While I generally agree with you about animal books, The Call of the Wild is probably one of the least overlooked books of all time, particularly in America. Not sure if there's a single public or private school that doesn't require it.
I've worked for years in Skagway conducting tours along the White Pass into the Yukon and elsewhere in Alaska. Jack's stories continue to bring insights into how life is not just endured but treasured....more than the gold.
Dudes, Dennis? All you guys at Prager? Do this. Book club. Classic books assessed by the people in your sphere, critically, lovingly, intelligently. Just like... Do a ruddy hundred of those. I love this. Edit: Oh my God! There's 42 episodes! YES!
A favorite book, along with William Golding‘s “Lord of the Flies.” COTW is human nature personified. A must read for anyone entering corporate America.
In a world that's obsessed with the importance of education, dogs are a reminder that you don't need to understand anything about ballistics to be able to catch a ball.

I read this book long ago and enjoyed the story. My question in this: Did Jack London himself say his purpose in writing this book was to show this deep meaning, or is the meaning explained here the result of the imagination of the reader?

Who is micheal malice? I’ve never heard of him except recently on Jordan Peterson with face paint on? Then this popped up and I looked him up and he’s who? A podcaster or something? Is this the same guy?

This is so cool. Animal books/movies are usually so overlooked.
Thank you!
I recommend Smoky, by Will James, and The Yearling, by Marjorie Kinnon Rawlings.

Excellent program. I love it because re-reading classics from school is a thought I had as well👍🏽
Me too! I always had to read Steinbeck being from CA but now that as an adult I live on the central coast I appreciate it
Here in Michigan, with the temps right now at 1F, we are reading "To Build A Fire".
Top notch short story! Stunning.

The dog fight scenes were so well whiten.
This reminds me of one of his other books, white fang.
White fang is basically call of the wild in reverse.
The dogs being a reflection of their owners is akin to the canine handler saying, “It goes down the leash.”

My favorite book.
16:18 Is he referring to the Baldwin effect? (JBP vs Richard Dawkins)
I also loved Grizzly Adams❤
Why are we never discussing how beautiful Knowles' hands are?
This was my favorite book when i was in middle school, i re read it many times. "Buck did not read the newspapers."
Curious as to why Malice is wearing gloves. 🧤
The book takes place in the Yukon Territory of Canada. It’s the same reason he’s wearing those boots. He’s playing along.
Wasn't it club and fang?
What's with his hands?
Great
