Quick upgrade if you have a project that holes in the letters. R and P are good examples of these types of letters. ua-cam.com/video/fNEBQBpo8W4/v-deo.html
Love when YT suggests these random videos to me. Instant watch.
Makes my day to hear that I am lucky Random UA-camr! Thanks for the watch. 💯🔥
You have an amazing gift for teaching, much appreciated. You sometimes just click around a bit fast in the menus but I just rewind to catch up, I am new to Tinkercad and drawing programs but I will soon be flying around like you😊
Thanks for the feedback!! One trick I share with users is the built in speed option that UA-cam has. I had some kiddos in my classroom that watched me a 2x speed. 🤯
Feel free to reach out if you have questions. Some of the coolest things I create start with questions from viewers.
Wait, you can pick the “boss” shape when using align? 🤯
Even though making a lightbox is not in my immediate plans I always watch your videos because I know I’ll learn at least one new thing. Your videos were a key reference for me when I recently made a retirement gift for a coworker. I appreciate you sharing your skills plus your videos are a joy to watch!
Thanks tons! Glad the videos are useful. When I was working with middle schoolers, I kept trying to find a phrase to explain how to pick the master for centering. And the boss became the key. :-) Makes my day to hear that it’s still useful.
Had trouble with more advanced CAD software getting this done. You make TinkerCAD so simple! Awesome work!
Super cool @Kimchi_Studios! Love to hear it when there is a success. 👏💯
Wow!! I feel like I learned SO much from this short video and I’m so excited to print my first sign now and see how it is. Thank you!
Fantastic! Makes my day to hear that @ash4abundance 👍
Thanks for the awesome video, have been trying to make a led sign for ages and got my first one done today 👍
Greatly appreciate the kind words! Makes my day when users are successful. Good call on letters with holes. Here is my tutorial for that. ua-cam.com/video/fNEBQBpo8W4/v-deo.html Note there is a part 2 that helps with fit.
BRILLIAN VIDEO ive learnt how know ,thanks for the instructions very clear
Fantastic! Makes my day to hear that @scratchcardsdandl 👍
Thanks for this. Very helpful
You’re welcome! I’m glad you found it helpful. Have a great weekend!
This is awesome! My students are having a blast (5th graders)
So cool! Have you let the use sim lab yet? Thank you for sharing!
@@HLModTech Not yet. I want to learn how before I do it with the class. Been watching your channel for about 4 months now to get ready for this fall when school starts up again.
Groovy! This one is crazy fast if you want a quick starter. ua-cam.com/video/PZlzPZg3qw8/v-deo.html Feel free to reach out if you have more questions. Some of the coolest things I create start with questions from viewers.
Very nice method
Always appreciated @techreviews3. Have a great week!
Cool 😎
Always appreciated @wayneagent2119.
Thanks this is what i needed 😊
Super cool @ElektroTechNL! Love to hear it when there is a success. 👏💯 Thanks for visiting the channel!
BRILLIANT!!!
Thank you! Do note that if you have a letter with a hole in it you will want to watch this video. ua-cam.com/video/fNEBQBpo8W4/v-deo.html
@@HLModTech all came out perfectly!!! THANK YOU AGAIN! Brilliant method and 'shortcuts'!!!
@@lord_skittlz Love it when a plan comes together!!! Thanks tons for the note.
Thanks for the thorough tutorial, also you could be Kevin James's brother.
Always appreciated @MrRoberto167. I think he would be fun to have as family. =) I also hear Mario, Ted Lasso, and The Bob Ross of Tinkercad quite often.
awesome video and tinker tips!
Thanks so much!!
I did find this video very useful. I will have to try to make one.
Awesome! Would love to hear how it turns out. 👍
Great tutorial!!!
The perfect way to start my day @gvetech. Thank you.
very cool man!
Thank you. I had quite a bit of fun with that tutorial.
Love this project!
Thanks!
Muito bom!. very good. Thanks
My pleasure @negrelli. Thank you for the feedback! 👍💯
Thanks for the video and project idea. Been using Tinker Cad for several Years. Thanks for showing Canva, I was looking for a source for quick fonts to import.
Glad it was helpful! I love the fonts in Canva. Being able the push the characters together is the part that makes that trick work.
