound like the song we could have been by H.E.R feat Bryson Tiller. I was like okay this must be good. When I heard those lyrics I was like same I could relate to all those lyrics. This song came out in 2018 and in that year my whole life changed in the summer. I was like UMI come through with the lyrics. Since that day I just became a huge fan of her, she has voice of an angle. Love that she is doing Acoustic versions of her songs. I remember the first time I came across this song was when I was so happy and in love. and I thought that if we'd breakup this would be my breakup song with him. 2 years later and we're not together and the lyrics have resonated more now that we aren't together. and every time I listen to this song my heart aches and my stomach drops at the thought that I wonder if he will remember me after we graduate and never see each other ever again.I think that's what hurts the most. thank you umi for putting my emotions into music and words I could not put myself.
