    What I love about Steve is he never gives in, he’s always trying to make something happen. I sat and watched him at ferry on a hard day where lots of people DNW. For most of the match his tip didn’t move! He didn’t panic, he changed he’s cast times ,changed feeders ,changed how he baited up, changed his boxers shorts and the kitchen sink while he was at it. He placed in his section that day in the last 45mins with a run of bream and skimmers so it goes to show hard work really does beat talent. If Steve gives you advice you take it. The man is just built different and has the mental stamina of a machine .

    Cracking watch just a quick question thou what oz tip have you got on your rod as I have a 3oz feeder and was just wondering what size carp that would handle before being pushed to it max

    • @Keepitsimple-m4p
      @Keepitsimple-m4p 10 місяців тому +1

    Quick question , what size hook are you using? Sorry if I missed it in the video. My friend says to use size 16 but I’m frightened that’s too small for 7-13lb carp.

    I am new to targeting Carp this year, however have been fishing on and off since I was a child. Recently mainly Fly fishing for Trout. Till now 🙂
    Have noticed a couple of folks talking about the importance of feathering the feeder or weight down and feeling it hit bottom. I am Left Handed and as such have always set my rods up to play with the left hand and wind with the right. Finding trying to feather the line against the spool is difficult as the line hits my finger rather than rubbing past it.
    Do you think I would be better setting my reels up right handed and learning to fish this way when Carp, Corse etc fishing, I expect I will still Fly Fish Left handed though.

    • @Oldbutnotout1
      @Oldbutnotout1 10 місяців тому +2

      I am too left handed, but find with my finger resting on the lip of the spool, is just as effective. Practice i find, there is all ways a round things, good fishing

    • @ChrisBartlett-y6q
      @ChrisBartlett-y6q 10 місяців тому +1

      @@Oldbutnotout1 Thanks, so you reel with your right hand and are still able to feather with the line coming towards your finger on the spool. I think as you say, practice is the important thing, as with pretty much everything, thanks for the reply. Working out a way that works for me.

    • @Oldbutnotout1
      @Oldbutnotout1 10 місяців тому +2

      Yes reel handle, right retrieve, cast left at the button end of the rod handle, bitlike the rod is at an angle across me body, left to right

    Since I'm a returned to fishing, I started as I left off - using a float. Watching Steve and my son catch on Method/hybrid/Embedded feeders, I think its time for me to have a go.
    I have a Korum 11ft Float rod and will start to use that for method I think.

    This may be a really silly question, but when using a bait up rod and using distance sticks to clip it up how do you get it accurate, as the Guru bait up rods are 12ft in length. What do you do if fishing an 11ft feeder rod for example and the extra foot between the feeder rod and bait up rod? Cheers
