"I Can't Help Falling in Love" guitar cover

"Can’t Help Falling in Love" guitar cover (and maybe a little life lesson). I started these covers to make sure I actually sat down to practice the guitar. Something I rarely did before. 🙈 If I made a promise to myself, had a deadline, and a healthy fear of public humiliation, I definitely would practice. Right? Turns out, mostly yes. And I WORKED on this song. I had a lesson with @bear_in_a_barn_nyc on Saturday and I was frustrated. “I’m really struggling. I’m practicing but I can’t get through it without making a mistake. Recording is gonna be a nightmare, blah, blah, blah”. Of course he was encouraging and helped me through it (bc that’s who he is) but I was really afraid I wouldn’t have a take that I would feel comfortable enough sharing today.
Through that struggle, I think I learned a lesson. I recorded take after take, and I finally thought I had one that was okay. Then I listened to it and all I could hear was my AC blasting in the background. Well, it was 95° on Sunday! So I sat my ass back down, and recorded a few more takes. Then I stopped. I realized I wasn’t gonna get it perfect. I’m NEVER GONNA GET IT PERFECT. What the hell is perfect anyway? I think I’m finally understanding that that’s not the goal. It’s about growth. It’s about learning and failing and trying again. This cover is nowhere near perfect but it’s where I am right now. I’m not gonna fake it. I thought about editing it so it might sound ‘perfect’, but I didn’t. I am learning to play the guitar. I’m not an expert. Here is where I’m at, right now. In this moment. It’s not perfect, but it’s real and that’s enough for me.
