LOve my hat and T-shirt, Thx!
Blue
camo Green
Keep it Red.
May I please inquire on where and what brand are the new head lights in the jeep? I would love a set for my ford.
Hillbilly electical tip - Instead of cutting all the wires to the same length, if you stagger your connections, the entire loom will stay more consistent in size throughout. Placing all your connections at the same spot makes it look like a snake swallowed a rat. Loving this build!
well it didn't let me post a pic, but what it is , is a shop light, 5500 lumen, has a rotating feature so you can direct the light where ever you need it, stands about 40ish inches high. Was my answer to all my lighting needs under my lift.
Thats standard practice, not hillbilly! Very good advice though!
I'm a subscriber of both Fab Rats and Matt's Off Road Recovery. One thing I like to see is two friends wheeling or working. I've noticed that Paul will drop whatever he's doing to help Matt in a recovery or whatever he needs and I'm sure Matt does the same. That's a true friend. This world sure needs more of that. Well done guys and keep the great videos coming!!
I love Michelle she is so positive and happy and outgoing all the time it makes me feel happy to see a great family , love you guys
We think a good “Mountain Dew Green” would look great. It’s good to see Papa Dar awake during the entire video. Good job guys
He would be if he drank enough Mountain Dew...lol
Mountain dew green? Aka p1ss yellow? Lol
This channel is so underrated! Love seeing builds that are done quick, somewhat informative and not dragged out.
Thanks! That means a lot!!
That is awesome, in the short rows. Those floor pans looked pretty substantial. Glad to see Dar has his cast/brace off.
I look forward to seeing Papa Dars jeep and Matt's Corvair climb the waterfall.
me to me to!
the Corvair look so heavy
@@kevinrandlett2920 I think matt said in one video its supposed to be around 4500 lbs
Saw you knocking your light off, I'm sure it's happened before, I know for me, it happened a lot, so I built this. Makes it look like the sun is shinning on it. Repurposed every thing. Wheels are off an old office chair. Very light weight, you you hit it, it rolls instead of flopping over. Has really worked well under my lift.
I was about to give up on the Fab Rats video drop for today! Really glad I got to see the Superhero in his Heromobile!
My Mum at 85 used to drive her heavy diesel engine station wagon which had no power steering.... when the guys from the garage came to pick it up for a service, they used to complain about that.. they had a tough time steering it round the block... ha ha. This jeep looks like it has a long life ahead of it! Looking forward to seeing it get a work out.
The trick to steering is to be rolling. If it is stationary you need a sumo wrestler to move the steering wheel, lol
Good to see Dar's arm back in action!
Crab olive green exterior( it’ll hide the scapes and pinstripes better)...bed liner EVERYTHING else. That thing is a beast!
👍👍❤️
hahahah...Darr, " I cut it 3 times and it's still to short"...Get this man an emmy!
Looks like Papa Dar is feeling better, and eager to help out!
Papa dar must be getting excited, he didn't take a nap during this video! 😜👍😂
The power of editing probably
Great follow up on Papa Darr’s YJ running after Pauls weld up. Lots of work. Great job Paul 🤙😎
Perfect video, there's only 2 channels on UA-cam that I watch every ad on. Yours and Matt's.
Awesome!!👌
I put the same headlights in my XJ, just with a black housing instead of a chrome one. They are FANTASTIC
Thanks for posting! The race to the finish line. Paul building the Yj, and Matt building the Corvair. Love watching these projects come together.
Yep. Which one will be done first.
Tinkers Chance, we need to “make book” on the race. 😎
Ralph Red. My grandfather Ralph Thompson painted everything Rustoleum red! Lol
21:15
God I love that laugh !!! Your 1 lucky man!!
it's nice to have good friends to work on fun projects while building memories.
Paint it army green, look like an old school army jeep on steroids
The mt dew decals army green and the rest mt dew green
That would be the best an army green like the old school jeeps ,or like a sand tan color that they used to have on the military humvee's .
if i could paint everything i own army green, i would
Now it’s time to build the boys square body; excellent father son, and momma project. Looking forward to that build.
