Michele you are the absolute best at giving the most informative and educational content You describe everything in Laymans terms and give so much information that no other UA-camr gives. You would be a great educator and professor!!!! I know more about brushes now than I did from professional makeup artists
I added this video to my favorites so I can rewatch and really soak it in. I also rarely ever comment on videos but just had to take the extra time to say THANK YOU because you are so detailed and informative. Explaining how and why behind your favorite picks. The differences between natural and synthetic brushes, and how you use each of them. I’ve wasted sooooo much money on random brushes, both expensive and cheap, but always left feeling unsatisfied but also lost on. I have so much RESPECT for you taking the time to really explain things and am now excited to be more specific on building a quality brush collection. Thanks again! LOVE this deep dives!!!
Michele, an amazing brush video that was not only informative but helpful on what brushes I’m missing in my collection. I could of kept listening to you go on about brushes and how you use them. This video is a definite must save video! Thank you for going over so many brushes! 😊❤️
Since I’m getting older. I switched all my makeup brushes into natural hair brushes, except foundation and concealer brushes. I really enjoy using Japanese handcrafted brushes. Not just brushes but as art as well
Same here! Once you go to the Japanese natural hair brushes it’s so hard to go back to sigma etc! I do still use the sigma for foundation, synthetic like you said
I'm also older now and I bought two sets of Japanese Fude. They are lovely, however I have plenty of synthetic brushes that are even softer and work just as well. Fude have a lifepsan of 3-5 years, maybe 10-15 years absolute max., only if you happen to take exceptional care of them and really baby them. Now that I've given Fude a try, I can't say the extreme difference in what you have to pay for them is worth it for me. But to each their own! I will be sticking with my excellent synthetic in the long term. They last much longer and actually stay soft. The technology is always getting better, too, so that's why many of the very high quality synthetic brushes pick up and distribute product just as well (if not better) as good Japanese Fude.
thanks for this video! so informative. i love the mini demonstration for each brush- it helps me know how to use those that i have similar versions of in my own tiny collection. i feel more informed about the type of features to look for in my next brush purchases!
It’s like you read my mind! I was just thinking last week, man I REALLY want to redo my brush collection with pieces that will actually last and are worth the investment. But I have no idea where to start…I wish Michelle posted an updated video on this topic… and here you are! With such an amazing delivery of the subject and so well-thought out to give your audience, truly, the best. Thank you SO much!! ❤
I watched this twice at different times. This second time just now I took notes lol!! THIS was a masterclass in brushes and how they work. Oftentimes you get a brush set and are confused on their function. You broke this down in such a way that anyone can understand. I’m in the process of building my brush collection again and now I’m confident in what I want in it. Michelle, all of your content is great and I’ve discovered so many products and lines. While my complexion is warm with golden undertones, I can still get a feel for the products you use because you describe their application as you use them. I’m a true fan of yours (and Miss Butters ❤). This is the only beauty channel I watch and subscribe to!! ❤
I have been desperately wanting a brush video just like this!! @Michele Wang you are seriously the best! I saved several of your videos in “watch later” for a binge on a Sunday afternoon ❤❤
Thank you so much Michele. I bought the Sonia G pro eye set a few years ago and have slowly bought a few face pieces from her pro set. I just found the chikuhodo Z5 and I’m in love. So glad you approve of so many of them. You have a very detailed precise way of explaining them which is appreciated.
By far the most through cosmetic brush review of any content in any form. Thank you for this Michele. Please do more on "tools" or deep dive into more specifics on brushes.
I am such. fan of all your information on brushes! Thank you for the in-depth conversation and explanation. Please keep sharing all about the variety of brushes and what types of products to use.
Michelle, this is one of your best videos ever because it is so educational and practical. I will save it in my archive I am sure I will watch again when search for next brushes.
Have recently started getting into natural hair brushes. Fear of ruining them has me hesitate. This video was very informative and encouraging. Would you consider making a video on how to properly clean and care for them?
My top three brush brands are Rephr, Sonia G and BK Beauty. I just picked up the two new mini Sonia G and her fusion eye set during the Beautylish Gift Card Sale.
Your brush videos are some of my absolute favorite videos from you Michele.. I have a thing for brushes too!… & they are always very informative!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!! ♥️
I remember when you first mentioned the Esum brush for the outer V, being in the uk it was so hard for me to get my hands on it, I managed to get one via an online pal from the states, that brush single handily revolutionised my eyeshadow game and I’m forever thankful that you mentioned it Michele 👏🏽👏🏽
Hi Michele...thanks for another great video! I'm curious about how you clean/take care of your brush collection. Maybe you could work the topic into one of your vlogs? Thanks!