I do have a quick question. When creating the top piece of the light box sign, did you have to scale it down for clearance any? I usually use like 0.4mm to get parts to snap into place. I know odd shapes don’t always scale for fitment as I’d like. . Thanks!!!
@@bowieinc I did not scale it at all. The Bambu P1S is pretty darn accurate. Since I printed both parts on it, even if it were a tad inaccurate... it would be the same for both parts. I have added and removed that text several times while recording and adding the LED's. Zero issues with fit. At .1mm thick, it was pliable too. I may try it at .5 mm thick just to see if that causes an issue.
❤❤Thank you
My pleasure! Thank you for the note.
Try using filement LEDs they will make it look nice!
I did snag some. I just haven’t finished that video yet. :-) Thanks tons for the tip.
Hi. This is just amazing and it is impressing how well you explain everything. I have a question tho: what needs to be done in order to have the white part of the text (the one that gets the light passing through) to pop out of the base? as in, to stand outside the design and not inside? To try to explain better, I want to create a design, where the white part sits on the tiny interior extrusion and comes off above the entire base). Hope I explained in a good understandable way. Thank you!
Thank you. See if this design fits what you are asking for. ua-cam.com/video/fNEBQBpo8W4/v-deo.html Do note there is a part 2 where I show you how to get a better fit for that top part.
This is a great tutorial. Thanks so much. How do you avoid the inner layer of the base needing supports when you slice it in Bambu Studio?
Thank you. I think I just disabled them. There may be a little stringing, but it i inside so I do not care that much.
Do you think clear filament would work well or would the hot spot of the LED's be visible?
I am wanting to make a sign with two lines of text and a dark area of separation between the lines of text and where I can have soldered wires separating the LED's for each line, do you have any advice?
I have not experimented much with it. I know that making mine larger would have been nicer for putting the lights in there. It would be worth a shot to try the clear... but I think also making the white part a tad thicker may even that out too... One of these days I need to return to that project and make one that I really intend to display... My goal there was just to demonstrate the technique so you all could expand and make your own awesome projects.
I would love to see one with an internal/changeable battery option
I rarely print anything that large... but this one was getting closer to that size. ua-cam.com/video/fNEBQBpo8W4/v-deo.html I think the technique would still work though.
How do you deal with the void in an o?
Great question. Made this video for that. ua-cam.com/video/fNEBQBpo8W4/v-deo.html Note there is a part 2 where I adjust the top plate for a better fit.
Nice tutorial. So if you press ctrl and shift, it moves 1mm? Or does it move the amount you have set as your snapping? Thanks
Using the arrows allone matches the snap grid setting which defaults to 1mm. If you hold Shift and tap and arrow it is 10x that far. Ctrl+Shift does not work... unless you hit the up arrow... then it moves 10x up or in Z... Hope that makes sense.
Meant shift, sorry. Thanks. Answered my question. Excellent. @@HLModTech
Groovy. 👍 Love it when a plan comes together. 😊
Any recommendations on what I can use to convert the SVG to STL file?
I do it in this tutorial. ua-cam.com/video/rOTHk15wWJY/v-deo.html
Can you do these same steps with an image?
Sure. You just need the mono color outer edge and a the silhouette for the bottom. That will be an upcoming video. =)
following along step by step doing exactly what you are. but when I import into tinkercad I get and outline. looks like a cookie cutter. what am I missing?
changed it on picsvg from internal two to internal 3 and now it imported like yours did
Great work. That was the tip I was going to share. 💯🔥
@@HLModTech thanks man!
I wonder if it would look better if you had added a sliver of thicker material between the first two letters rather than an open slot. The unfiltered light coming through the gap is a little distracting, and a thicker area would just look a little darker, which would probably look good. Or you could even use the slicer to swap back to blue filament for the thickened sliver.
Great points. I also have a different LED style I want to try in there. This technique was pretty slick, but I never choose to light this one up. ua-cam.com/video/fNEBQBpo8W4/v-deo.html
Excellent! I asked before but is there a way to taper a cylinder other than using a cone? I’ve tried the cone but it asks for radius rather than actual size so it’s difficult to set to an exact size. Thanks
Thanks. Check this trick for making things larger than the parameters allow. ua-cam.com/video/_b6rIphh35U/v-deo.html
@@HLModTech I can see that working for square sides but not for a cylinder. Is there a way to set a specific size for each end of a cylinder? Thanks
If you have an AMS, just print by object instead of by layer. It will print one object before switching colors and printing the next object.
