      Great video, can you sometimes do the conversion to metric units for the rest of the world, and please keep doing bike reviews like this, it's more detailed than most channels. Great video and thanks again!

    • @ridexdrive
      @ridexdrive  Рік тому +1

      @@bobthebuilder6715 hey. Yeah. I started trying to do metric in my later videos. With all the numbers and stats that go into making these videos and having to listen to people complain if you're off by 1 mm, it can be quite time-consuming to research both sets of numbers, and in a lot of cases, I have to do the conversions cause the manufacturers don't provide them. It's more work than you might think. But I definitely understand and will try to include them when I can. I am currently taking a break. Again, these videos take a lot of effort. But I truly appreciate your comment and will certainly keep your request in mind with future videos! Cheers!

    This is a phenomenal motorcycle.
    I purchased a new one a few weeks ago and you cannot over emphasize the light weight of this bike - 434 lbs. It's like riding a 600, but with the power of a Liter bike. It lays on it's side sooo easy and loves doing so. After test driving every other bike in it's class, this is absolutely the most balanced of all of them...after adding a few upgrades and a competent ECU flash the power surpasses that of most other stock bikes in it's class. A pure pleasure to ride and certainly has the ability to be a widowmaker if not respected.

      Love this comment. Awesome to hear that a lot of the same things resonate with you. Weight cannot be overstated at all. It’s what really makes the bike so good. Along with the balance and ease of use. Really great bike.

    I picked up '17 CBR1000RR on 11OCT2019. It had 2,189 miles on it and the dealership (car dealership) sold it to me for $10,891. The bike is freakin' light, felt lighter than my CBR600RR. Either way, it's smooth, powerful and get's plenty of compliments. Whoever had it before me, put an M4 muffler on it, and it sounds great. No complaints yet...

    Would like to have a go. I still own a 2010 blade, it’s scary fast. I’ve lightened mine, fitted full arrow system, light weight battery and I’ve dismantled the abs system in favour of braided hoses. Shaving many kilos. My bike now accelerates and turns sharper. A real widow maker lol

      @@mikeanderson2152 Yeah. I have no doubt it is a great bike. Spent plenty of time on the 2005-2006 generation CBR600RR and it was an awesome bike. My first experience with a "supersport" was on that bike. I'd imagine the new ones live up to Honda's standards of building great all around bikes as well. Probably even more so than the CBR1000RR. Just my guess though. If we ever get the chance to review one, we'll jump at the opportunity. Thanks for watching, have fun and be safe!

      @@ridexdrive No thank you for the review. Quick question. i Currently own an MT07. My "commute " to work is only 15 - 20 mins. Bike will be used almost daily but is short bursts, maybe the odd 1 - 2 hour ride on the weekend/ might get into a few track days down the line/Euro tours once a year. You think this is the better choice for this out of the 1000cc sport class comfort wise etc? Or do you have any other recommendations worth looking into?

    • @ridexdrive
      @ridexdrive  4 роки тому +1

      @@ShinigamiShionZ I think the fireblade is the most comfortable and well suited bike for daily commuting out of the big four. Although, I haven't had a chance to ride the GSXR1000 so I can't say how it fairs. I found the CBR more comfortable and easy to ride than the R1 and ZX-10R.
      With that being said, I am not a fan of liter bikes as daily bikes or track bikes. To really get the most out of a 1000cc supersport, you have to be an extremely experienced rider (pro). Most riders will never be able to truly push a 1000 on a track. Straight line pulls on the highway don't count :).
      I think, for most riders, 600s are better for the track and it's easier to gain more technical skills on a 600 vs a 1000. If that mikes sense. Slow bike fast, fast bike slow, something something whatever.
      In terms of commuting, middleweight naked bikes are prime at commuting in an aggressive, sporty matter. They do just about everything really well.
      But, if its gotta be a liter bike, the fireblade is an excellent real world choice. This particular generation, I would skip the matte black color and go for one of the Grand Prix colors.
      Last, in terms of recommendations. It's hard to say because there are so many great bikes out there. If I had to choose I would get a Triumph Daytona for the track and Street Triple for commuting (same bike and I am completely biased). Beyond that a CBR600RR or R6 would be next for the track and an MT-09 for commuting. One bike for everything? Street Triple RS!
      I hope this helps with thinking through things. Just an opinion though. At the end of the day, do what suits you!