Hi, always loved your brush recommendations. Bought many of them over the years!! I wanted to ask can you please show how to clean cashmere scarfs, sweaters, and tops!!😊
I have those Tim Ford natural brushes that I never use anymore. Those beauties are just sitting there. My desert island brushes are the Zoeve larger brush for foundation, WA baby blender, the Koyudo one that is really short and chubby and the Sonia G mini base. Another great video!🎉
Thank you for sharing! I very much appreciate your opinion and what works for you. It really is a game changer when you use the right products (makeup formula) and tools (brushes). It's something you have to experience to understand.
Thank you for such an excellent video on makeup brushes, Michele! I never knew there is such a difference is natural vs. synthetic hair bushes! You are such a great educator, so very smart and the right words flow easily from your thoughts, which is very, very difficult! I think you would be a very great interviewer on podcasts too as your voice is so calming and so very easy to listen to! I could listen to you all day long! LOL!😊
THANK YOU for explaining how to use the different haired brushes. I’ve been asking for a video like this for a while from various UA-camrs. Really so helpful!!!
Hi Michele, I always enjoy your "favorite" videos and get inspired to try something new! Please share with us how you clean them - I use Rephr soap for natural hair brushes and am really satisfied, however I can not find a good cleanser for synthetic fiber brushes, all lose their softness after cleansing, even the expensive ones... Thank you and have a wonderful day, Ksenija
Love, love, love this video! I love brushes. They make all the difference in makeup application. I recently bought a Bisyodo B-FD-01 foundation brush - long from Fude Beauty and it is AMAZING. I don’t know if you already have it but besides this brush being gorgeous, this brush gives you the most luxurious and flawless foundation application. It is made of Saikoho goat which is the softest goat hair. It wasn’t cheap but I’m not mad. Fude Beauty has some incredible Japanese brushes.
Thank you for this thorough review of different makeup brushes and their uses! It's so helpful to those of us now to using tools in our makeup routine. I just can't get over how beautiful your hair is! I know it's bulled back, but you have a gorgeous salt and pepper look that I can only dream of!
What I would love would be a video where you are applying a full face of both cream and powder products and demonstrate the brushes you use, the type hair preferred and why. It would really reinforce this tutorial. Thanks so much Michele ! ❤
Thank you for this extremely informative video. I need to make specific purchases to get the best look for an upcoming wedding. What I appreciated I’m this video was the references to which product what best align to each brush. While I can’t imagine owning over a thousand brushes, I appreciate your ability to isolate the very best! Thank you, Karen G
Thanks for making this video. I always learn so much from you and as someone who has hard time using brushes, I think the right one for the application is so important. Just bought some Rephr brushes on there sale!
I’ve been waiting for an updated version of this!! Great recommendations! I see a lot of my favs here but I fell head over heels this year for my Hakuhodo brushes.
Yessss brushes 🤓😍💚 Sonia G's worker brushes are the best for one and done looks - my eye shadow looks amazing thanks to the brilliant tool I'm using. Awesome!
Hi Michele. Thank you so much for a wonderful video! Will definitely look into a lot of brushes you mentioned (made a list watching the video - lol). Do you have any recommendations for travel brushes? Something that is more compact?
Michele, u r such a sweet and amazing person. The care and attention u put into this video was so wonderful!!! Explaining everything to do with y and how u use each brush is beyond helpful. This is just one of the many reasons I fell in love with u as a person and the content u create. I've been around for yrs as a subscriber, and I will be as long as u r here. I will say I get in a little life funk and fall out of watching all yt for a little while. Like I did recently, but when I start bk watching, I go bk thru all the videos I missed happily. 😊🫶
I bought the Trish McEvoy brush after seeing you use it. It was my first non-drugstore brush and, to be honest, I didn't have high hopes because I'd been disappointed in my other concealer brushes. So I was thinking "yeah, but is it going to be any bett... WHAT IS THIS MAGIC?!?!" 😂
I'm literally obsessed with makeup brushes, thank you for your video ❤ I'd like to know what you think about the synthetic Rae Morris brushes, I love them, they are so soft, elegant and luxurious 🤩 Thank you
Thank you for all the tips! I learned a lot. I’m looking forward to trying some next time I “get ready” especially the flick technique. I also just picked up the Chanel rouge coco gloss 804 on your recommendation. I was curious if you’ve tried the Sublimage Le Baume. I have been using it this winter on my dry skin and it definitely enjoys the extra moisture.
