- Since she was 15, Coco Gauff has been in the national spotlight, and looked upon as the next face of women’s tennis; and with the recent news of Serena Williams' retirement, that spotlight has only intensified. So, how does someone so young handle the pressure so well, you might ask? It wasn’t until she suffered a bad loss in 2019, where she gained a new perspective. One that taught her how to enjoy the little things again.

She sude shows her emotions alot when she getting her tail waxed and not able to win. I never see Iga do that or see the williams sisters do that in their prime and when Coco is down she is really down in her matches. With Other tennis player greats Like Iga, Serena, Roger Fed, Rafa Nadal, Novak Djoker you never see frustrated looks or crying emotions on their face when down or getting beat at the moment of the match plus she needs to work on her forehand and double faults and focus on task at hand
And what are her terms?
In about 2 years she is going to be telling us all how her father put her under way too much pressure to play tennis and to be the best without any regard for her emotional and mental well being.

She is a tactically intelligent player. She needs to address her forehand woes before it's too late. Her volleys need work (the whole tour does), and she has tremendous concentration. Her mental toughness is some of the sharpest out there. She will win slams, how many?

Her progress seems on track for CoCo to be as good as anyone from the prev. generation of American players: Maddy Keys, Sloane, D.Collins, CoCo Vandeweigh & now Pegula. I think she probably is better than fellow American Kenin, who made 2 Slam finals & is a champ. Gauff seems a good bet to win 1 someday. She still has to tighten up her game first. I don’t think she’s going to get much better, so she will have to make her weapons work for her

She seems like a really cool person ! She plays hard, has fun, doesn't seem big headed, and speaks well during media interviews ! I like her way better, than Naomi Osaka. I don't think Coco will ever claim mental health issues. Seems like God and her parents, have her mentally strong and grounded.🎾👍
Coco is very good right now but in order for her to get to the next level and win slams she will have to change the grip on her racket and get more pop on her ground strokes, IMO. If she wants to beat the bigger and stronger players (Sabalenka, Garcia etc) in top 10, she’ll have to put some more pop on ground strokes..especially the four hand.

Maybe you should suggest this to other athletes such as Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, Serena Williams, etc... Coco graduated from high school this year. She can go to college later if she wants to. Venus Williams graduated from college just a few years ago. Coco has a lot of talent for tennis and she should use it while she can. Maybe tell LeBron, who is now an accomplished athlete and a billionaire, that he should have gone to college first 🙂

@@Menga213 I am in no way supporting ignorance. As a holder of two masters degrees and a teacher, I know the value of education. However, what I meant is that she should seize her chance to do something she is good at while she has the chance and while she is still physically fit. She can go to college later or take classes online if she wants. Venus did it and graduated with a college degree in her 30s, because she had an objective she wanted to attain. I don't think it's bad for her to earn millions while doing something she likes. The alternative would be to go to college right away, cumulates student debts, and maybe get an average job, like I am doing with my degrees. Playing tennis does not prevent someone from getting an education. On the other hand, she might miss a lot of opportunities by not playing now.
