I read this story while binging the rest of the series and agreed with most that nothing really happened and was pretty disappointed with it. Re-read it all back to back recently and I actually really liked it and considered it a highlight of this era of the comic. A couple of the early stories were slogs like this one, but it does get really fun and focus heavily on charming character interactions which is pretty much what I come to archie sonic for. So I guess the solution is to read it all back to back and you might get more of a kick out of it.

I’m guessing there’s a reason it’s been discontinued 😅
so why is Ken Penders hated because I'm not really sure ?
He sued to gain ownership of the characters he contributed to the comic, Archie Comics wasn't smart enough to keep the paperwork so Penders won that suit, but as a result, Archie retconned ALL of his characters out of the series with a reality-bending reboot. That, and creepy stuff Penders did before that.
That's all I know.