    • @ShinigamiShionZ
      @ShinigamiShionZ 4 роки тому

      @@ridexdrive Brilliant. To be honest I'm still heavily deciding between a ZX6r and the CBr1000r (which happen to be the same weight) But I'm keeping the MT07 as well which i may trade for a MT09 down the line) so I feel like I'm not sure if I would want a Middleweight sportbike as well. But thanks for the advice out of the big 4 I think this is the one, going to do some test rides and both and see how it goes. Thanks for the video and response 👍🏾 subscribed

    Nicely done review. Crazy that ABS is not standard though. I think that is mandatory now on all new bikes in the EU so it should be on the EU version as standard. I am thinking of getting a new (old model like yours) 1000RR SP1 for 2020 - the last of the old stock left at the distributor. €19,900 seems a good price considering that the new release SP model costs €27,000.

    • @ridexdrive
      @ridexdrive  4 роки тому

      Stephen Flaherty thanks for watching! Yeah, honestly ABS has always seemed like a luxury on a motorcycle but in today’s world it’s a pretty basic feature. I’ve never been in a situation where I needed it but good to know it’s there if needed. Good luck with your purchase!

If that isn’t how you ride or you don’t care about bragging about something you’ll never do, it’s lighter, more refined, and more enjoyable to ride in most situations than a Kawasaki in my opinion. Thanks! Always makes me happy when people watch my videos that intently. This was shot well before the RR-R was even a thing or at least well before I had any knowledge of it. It's just a minor error in speech and editing. Isn't referring to the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP that was released 2-3 years after recording this. You're not the first person to mention it. I don't even know where it's at in the video. haha. Thanks for the comment though!

    How would you compare this to the S1000RR? I want a comfortable-ish 1000cc supersport, but don’t necessarily want the hard-edged racing machine like the R1, etc. 99% of my riding is on the streets.

    • @ridexdrive
      @ridexdrive  2 роки тому

      The newest S1000RR is in another league imo. But they are both similar in that they do everything really well, are extremely well balanced, well built, and deliver their power in a very linear way. But this generation CBR lacks the tech and outright power you will find on the newest S1000RR. With that being said, if you are mainly a street rider both the Honda and BMW are very comfortable on the streets compared to other superbikes. You'll only be able to use a very small portion of what they have to offer on the streets but they're still great bikes. BMW and Honda made it a point to make both the CBR1000RR and S1000RR friendly on the streets. If you can afford it, I think the S1000RR is the best all-around superbike on the market.

      @@ridexdrive that's 195 kg and some change. Give or take 15/16 kg for fluids even 20kg still puts this bike at 175 kg dry weight which means that this is not the lightest Fireblade ever made as some motoring journo's claim. That honour belongs to the 2002/2003 954 Fireblade which had a dry weight of 168kg... And the second lightest Fireblade was the 2000/2001 929 Fireblade.

      That said.... With the advancement of ergonomics, materials used in construction, principles such as mass centralisation, and utilising data from previous builds, I have no doubt, that the majority of reviews I have watched claim the bike to be light and flickable feeling like a 600 and one guy claims it feels like a 300! That's probably a stretch but I'll settle for 600. Has anybody got an idea on the wheelbase figure?

    • @ridexdrive
      @ridexdrive  4 роки тому

      You are correct! We usually talk about them separately though. Unless we say otherwise, we are usually referring to the 1000 (2004 and newer) models when we mention the fireblade. With smaller engines, it would make sense that the 900s are lighter. They were great bikes too and had the same light weight and balanced philosophy.

      No sir. I have never had an issue with over heating and rarely have any of my CBR1K's ever gotten over 223* sitting in traffic. Now, summer riding in traffic on hot days, your typical weekly check of oil needs to be monitored more. Some oil will burn off and a few ounces will have to be added once or twice during Late Spring/Summer/Early Fall riding season.

An owner that knows his tuning and upkeep will always be faster than a squid just looking for speed and thinking the parts he has added are properly incorporated and yet, clueless to reality. It is inconsequential what you own, they are all fast and so closely matched it is to finite to really care unless you get a boat load of track time in. At which point, you know what you are doing and then, it matters! In my garage now is a 2016 Aprilia RSV4, 2014 BMW HP4, 2010, 2015 SP and will be getting a 2020-21 CBR1000RR-R come March. Aaron Morris the 2019 zx10r is faster than all the bikes you own now. If a 209 WHEEL hp bike isn’t much faster than a 180whp bike to you idk what to tell you, the zx10r makes 20-30 more wheel hp than the Honda, that’s A LOTTT.
