- After signing Carson Mumford to their amateur squad, the Factory Connection Racing gang has been busy recently, retooling the Honda CRF150R to swap it from a mild-mannered carbureted model to a fuel-injected fire-breather. We got to check in with them as they took it to the dirt for the first time, and see a bit of what it took to make the conversion.
this bike is sick. I have Cooper webbs old 150r, that was the first ever factory team 150, it's def one of the fastest 150s out there. Seeing all that they have done to carsons is nuts...with the fuel injection and new technology its gonna be a beasttt.

MoToXLiFe DeLuXe fuel injection is more efficient and has more hp gains then a carbureted bike

Just got this bike buts its bogging out choke isn't on..
Have fun getting that carb out to clean it...you have to pull all the plastics off as well as the rear subframe.

tbh would the magazine co ever say it's just alright??? my understanding is that efi makes the most difference on bottom end responsiveness, so naturally gonna be huge diff on a 450, less on 250, and..... well this is a 150. i bet it helps, some.
question! is that some kind of scavenging system that's sticking out of the exhaust by the engine?
FMFjake 89 O2 sensor....
its actually done often on factory bikes. they have sensors all over the bike. if your trying to tune the bike, its a big benefit to know your AFR's when making adjustments.

Ron Steurer not necessarily, most bikes are throttle body injection or transfer port. I'm unsure if any are actually direct injection.

Why can't honda have fuel injection as standard for the upcoming models. my friend has lost positions in his races because his bike got flooded.
but every other bike can get flooded too so its just fair, it would suck when the rich kids would get best fuel injected bikes with and the ones with not that much money had no change of winning

Mark W I'm a carb guy but consider the fact that efi makes this sport easier for beginners which encourages the sports growth or at least slows it's down fall

Yeah I agree it would be nice but it’s already the heaviest bike in the class and most kids in 85 can’t handle that weight so e start isnt practical for that

tourqy and powerful in the first 1-3 gears 4-5 is just for high speed
Oh yes and you don't get as many flat spots where the throttle doesn't pick up
