    Nikon users are blessed with some great choices at the 24MP resolut. The Zf has superb sensor performance and a very capable AF if one isn’t a high action shooter of sports or birds while saving a few bucks over the Z6 III.

      Yes, but the Zf is really for those who are into the retro experience. You have more buttons and customization with a Z6 III.

    I bought mine from you, and have used it a lot. Really good upgrade over the Z6i for me. Was tempted to go for the Z8, but my priority was to have a lighter camera (plus I already have a D850).
    Focusing is really good, not perfect, but night and day over Z6i. Handling is good, but better with the grip. Want that much of a fan of the flippy screen, but it is handy for versatility. Got it paired up with the 24-120mm, great combination.

    Took mine out twice and finally sold it. LOVED the viewfinder but I did not see a scenario where it was going in the bag over the Zf or Z8. Exceptional camera. The manual focus refinements from the Zf are also in the Z6III and hope make it to the Z8/Z9 via firmware...GAS got the best of me on that one.

      Interesting! I would have guessed that the af joystick would have given it priority over the ZF, I guess not.

      My thing with the Z6iii is with the U1,U2 and U3 not being able to map into a single button. As a bird photographer, there is a very important feature to be able to switch from one setting to another setting completely like a recall shooting function from the Z8 or Z9. Not sure they will ever give you that feature.

    Very interesting, thank you. As a Z6 and Z6ii user I jumped to the Z8's and am blown away by them. If I didn't need the extra autofocus capability of the Z8 and a few other things the Z6iii looks to be a superb camera
    Great to see you again Becky !

    Sold my Z6ii 2 weeks before the z6iii announcement , collected it in July and immediately lent it to my grandson for his GCSE project. Got it back now, glad the buttons now match my z9. For me it makes a great backup and travel camera. A few minor gripes, the strap hanger getting caught in the card door, occasionally focusing on backgrounds but my z9 does that also. Ergonomically the Nikon lineup has always been great and they haven’t disappointed this time. Got a week in Yorkshire next month, I’ll give it a good test then. Thanks for the review.😊😊😊

    Thank you for the video, I had two numbers of z6II, one I sold it as soon as z8 was announced and second body I kept it for hold till z6III was announced but you guys have helped me decide between zf or z6III, I am a still shooter so, may be go for the zf now.

    Had a huge debate with myself about going to this or a Zf from my Z6II - the Zf won as it fits with what I do and the whole retro thing is just brilliant, but of course we’re all different. I occasionally missed a higher resolution with my Z6II for landscape but am going to now fill that gap with a decent used Z7II. Nikon is doing impressive stuff at the moment IMO.

    Thankvyou for the well made and useful video. It looks like the Z50 ii features 3D tracking in video mode. Will that be added to the Z6iii now ? How about focus stacking on the Z50 ii ?

    Z6 III is for customers moving upwards or for customers who didn't like the size of a Z8 but want a sports camera that is capable to do great action shots. Also the price difference is massive: Z8 costs 3796 $ and Z6 III is at 2496 $. The Zf is a totally different camera because you give up a lot of customization.

    Canon and Sony fanboys are trying hard to bash Nikon on the internet. Now that autofocus is not an issue anymore they focus on small differences in dynamic range at the Z6 III to create insecurity at potential new Nikon customers. It's really obvious that they try to make Nikon look bad. Tony Northrup and Jared Polin are good examples of Anti-Nikon bias.

    • @18yearsoldnot
      @18yearsoldnot Місяць тому

      To be fair, according to the photons to photos website, the DR performance at low iso is the same as aps-c sensors, so landscape photographers should be careful. In my use case I wanted to upgrade from my z5 and have the same comfortable ergonomics and lightweight camera with the evf of the z6iii, but unfortunately that camera doesn’t exist. The z6iii is very much 70% a video camera

    • @alexcortez8909
      @alexcortez8909 18 днів тому

      People like Northrup and Polin are super predictable. Everytime a new camera comes out they’re like “Here’s the new *insert camera model*. Am I switching?”. Real photographers don’t switch camera systems that often. Only take camera opinions from actual working photographers whose work you admire.

