Even this looks too advanced for gameboy, look how round and detailed chomp is
I like that the name Super Mario 8 has a double meaning since the gameboy is an 8 bit console but also how Mario 64 is technically the 8th mainline mario game.
And what ALSO makes sense is that 8 is the square root of 64
This was a great game... and the 3D N64 remake was even better!

They're pretty advanced graphics for the Gameboy but Super Mario Land 2 had pretty similar graphics

I'd love to see a new 2d Mario that plays like a traditional 3d one (by that I mean Super Mario 3d Land's concept the other way around). That'd be so cool 👍🏻

If other “3D” Mario Games were also released on portable consoles:
-Sunshine: GBA
-Galaxy and Galaxy 2: DS
-3D World: 3DS
At least we are getting most 3D Mario games ported to the Switch with minor tweaks. But yeah, seeing how those 3D games would have looked like if it was playable on older handheld consoles would be great. One person even made a mock-up of what Mario Galaxy would have looked like on the NDS, incase you are wondering. I believe either they made a rom of it, or it was a fake leak using a mock-up of how it would look, I forget which was it.

There is a 2d Mario 64 fan game called Super Mario 63.
Reminds me of that fanmade port of Smash Bros 64 to the Gameboy that included different Fighters than the original. Such as Vaporeon from Pokemon, which STILL has not appeared in any Smash Bros game.

I just realized why it was called super mario 8, its because super mario 64 was 64 bits, and this is 8 bits
awesome. that must have been a lot of work. would have been easier to actually make it a playable demo instead of animating everything by hand :D

Why the mish-mash of Super Mario Land 2, Wario Land 1, and Mario's Picross sound effects?
The physics look weird but man... I would play the shit out of a real demake. Years ago I looked for a Zelda 3 rom hack that transforms it into Link's Awakening and vice versa. Unfortunately nothing this kind exists yet. I would do it myself but I don't know shit about rom hacking and I'm full of wip-projects :D

This uses Super Mario Land 2 Sound Effects. And Super Mario 64 uses unique sound effects, instead of Super Mario Land 2. You need to remake this SM64 demake on Game Boy.
Why put in all this effort when you could've just compressed and pixelated Super Mario 64 footage and call it "Super Mario 64 on the GameBoy"?
