Poor Vanessa. To be a sole survivor of a horrific crime which left her in a broken state, physicallly, emotionally, and mentally. That would be an enormous thing for anyone to cope with. She was just a young child. I'm sure the taunting of her school mates was like having people stick their fingers in her fresh wounds.

Exactly, the feds have convicted folks who had stage 4 cancer, in wheelchairs, MS and more for those level of crimes citing 'we have medical facilities that can take care of them while they do their time.' Part of me thinks someone called a favor in with the judge.
It took them way to long to track him down for sure. Unfortunately, if we start prosecuting people who are mentally incompetent and unable to defend themselves, it won't stop with the guilty. A short history lesson in US law will show you that and it will anger you more, from cops framing disabled people to DAs seeking any conviction at all costs and so on. It's not a perfect system by a longshot, but giving DAs the right to put people with dementia on trial would hurt a lot more than it would help. Sometimes there is no right answer, only the lesser of two evils. In those cases, we have to trust in something bigger than ourselves and our flawed legal system to make the guilty pay. Mabel deserves justice, and I firmly believe she will ultimately have it.
I live in Des Moines Iowa. Thanks for letting us know about Algene Vossen. I read he's currently in a Des Moines hospital and they've put off his commitment hearing to November 18. No nursing homes will take him due to his aggressive behavior and criminal record.

Yea, sadly the costs come from crowdfunding one DNASolves website and DNADoe project. There is a genealogist named Carla that has donated probably a hundred grand if I had to guess, to pay for the costs.
My smallish suburb has a 24 MILLION police budget, I'm sure it's the same in other places where the funds can/should be allocated towards DNA testing vs the wasteful things cop departments buy.

Well, to be fair, everyone has to make a living and DNA testing is very expensive. I just wish there was a simple way to collect money from citizens who wish to donate, but that would also be very complex and expensive to organize and run. Again, more money. 😢

It's absolutely absurd how backlogged DNA testing is most places, if not everywhere, due to lack of money. How many cases could be resolved if DNA testing were cheaper and more readily available? Unfortunately it's not going to get less expensive...but we can hope and dream 😏😏😏

That "blanket" is designed to be held closed with velcro & is put on inmates that destroy everything around them. Usually their held in an observation area during that time to prevent anymore damage or even self-harm. I imagine it's the same way in the nut-house. Thanks!!!!

Not to excuse the guys crime but my mom worked as a corrections officer . She spoke often about how the guys would get a hold of synthetic marijuana in jail and lose their minds. One time a guy literally leapt off a bench didn't try to break his fall or anything and bust his face wide open. She said its what they put in that junk that makes them crazy. Now my mom retired 5yrs ago after serving nearly 30yrs on the job so this was a while ago, so I don't know if they've improved the ingredients or if its still bad but I know synthetic marijuana could cause adverse effects at one time.
It also depends on the politicians you vote for. The DA, the Mayor all of them fip into that police budget. Those are the people you elect. You get what you vote for.
The guy that was in the hospital why should he get out to live with family this is what makes me so mad he wasn't insane have health problems when he killed her just because he can't remember now is not right he killed her he should stay in prison till he die. Let me tell you I worked in the medical department the inmate got better medical and dental we had 12 cells they were taking care better than our old people I could tell you it got to the point I hated my job the inmates had more right than I did .

That POS in the first case didn’t hallucinate that Zoe was a demon. He’s a demon so why would he kill her for being one? Nope. He killed her for not having sex with him. This is what men do.
That first story: While this girl may have been as sweet as pie, she wasn't all that innocent if she accepted an invitation into this person's home at that time in the morning to smoke some weed or whatever. There is always danger of something going wrong in that type of situation and she should have known it.