Dar's Jeep has beat the Corvair to the self driving benchmark!!👍
It's getting much closer to being able to do some rock crawling 🥳
I'm thinking Dar will want a seat that is a little more secure and has a little more padding for those occasional bumps 😉
Good job 👍👍
Papa Dar had the look of ABOUT TIME on his face. It was priceless. Even when everything goes like it is supposed to. They take forever to build. Great job as always Paul.
The hood decal should be “RUBIDAR”
Just a thought when I solder wires and shrink tube them before I shrink I cover the joint with dielectric silicon to keep not only water but oxygen form degrading the connection. Some but connectors come with silicon already in them
Funny, here in rust country when something needs transmission lines it gets the steel lines cut and rubber lines installed!
Tubing bending. Take that rubber sleeve off and mount it in the vice horizontal while laying the degree indication across the scale so 0 is level. Then work from there using the degree wheel like on an exhaust bender Another tip is to use a needle nose vise grip and clamp it at the angle you want to become 0 for the X-axis. The vice on the end of the bench swivels and will fab line every time better than a mandrel with a little practice. The nice part is it is a good enough bender to straighten oops most times. I like to run lines up high or better yet to a frame rail using braid then again braid at the radiator or solid at the cooler. I think that is the best use of a vin K TBI set up ever. Simple but effective injection.
It's nice to see Dar out of the cast and using his arm!
Does anyone else look away from your computer when Paul strikes an arc? Old habits....when the mig start frying......"Oooooh oooh don't look!"
Good to see a smile on darrsvface.
I had been wondering how you get away with driving vehicles around without registration, lights, brakes and the like. Then I realize your neighbor and good friend use the mayor's father....... Great too have those kinds of friends. Love the builds.
Reminds me of a CJ 8!! Great job! I think he should paint her a desert tan like on the old toyota trucks used to come in. I believe mine that color was an 89.
I love watching yalls videos. Paul is an absolute genius. Not to mention a stellar person. Actually everyone there are amazing people. I am originally from Colorado, and yall and Matt's crew remind me of back home. The way people are super nice and willing to help anyone. If yall want to come to Florida and help me with CJ-7 that would be awesome. Even have a brand new welder for the boys to play with. Beer & BBQ are on me.
We’ll be right over!! Love Florida! What part? We visit family as often as we can down there. 👍🏻
Definitely one of a kind!
He'll be the envy of the Jeep guys on the trail!
AWESOME video as always !
I've watched [an even done a couple myself] a TON of car/truck build's over the years but THIS/papa Dar's jeep & Matts Corvair are at the top of the list of ALL TIME favorites !
Me ,my wife & my kids [even the grown 1s] ALL watch together an we LOVE yawl's stuff BIGTIME !
Thank you guys for bringing us this AMAZING informative & family friendly content !
HOWDY from the boondocks in East Texas !
Thanks for watching!! You’re awesome!!
Dar should paint it purple in honor of the missing wire color.
Agreed ... Slurpee Straw Purple
Color? red with a vertical black strip down the sides... DONE!
The state color of Alabama: Primer. At least that's what Larry the Cable Guy says.
Take some hunter orange and add a little bit of danger red to it, paint it that color. Dark brownish silver for any stripes or accents👍
It’s already red ! Just easier to keep it red. 😉
That'd be my choice, although the Army green suggestion sounds good too.
Desert camo bottom with green camo naturally blended together ,jungle meets sandy desert mirage like one of a kind.🤔👍😊
Hey Paul ever thought about doing some videos on your diesel? Maybe some modifications like traction bars or long arm kit. Interested in fabricating myself some and wanna see how you do it. Thanks
I’m watching from the uk and loving the channel
I hope to get out that way in the future
😊
Baracoda Slime Green for the paint! with black stripes
Paint it bright orange w a text on the side, or hood saying ”orange is purple” 😆
an edge forming tool (or a bench vise with a couple pieces of angle iron) makes for a piece of sheet metal that you can have a lip on to overlap on the other sheet metal. throw some plug welds in it and use seam sealer on the rest to seal it up. You add a lot less heat to the metal preventing warping and it makes for a stronger product when youre done.
