I. Moderato (Tempo commodo) (0:00)
II. Andante molto sostenuto (9:54)
III. Allegro non troppo (18:45)
Karol Szymanowski was Poland’s foremost composer during the first half of the 20th Century, creating a very independent and unusual style that mixed German Late Romanticism, French Impressionism and Polish folk music. All these three were ultimately to blend in his final period when he celebrated the music of his country, superbly crowned by his Symphony No. 4 which is, in his words, both a concerto and a symphony for piano and orchestra.

Absolutely magnificent!
I used to listen to this and sit in my living room to watch my plants grow, they were healthy plants! I think my plants liked this music too !!!
Sounds like you were smoking a few as well!!
Pure beauty! thank you very much for this upload. Wonderful performance of wonderful Polish composer Szymanowski!!!
a 20th century masterpiece !!
fantastic, just heard karol's 3rd and now this 4th symphony, instantly a new favorite composer of mine
Yes definitely a composer who should be heard more. I don't like his 2nd violin concerto but the the 1st is great and as you say the 3rd and 4th symphonies are important 20th c works. Of course he is out of the so-called "main stream" so doesn't get a look in very much as so many orchestra managers just like to stick to the same old thing (Beethoven/Schubert/Mahler etc etc) and throw in a few contemporary works which nobody likes and mostly never get heard of again!
cameronpaul
@@TheVaughan5 His solo piano works are transcending.
Fantastic !
Muzyka to wielka pociecha.
Oj tak :)
Enjoyed this energetic, playful, thunderous, Neoclassical, and cinematic (at times) work !
Ty Uploader... there’s a book- A Natural History of the Piano by Stuart Isacoff. In the appendix he adds more info to the chapters- like other Polish Composers for Chopin, other German composers besides the biggies- that’s how I came to listen- wow- great colors- more to explore thanks to this platform. 30 yrs ago, I’d have to do much more footwork to listen- now it’s all here- we CAN evolve thru knowledge if we try !
Dynamiczne, porywające, nostalgiczne, dramatyczne, tajemnicze i ogólnie piękne!
Estoy plenamente de acuerdo contigo...
Chociaż zabrzmi to infantylnie dodałbym jeszcze jeden przymiotnik: baśniowe.
Taki to właśnie jest polski romantyzmu :) cudo.
my dream is to perform this with orchestra
That first pizz though...

Che strazio.
With all due respect. This is mediocre BS. But then again is Polish and not German. So obviously is Mediocre.
