Very informative, the only way it could be better would be a complete install of the system from start to finish. The kit I have came without instructions and I can't find anything on UA-cam either.
Many thanks for an informative video which has given me the confidence to try this on my OG FG Monster Beetle. Cable brakes have been a nightmare to set and to maintain, fingers crossed the hydros go on easy! Greetings from Scotland.
Awesome system. Very informative video too Elite, very well done as always. I’ve been thinking about ordering these and setting them up on the Primal with a stand alone servo for burn outs.
Very cool set up! I still have to set up my Baja front disc brakes one of these days but I’m not using the hydraulic set up I’m going to run cable. Awesome 👏 Shop brother even with the E-word in it lmao 😂!!
Front brakes on these bitches is a must and everyone with baja's should have them whether hydraulic or cable. My eword cars are collecting dust and rotting away so what better than to let the kids handle they business until they are ready for some nitro!
Thanks man been looking at getting one of these cars and was looking into upgrades and replacements just plain diggin hydraulics on an RC I could care less if its half the price of the car its cool as hell!!! Love your set up and appreciate your content keep it up please. Thanks!
Yeah I felt a need to show this because the bleeding of the brakes can make or break the performance of the system if done incorrectly, thanks for the comment!
Is it possible to fit these to the rear rather than the front? Like if I want to powerslide/drift, I feel like having them on the front would make that very hard so I was thinking of putting them on the rear but unsure if they’ll actually fit
I have the 1 inch extension on mine and like it can I still get them without sacrifice the 1 inch I have or are they basically the 1 inch extension already with the kit thanks 😊
Yes I know but it's the master resevoir that throws me off. It unscrews from the top but the lid is dome shaped. So if I fill it to the top and put the lid on there is a gap so that means that there will be air in the system...
@@cc6722 its always going to be some air in the system no matter what because of the nature of it you are just trying to have as little air in the line as possible and they will work fine!
Bro, just fitted these tonight, and they are scraping. I have not fitted the lines yet, but wonder if when I put dot 3 or 4 brake fluid in, and bleed them, will they open up, or do I need to file them down a bit. Wicked vids as always my Amarican baja 5b guru, and know this is an old video. Peace out from London England Bro!
Nice to see that ur getting ur boy into the RC hobby with ya. Ive been trying to get my kids into anything RC and they just don’t wanna play along. It’s all Fort night, PlayStation, and IPad all the time for them,SMH. Great video tho Elite, just like hydro brakes on a bike or car, very cool.
Yeah kids these days are electronic junkies all they do is go from one device to another we will see In time how long he can last once I fully get him in on the action!
Also have been looking at that system, but it would seem to me that your bleeder screws should b on the top of the caliper, not on the bottom, because air naturally goes up.now that I think about it,every motorcycle, quad, snowmobile, car and truck I have bleed the brakes on,the bleeder is always on the top.i will have to install the system on my baja and check it out.does look way more effective than the cable system I currently have.
On this set up you are not going to get all of the air out but most of it, if the bleeder screws are at the top its going to be very messy when bleeding the brakes I have tried both ways and this one works for me.
Thanks whenever I work on my cars if I feel like it's worth recording I just hit the power on the camera and start recording as long as it helps someone my job is done. Thanks for the comment!
@@5thScale reason why I ask is I saw a video with a gentleman who said that Mineral Oil Brake Fluid For Bicycle Brake Hydraulic Systems was better than high pressure fluid you use in a car and that moisture will mix with dot fluid but with mineral oil like Shimano will not mix with moisture or water! Just thought I would ask,, I just purchased the Fid Racing Brake system, bout to set it up shortly, you have a lovely build!
How can you tell if it’s the right direction or not. I can reverse the. Servo on my control but then it makes my break lights backwards. Normally it moves CCW for Gas and CW for break. On the original. Other than just buying the working one like I did. 😢
Elite, great video. Just a heads up, if you have any issus with not getting all the air out of the system you could swap the calipers so that the bleeders are in the most upright position. Are you pretty happy with this set up?
I have both brakes one hydro and one cable each on a different Baja and it’s easier it replace the cables and parts on the cable because you can go to any bike shop and get the parts. Replacing the parts for the hydro brakes is harder because I have to order them online and wait for them to come in, which means it’s out of service till the parts come in.
this specific kit likes the feed line in the top position, i have it myself and works better on that position. i notice the lines dont bend too much on top, and seems to be more protected.
I run mine like that so my fluid lines are more towards the top of the caliper and not at the bottom of the caliper because the lower the lines the easier it is to damage the line so that lessons the repairs and they work just fine and when I bleed my lines to get rid of the air all of the fluid runs out of the bottom instead of the top and flowing everywhere, thanks for the comment!
@@5thScale do you have it adjusted so that all 3 brakes engage when applied or is the rear just there for emergency? I just installed these same brakes but im finding my stock servo isnt gonna cut it.
I would think the calipers need to be reversed?? The bleeders can’t be on the bottom? The air would be trapped at the top of the caliper? Just like a car? If the bleeder is at the bottom you cannot bleed the air out of the system??
ok i just followed your instructions on the gtb brakes and no matter what the brakes are locked at all times. even if i disengage the brakes they are still locked... what am i doing wrong
Those parts are very very trick but I have to think the first time you jump and nose down and hit the front part of the arm that oil line is going to split? And then u won’t have breaks either side... why not put the line somewhere else (maybe no where else to put it?) or maybe they can make a steel wired line like normal motocross cables.. either way would be better then the tube like material they use that runs across the front of the arms which I’ve seen get normal running damage.
If I did not have them installed right now I would weigh them for you but the car is ready to go right now in the future when I take them off I will let you know the information that you seek!
IMPORTANT; Dont use automotive brake fluid if you can avoid it. Sure, it works however it also highly corrosive to these sensitive brakes. They will break down seals, orings and all the rubber/plastic pieces that are used in the system over time. They sell hydraulic fluid made by the RC conpany FG. Use this stuff instead. Not to sound like some kinda smart ass but can’t you just place the bleeders facing upwards? Like on a regular hydraulic brake system. It would be easier for the calipers to fill up with mostly fluid and allows the air to escape without the mess.
Reminds me of when we use to play with the erector set
yep just a lot more ridiculous
I’ve followed this to a T and now my Baja stops on a dime. Super good videos my guy
