      You can use the standard 3500 intake for that. Or do a 3900 swap

    I wanna do the something similar to my camaro, however all this swaping parts between the different motors is getting confusing. I wanna change the heads, the intakes, and I assume I'd have to change the throttle body as well. Can you tell me what parts I'd need in specific to do so. I'm trying to build my first car. Also what pistons would I need to swap into the motor to make sure the compression ratio isn't too high.

    hi i was trying to find mods for my 94 3.4 v6 camaro and i found your video i think it sounds great and i want to do what you did if you'd tell me all the things you did on you car with the manifold like what about the wires on the original manifold and the egr valve just everything if you dont mind. thanks your camaro sounds great i really like it. thanks again

      Well lets start with the donor car....you'll need a 3100 gm or 3400 gm engine year 99" and up. I used a 00" Buick 3100 but the heads that flow best are Pontiac Grand Am GT heads if possible. Youll need the heads, valve covers, upper and lower intakes, and head gaskets for 3.4l camaro then a gadket set for which motor you use as a donor.

    • @slomaro9430
      @slomaro9430 8 років тому

      +Spencer Chamberlain ok thanks. theres a LKQ here in GA i can find the parts also i know on my camaro the throttle body is on the driver side so would i need to get the throttle body off the doner car? thanks again

    • @Spenceboy94
      @Spenceboy94  8 років тому +1

      from the donor car you'll also need the throttle body and the braket for the throttle body cable as well as the throttle cable may need to be used. Also pick the fuel rail but you can use the camaro injectors though i do recommend up grading to a higher flow. i used 21lbs/hr.
      So I deleted the egr from the exhaust and the intake. i bought pacesetter Headers which go straight to a super 40 flowmaster muffler to a side exit. i used a cheap ebay intake. fuel lines will connect right to the new fuel rail. the brackets for the pulleys and powersteering will blot on to the block and new heads with atleast two bolts. now push rods were difficult to find to connect the flat tappet lifters to the donor rockers. dont quote me but i beleive i used 94 cavalier push rods. camaros were too short and buicks were too long or visa versa.
      lastly the vaccum lines for pcv, map, heater core valve, fuel rail, and purge can be tricky and i dont remember exactly how i plumbed mine but i did steal all the vacuum lines and plastic lines plus the pcv from the donor to help me do so
      sorry for the novels but i hope this helps. if there's any other questions u have just let me know

    Hey so I have a 3.4 and I've done ALLOT OF RESEARCH and I've heard of this what is all required the heads. upper intake. what about lower intake? Does that need to be done and the computer no codes?

    • @Spenceboy94
      @Spenceboy94  6 років тому

      Scott Murray it will require you to use 3400 or 3100 series heads the lower intake manifold and the upper intake manifold. It's essentially a top end swap from a fwd 3x00 car. Computer will run it fine. Only code that I had was the EGR code but that only set when it warmed up and it went away as soon as I turn the car off. However I'm sure it is possible to set up the EGR from the 3.4 to be run on that intake I just decided not to do it.

  • @Robindehood
    @Robindehood 5 років тому

    Hey man, which plugs did you end up running? I know you switched to the 3100 heads and intakes, what about pistons? I have a 3.4/3400 build that's running really rich and rough right now to the point where it's flooding the engine after only 30-40 seconds. Plugs end up with a bit of soot and are wet so it's clear that it's flooding. Did you increase your injector size as well? I'd love to pick your brain a bit!

    • @Spenceboy94
      @Spenceboy94  5 років тому

      I ran (I believe if memory serves) NGK TR6 or TR65. Which is a colder plug than the stock 3100's and as for the rich issue, I experienced the opposite. I ended up upgrading injectors. And the pistons I used were stock 3.4l Camaro pistons.

    • @Robindehood
      @Robindehood 5 років тому

      @@Spenceboy94 I did upgrade from the stock injectors to the 28# injectors and I know that's why it's running rich and flooding. Did you have to tune yours after you finished the hybrid build?

    • @Spenceboy94
      @Spenceboy94  5 років тому

      28 lbs./hr injectors are a bit over kill for that. I only went up to 21 or 24 lbs./hr because I had no way of tuning. If you plan on caming it and get stiffer valve springs you may be able to use that 28lbs./hr

    • @Robindehood
      @Robindehood 5 років тому

      @@Spenceboy94 so I went with a custom cam from Wot-tech (street/strip cam) which forced me to update the springs as well. The 28lbs were recommended to me by quite a few people, but they all used them with the intent to turbo down the road. We're just at the tuning part which seems to be the most difficult now

    • @Spenceboy94
      @Spenceboy94  5 років тому

      Ok yes that makes sense. But as for tuning unless your using an aftermarket computer I dont think you can tune in my experience. And I believe the computer is too old for open source tuning.

  • @kenfenton8637
    @kenfenton8637 7 років тому

    Hey man sweet swap did you have to change the pistons too? p.s how did you tune it after?

    • @Spenceboy94
      @Spenceboy94  7 років тому +1

      Ken Fenton
      I did not swap the pistons. The crank, pistons, rods, and block, and cam were all original (seals, rings, bearing, and babbits all replaced obviously). As for tuning i have it running on the stock ecu. If access to a tune shop or software is readily available to you then i do believe some hp can be made just by letting the computer know theres more air and (with upgraded injectors) more fuel. but in my case it just wasnt optimal or worth the time or money. I had a detonation issue immediately after the build which a tune could have fixed but colder plugs and premium gas was a perfect fix.

    how was this setup I'm doing the head gaskets on my Camaro and was considering the same thing you've done, was there a noticeable difference in gains or what

    • @Spenceboy94
      @Spenceboy94  7 років тому +2

      Matthew Colston the gains are noticable once your done. i went from 160 hp at the crank to 162hp on the ground and i used 3100 buick heads. If you use 00"+ Pontiac grand Am Gt heads the gains could possibly be larger. This swap does take alot of time and figuring but i loved the results for the money and the uniqueness it gave my car.

    I've got a 94 firebird 3.4 and just picked up a donor 2002 3400 to do the swap. Which lifters, rocker arms, and push rods did you use?

    • @Spenceboy94
      @Spenceboy94  7 років тому +1

      clutchmaster2012 depends on the cam you use. Assuming you stick with the 3.4l cam you'll need the flat tappet lifters (camaro/firebird oem), i believe i used 94 cavalier v6 push rods(they were the proper length) and i just used the oem rockers on the aluminum heads.
      I dont remember completly but i believe you need two different length push rods between exhaust and intake. keep your old 3.4l and 3400 rods just in case. But i did use 94 cavalier rods just cant remember how many and where

    • @Spenceboy94
      @Spenceboy94  7 років тому

      1flynlow your absolutely right. At first i had detonation issues once the engine was under load at operating temp. However I was able to find a cooler plug and run 91 which under normal driving conditions remedied the problem. An aftermarket tune however would be a better fix.

      have to swap the heads as Well. 3.4l camaro had cast heads that fit only the camaro intake manifold. I did this head swap because all in all. the 3.4l intake system was heavy and restrictive. 3x00 series heads and intakes flow much better and are much lighter.