Jeeps coming out great! ill be shortening my f250 frame this summer. What wheel base did you end up with?
4:06 you mention having a 50/50 chance. Had a college professor that taught our class about the 50/50/90 rule. He pointed out that anytime you have a 50/50 chance, 90% of the time you will pick the wrong thing. I don't know if I have encountered a more true statement in my life.
THIS REPLY MAY OR MAY NOT APPLY TO THIS VIDEO...A FEW DAYS AGO I WAS WATCHING UR VIDEO ON & ABOUT SHOWING UR WIFE HOW TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL IN HER CAR..&..YOU BOTH DID A COMMENTS REVIEW THING...I THOUGHT THOSE COMMENTS TO BE RUDE & MORE OF SAME...PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE URSELVES BECAUSE OF BAD COMMENTS...PLEASE PLEASE ALLWAYS REMAIN UR TRUE SELVES..THATS WHAT MAKES THESE VIDEOS INTERESTING & REAL...WE REQUIRE MORE REAL ALL THE TIME... L O L OVE ...
Watching this again, the M&Ms package reminded me I have 2 bags of M&Ms in the kitchen cupboard, Almond large and Caremel HUGE PARTY bags. MMM Good caremel.
Kinda, sort of, not quite perfect, close enough, good enough, it’ll work, love these mechanical terms 👍👍
dont forget eyecrometer
works best if the music is left out of a you tube about a off road vehicle period . Old guy here from the muscle car era and love to here those high perf rumpity rump engine racket over any racket (music). Good vids and a big fan of you guys in the desert running and building vehicles. No sand around here ...just bottomless mud/snot slick clay and rocks.
Nice job.
Great video, it shows all the little bits of work that need to be done to get a project to the end.
Somebody ought to make a list of all the stuff that has to be done, otherwise a bunch that little shi..... Will be forgotten, I'm just saying 😎
You and you dad are awesome the way you work together. Myself and my dad were both carpenters I became a millionaire many times over but would have traded places with you any day. Keep up the great work.
We didn’t get along very well
Cant wait for the how to paint your jeep with Michelle segment :)
My folks where part of a Moose Lodge Jeep Posse in the 60's. From old photos most of them where painted with a red/white combo. It looked a lot like a McCormick Farmall red. Deer hunting in the fall was quite breezy with these guys only the pick-ups had cabs.
5 years from now Paul will be like "what idiot used a purple wire to extend an orange wire!" :D
Congratulations,it moves again....😁😁👍👍
Yep. Definitely (Go Juice) Mountain Dew Green.
Lol, I got a flat tire in Mt. Carmel yesterday and we spent the time waiting for help (recovering from surgery) watching FabRats videos. 😁 It was a good way to pass the time.
We could’ve helped you, if we would’ve been home.
@@FabRats lol, our insurance sent help from Panguitch. We were trying to go to the Balloon Festival in Kanab. We didn't make it, but it just made for another adventure.
Paint it Partridge Family style. It's Frankensteined together, make it look so.
I think a patina forest green would look proper, Jeep is looking awesome guy's 😉👍
I was getting worried that there was a MORR video, a Casey video...but no Fab Rats video. You came thru!
Great job Paul. Thank you very much for sharing.
The jeep looks like one of those old "radio flyer" wagons
That would be an epic paint color!!
lol , i knew the proportions reminded me of something .. thanks
Great work sir thats a pretty sick extendo jeep
Always looking forward to your channel!!
I'm partial to Rhodesian Brushstroke Camouflage but Candy Apple Red is nice too. You guys and gals do some great products.