Yay🎉🎉🎉🎉 This was an amazingly informative video; comprehensive with great explanations and recommendations. I will look to get the rephr #36. Thanks again, Michele.
❤❤❤ this. Just what we needed. I pay a lot for natural hair make up brushes which I too favour and its important to remember how to treat them/use them and look after them. I have hoped for an indepth brush review from you for a long time as I see you as the oracle of make up brushes. Thank you so much. This is truly the most interesting subject for me. More of the same would be fab. ❤
hi michele, so good to see a brush roundup ! i kept thinking, where is that esum flicky brush, has she fallen out of love with it ?! and also why there was no buffing brush.. but all was well at the end 😂 what i want to see now is your scissor collection !!!! 💗
Great selection of brushes and your explanations are spot on. Thank you. I use a lot of Wayne Goss brushes because I prefer a more bendy brush for certain things. Sometimes Sonia G brushes are a bit too dense for me and I end up with too much product. It is operator error LOL The majority of my brushes are Japanese natural hair brushes. You just can't beat them. My fav brands are Wayne Goss, Sonia G, Rephr, CHIKUHODO, KOYUDO and Hakuhodo. I've also found I prefer undyed goat hair to dyed except for a loose powder brush. For synthetic brushes I like BK Beauty (all of them) and Real Techniques (dual fiber design) and the older Marc Jacobs Face 2. I love brushes. The more the merrier. Means less washing LOL
I love this video (and all of your videos)!! Will you consider doing an updated brush cleaning video with these favorite brushes? I’m specifically curious about cleaning your Sonia G fusion brushes since they get dirty so quickly with creams and you have to be more careful with them than the BK beauty brushes. I have a very small amount of brushes and use the same brushes daily. I’ve been hesitant to use the fusion brushes because I don’t want to over clean them, but I want to use them because I paid for them and they’re beautiful. Do you have any suggestions to keep them clean but also safe since I can’t just rotate brushes
Use a microfibre towel between uses. Gently remove powder and creams by using the same motions as you use to apply your makeup. For a deeper clean, use a very gentle neutral soap and tepid water in a shallow bowl. Dip the bristles in the bowl and swirl gently. Gently squeeze the cleansing mixture out. Rinse in a shallow bowl filled with tepid water. You might need to repeat the cleansing steps several times. You must take care not to get the ferrule wet. You can pay dry with a microfibre towel and let the brushes air dry upside down. You might need a brush guard to shape your brushes after washing. Some people “powder wash” their brushes with white cosmetic powder. It’s pure talc. You gently swirl your brush through a small amount of white powder until you have no makeup left in your brush. You then remove the last of the powder from your bristles with a microfibre cloth. Jaybird walking has a detailed video on using this method. It extends the life of your brushes between washes. Beautylish has a collection of brush cleaning videos and articles.
What a great video! Since starting to watch you several years ago I've become a brush fan and it's such a pleasure to have brushes that make application work but also feel luxe. I've been loving the Niji Pro recently and I live for the Rephr 04 (I have 4 of them LOL). Thanks for such a good tour and tips for use!
Wow, I didn’t realize how many brushes you’ve recommended over the years that I’ve gotten and absolutely love. I’m in the market for a powder brush, which I’ll pick up at the Beautylish event. I think I’ll get the Westman Atelier Baby Blender at the Sephora VIB Sale in April.
THANK YOU THANK YOU MICHELLE FOR MAKING THIS VIDEOS. THANK YOU 😊, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!! After hearing you repeatedly mentioning some of the products, I purchased the La Mer brush, the powder foundation, La Mer tinted moisturizer, and the soft Moisture powder foundation Sonia G Liquid foundation brush and buffer brush, Koh Gen do finishing powder, Surrat foundation, Trish McEvoy 55 deluxe blender to name a few and I AM LOVING 🥰 THEM. I like natural looking foundation like yourself and this products are the BEST. Thank you for making this video and thank you for being YOU!!! VIRGOS ARE THE BEST ❤️❤️🥰🥰😁
What a great video! I have learned a lot today. But I must watch it against. And will check the description box below cause I do need brushes. Thank you!!!😊
Thank you for this! Can you give your opinion on the Nikki La Rose brushes from BK Beauty? So many of their brushes are out of stock but the NLR are in stock.