    Great Review! I think my Z6 is just as good for portraits and events. Yes, the AF speed increase would be nice, but I have never missed a shot with my Z6 since the firmware updates. I don't need high frame rates for portraits and events either. The cost of selling my Z6 and buying a Z6III would be a lot of money without an improvement in sharpness, color, or image size. Am I missing something here?

  • @timgimbert3073
    @timgimbert3073 Місяць тому +1

    I am a glasses wearer and on the Z6 and Z6ii the viewfinder would be cropped for me if and my composition was different to what I saw. The Z8, Zf, and now the Z6iii let you have a smaller image in the viewfinder which solves that problem.

  • @peterzpictstube
    @peterzpictstube Місяць тому +1

    I pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago after fighting the AF on Z6 at wedding doing backup shots for my friends. I was quibbling about the reduced DR but it's just not a big problem I can say after putting it through the paces. But here is the bottom line I no longer see any need for the speed and immediacy of my D7500. The Z6 III turns on almost instantly and focus with authority. I was shooting the milky way and could see it in the viewfinder for framing in starlight mode. It's really a breakthrough for me. The only thing I miss the ability to pick a focus point in Auto Are when it won't read your mind when using viewfinder. I have mapped 3D AF to the joystick button as a work abound but it seems like a step backwards in a useful functionality. This should be fixed in firmware.

      Yeah, I saw that and at first I thought it was a drone. Then I rewound 10 secs or so and saw that it was a bird flying in (although it appears out of nowhere one frame to the next at @12:08).... but then it must have run into a thick cloud and gotten stuck :). Likely a bird of prey that is very good at using a strong head wind to hover. Years ago we used to have a red tail hawk that was hanging around the property where I work. One morning there was a strong wind going directly into the building. As I was walking into the office I noticed the hawk just hovering about 2ft above the edge of the building and using only the feathers at its wingtips for attitude control and no other motion. It looked like it was having fun.

    Good review - again another con of Z6 MK 2+, Z7 MK 2+ and Z8 was Nikon not doing a battery grip that could use higher capacity Nikon EN-EL18* batteries (used by D4-D6 and z9) - allowing users to interchange these batteries between D4-D6, Z9 and Z6-Z8 cameras. Odd and restrictive decision on this , the Old Nikon D800-D810 grip MB-D12 and D850 grip MB-D18 ( up to 5K of still on one charge) , I use the excellent MB-D12 on my old D800 along with using same batteries EN-E18's on my Z9

    I have a z6 II and a z8. I would love to sell my z6 II and upgrade to the III. Mainly because I can get more for my II right now than I will later as it gets older. The z8 will do anything my z6 II won't do but at a higher mp and file size. The z8 is more comfortable to hold but is slightly heavier. But that weight helps balance longer heavier lenses. I would also like to have the zf for street photography but I have a couple of film cameras I can use for that if I'm just wanting the retro feel. And I'm buying two more film cameras soon.

      in Germany it's already down to ~2600€, now it has enough separation in my opinion. Also the Z6III has advantages over the Z8 eg. the smaller and lighter body, 6K, the viewfinder etc.

    • @jorgepinogarciadelasbayonas
      @jorgepinogarciadelasbayonas Місяць тому +3

      Most people who talk about it don't understand: At ISO 800 and upwards the Z6 III perfoms the same like the other 24 MP cameras. Below you need to push shadows more than 5 stops which is not a very realistic scenario.

    • @dominiclester3232
      @dominiclester3232 Місяць тому +5

      Also it’s only down a little below iso 800 and I read that with the electronic shutter it’s not down at all compared to the ZF etc. There are still a couple of UA-cam Nikon haters out there, like Tony Northrop, who has a grudge purely because someone forgot to invite him to some camera launch, lol.