Thanks for the tip!
Tried doing this with our school mascot, but it didn't fit correctly in the more complex shapes. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just a limitation of Tinkercad? Thanks! Great tutorial!
You are likely doing it fine... for trickier shapes try this. ua-cam.com/video/cZwewnE9RdA/v-deo.html
One day and almost 2,000 views!
I love it when it works like that! Thanks for dropping by!
Is there a reason why you didn't export SVG from Canva?
Two reasons... One I do not have Premium Canva... 2nd reason is Canva SVG files had issues... I first learned of Canva while helping someone that had a borked SVG file. ua-cam.com/video/sFwJiK-sdNc/v-deo.html
What type of filament did you use?
Good question. That was a PLA project. One generic and one the white is Bambu Basic.
You show HLMT as a lightsign, but how do you for example create a lightbox with the name Sonja? cause i have gaps in the letters and wonder how you would solve those? excellent tutorial for the rest
Coming soon. 😜 Great point!
Awesome! Idk what happened with the Guards this series but I wasn’t happy 😭. Congrats tho to you guys! You guys exposed our biggest weakness all season long starting pitching, so I’m hoping we can get that fixed because we even if we make the playoffs we ain’t going anywhere with that pitching 🤝
Thank you and I get it. The Tigers have not hit much at all this year. Breaking out against you guys was a huge surprise. You guys have had at least 2 pitchers go down for the year, right? That always hurts! Good luck next series. We have the Dodgers. 😱 Only like 8x our payroll...
@@HLModTech Yea we lost Bieber and then we sent down two pitchers to the minors because they were doing bad. I hate the Dodgers so I would feel better if you guys took 2 out of 3 against them knowing maybe you guys are just on a hot streak 😊 we have the rays which is always a fun series when we play them. Good luck as well 🤝
I was listening while driving to visit the fam last night. Had the lead till I got there. =( How did you fare vs. the Rays?
@@HLModTech Lost two to nothing I don’t like this 😭 lol
How does this work with letters like P and R? I am trying to do GRUMPY....that is what my Grandchildren call me. Thank you.
I simply added the "holes" with cylinders. There is an example of the technique in this tutorial. ua-cam.com/video/jx_mDNeCslM/v-deo.htmlsi=lKuHj1tpQAgMWuf1&t=232
Making a video of a smarter technique right now. Will be up in an hour or so.
Didn't know that you could import images into tinkercad
I love the STL import tool. This video adds tricks for letters with holes. ua-cam.com/video/fNEBQBpo8W4/v-deo.html I did not make the connection that HLMT was a easy combination of letters for printing. 🤦♂️
Trying to follow along and learn. You stated using Instagram Square Post. What is it and how do you get to it? You went through it so fast and the viedo quality not good enough to read what you clicked on.
That’s in canva
Istagram square post?
It just has the size I like for making parts I will use elsewhere. You could use whatever template you wanted.
So how did you save the top plate separate? You totally skipped over that. Next thing you know it just magically appeared and it was printed
When you export the part you can choose "selected object".
I don't think cut and paste images is limited to one color. I think perhaps when you copy in the original you are only copying one layer instead of the entire image.
Are you speaking of the step where I bring the text from Canva to PicSvg?
decent work tho very basic explanation on this idea
Thank you. I have a few more tutorials on the concept. Users keep asking about different variations. This one has been reasonably popular too.
This is junk
Which part of it has you frustrated?
it looks terrible
@@itscoleonyoutube Thanks for the feedback.
@@HLModTech haha sorry now I feel bad. But the lighting and finish can be better even on an affordable 3d printer. I dont think its sellable at the moment. Its a good tutorial and the video content was well done. I just cant sell the product.
No worries. As a former teacher my goal is to make a tutorial that helps users create what they want. Are you making much money selling 3D prints? I have never tried to sell anything I have created.
It looks fine what’s wrong with it. With more LEDs it’d be perfect
That was very underwhelming.
Thanks for the feedback.