❤❤❤ So happy you’re still loving your 101! Honored to be in your favorites Michele ❤
my all time faves

Wow, thank you so much Jacqueline!
For anyone saying “a brush is a brush” CLEARLY have not seeing Michelle, right? 🤭 the eyes see what the mind knows ❤
Amazing video! Not only do we get product recommendations, but I loved hearing about specific ways you use to apply them. ❤
Thank you so much!!
Wow! That ESUM W36 outer corner shading trick is just gorgeous. I had to rewind it and watch it again. Just beautiful!

I’ve just looked into doing an order for three of the brushes and the shipping would have been $70! Erm, nope..
Excellent video! I learned so much and this I will keep in my library as I play with more and more makeup. Thanks Michele!
Just searched YT for best makeup brushes as I am VERY overdue for replacements and yay lo and behold you made this video just three weeks ago.
Hi Michele...thanks for another great video! I'm curious about how you clean/take care of your brush collection. Maybe you could work the topic into one of your vlogs? Thanks!
I absolutely love the Esum W36 brush. ❤ I learned how to flick my outer corners from you Michele!
This was a master class in makeup brushes. I learned so much. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I have so many of these. Honestly brushes make a huge difference. Can you share how you wash your brushes, especially the natural hair brushes.
A wonderfully instructional video on brushes, fibres and application. You are a very talented teacher. I enjoyed this so much. Thank you.
I use the sculpt 4 for blending out my westman altelier contour stick, works really well that way!
Michele, I appreciate your knowledge about the details of these brushes!
Thanks so much Tina!

Great video🎉 Ilia has a complexion brush very similar to the Smashbox one and I love it🥰
Awesome 😎
I’ve been waiting for an updated version of this!! Great recommendations! I see a lot of my favs here but I fell head over heels this year for my Hakuhodo brushes.

Yessss brushes 🤓😍💚 Sonia G's worker brushes are the best for one and done looks - my eye shadow looks amazing thanks to the brilliant tool I'm using. Awesome!
Thank you for this great learning session on using makeup brushes. Very helpful
This was super educational. Thanks, Michele. Love my BK 101, 106, 109 and BK x Angie 506.
Hi Michele. Thank you so much for a wonderful video! Will definitely look into a lot of brushes you mentioned (made a list watching the video - lol). Do you have any recommendations for travel brushes? Something that is more compact?
Very helpful review. Thankyou Michelle for demonstrating how you use these beautiful brushes.
Thank you so much!!
Michele, u r such a sweet and amazing person. The care and attention u put into this video was so wonderful!!! Explaining everything to do with y and how u use each brush is beyond helpful. This video was perfect! Thank you for the recommendations. I’ve added a lot to my Wishlist lol
Thanks and you're welcome!
Beautiful makeup look ❤️
Thank you so much 😀
I've never been that intrigued by fan brushes until seeing Sonia G's..Glad to have you confirm that inclination to buy 😊
Hi Michelle! What brush is your favourite currently for the RMS blush? I really value your opinion! Thanks for your answer in advance :)
Hurrah hurrah for this video….I have been waiting for this and asking for it sooooo I’m excited….
i love love your videos, you explain everything so detailed, thank you
I bought the Trish McEvoy brush after seeing you use it. It was my first non-drugstore brush and, to be honest, I didn't have high hopes because I'd been disappointed in my other concealer brushes. So I was thinking "yeah, but is it going to be any bett... WHAT IS THIS MAGIC?!?!" 😂
Loved this video!! Great job Michelle I loved seeing you talk about your favs!!
Yay! Thank you!
Thanks for posting. Have you tried Rose and Ben brushes?😊
Thankyou so much. I am in the process of setting up brushes and this is very timely.
Hey Michele! I agree Beautylish has loads of great brushes! Did you get their newest release with Chikohodo?
Yay🎉🎉🎉🎉 This was an amazingly informative video; comprehensive with great explanations and recommendations. I will look to get the rephr #36. Thanks again, Michele.
I'm watching to see which ones are your favourite travel set.
I don't talk about travel sets, but for natural hairs I would get the Sonia G Mini Keyaki sets, and for synthetic, I would go for the BK Beauty Set!
@@TheMicheleWang oh thank you!

I never knew brushes could be so interesting. This video was surprisingly addictive to watch!
Excellent plan!! xoxo
