- Music from the days before Altus, when I was known as Goon.
A few people were curious to know how I wrote music back in the 90s. In most cases, I used Fasttracker 2, which was an awesome little 200k DOS program.
I wrote this song in 1998. Some people might recognize it, as I re-wrote it in the much more recent album "Crossroads". The trackname is "Are You Aware", with beat programming by Trx.

Sweeeet music. Fasttracker 2 used to be my bag, I cut my teeth on it. I mainly run Renoise now, though I've tested and tried many different programs and formats.
Nice! Renoise looks like an awesome tool. For myself, after FT2, I experimented with Madtracker for a few years. In 2002, I found Fruityloops (now FL Studio). I fell in love with the piano roll, and have been using that to this day.
@@altusmusic_ca i tried MadTracker (now MadTracker2) Sk@letracker, Fasttracker3, Jeskola Buzz but in the end Renoise was most FT2-like, and the full DOSstyle GUI was a must for me.
FL too but never got the hang of it. :)
Trackers certainly take me back! Anyone else remember a Finish tracker composer called "Elwood" in the 90s? Great tunes!
Yes, I still have some Elwood tracks backed up. Very complex stuff.
Great to see another artist that started off using fast tracker II, such a great little program. "Techno/Hard trance" on my page is all done using Fast tracker II.
Nice work mate
This is a great track, we share this in common with starting electronic music production in 1998 on FT2, fantastic tracker.
Yeah, I used a few trackers and this was my favourite.
Terrific tune!
I made tunes in exact the same style as you. As a mather of facts, this could be a track by me.
Thanks for sharing!
I really love your music as Altus, but this is awesome as well. Might be cool to release a whole new album in this old style.
incredible
Awesome track. The software it seems complex. But this was not problem to you 😁
Thanks. 😉
Thought this sounded familiar. Awesome!
Have you ever come across a track called K wander? By wanderlust I think....
The name sounds oddly familiar, but I can't find any record of it.
Yeah. Think it was already on there to show a new user an example.
I've searched too but there is no record of it