I say bedline the whole thing if you're going to make it rough and rugged you might as well go all the way
Yeah just don't use the guy at ?Las Vegas rhino liner?? that Matt used for the corvair. !!!!! It seems like he had poor quality control
You should get it painted dark purple, with black around the edges. Will look sweet.
And everybody thinks the oversized Amazon boxes are a waste of cardboard. Little do they know...
SASSY GRASS GREEN FJ6!! The 1970 AAR PLYMOUTH ‘CUDA came in that “High Impact” color. If you want that Jeep to pop and be different that’s your color with black stripes or accents.
Old army green is a good color? Someone already suggested!!
Safety green! (Looks greenish yellow to us.) Us old farts can't see much anymore, so it's only fair to everyone else on the road or the trail, that they are able to see us!
Paint it “go go juice” green.
Or British Racing Green, or that Jaguar Green :)
@@gregormiller4037 wanted to paint my rally car British racing green and was told it will show every panel fault so black and white it was ,cheers mate
Awesome, greetings from Bulgaria.
You should paint the jeep the same colors as the corvair on matts channel lol. Y'all both crack me up 😆. Papa Dar not taking a nap in the shop? That guy loves his naps 😆.
When old guys need are nap
Right on!! Now we just need a video of Papa Dar wheeling with Matt's Corvair. Let's go!
Banana yellow upper half with some medium gray on the rest comes to mind, for some reason.
Closing off the lines and filling them with brake fluid before you bend them helps radius them correctly without kinking them.. haven't see you learn us that yet.. ;-)
Color, either caltrans orange or equipment yellow.
I'm a guy in Ohio who could change his own oil but doesn't. (That's my skill level in cars.) And yet I'm so happy to see you guys getting this jeep going and to see some other guy in Utah get a Corvair on wheels! Great work guys! :) (By the way, I got my Fab Rats beanie Saturday! )
Awesome!! Hope you love it!!
Definitely not "Winder yellow", how about the same shade of red that matches the interior?
My YJ is from Moab RED Rock 4 wheel club member. 1989 Islander 2.5 liter It's new home is the mountains of northern Pennsylvania
Dad gum it! You messed up my Sunday morning by not posting a video. Now I'm all discombobulated. I hope you're happy.
Me to!!
Messed me up too
Great video ya beat Matt he's not running yet good job oh I miss the cackling behind camara
Oh you guys! We eventually got it posted up.😜 Glad you miss me! -Michelle
I know this is an older video, but it's first time I have seen it and when you made the Flintstone's comment I spit out my drink thinking "Barney Rubble"..... Keep up the great videos!!
How can you let that old dude drive that death trap, give that jeep to me and I'll take care of it. Kidding but I'm happy to see it go.
I just got a sweet tool from Matco called EZsolder. You should check it out. You'd love it!! Holds both wires and has a thumb feed for the solder that goes in the handle. 👌🏻💪🏻
Copper, like the jeep golden eagle.
My "Golden Eagle" was white.
@@ottokiehl5413 yes. Some were.
Vintage tool rescue builds an “original crescent” and they are perfect to hold wires while soldering! Amongst other things. I use a couple of them when soldering and welding!
I say you paint it the same green you painted Matt’s trans.
I agree paint it same color of mat's trany
The metal at the beginning looked like pure Beskar. This is the way!
I've never seen anyone use a torch to solder with! Awesome work guys!
Maybe try bending a coat hanger or something similar in size to get your pattern for your transmission lines. Then copy the bends all at once.
The Apache helicopter pattern 👌 for Desert.
The jeep is alive...👍. Papa Darr has a good looking Jeep...good job Paul...
Great job Paul, spot on
I feel like it should have a "fabrats" livery on it . There is alot of fabrication on that beast , all it would do is show off the work you guys put it into it . Glad to see dars arm is doing good , also happy to finally see that thing move . I cant wait to see it all finished up, complete and on the trail again . Good job guys !
